LOL I was (a long time ago, according to my mum) 14 going on 24, now I am 24 going on 14

Age is just a number, ask my old codger of a DH, I bet he is edging on to oldest DH/DP on our thread

Diege · 18/04/2008 13:36

Ooh do tell Nat, how old is your dh?? Mine is 44 . Last Xmas a group of his friends thought I was his daughter

NatalieJane · 18/04/2008 13:37

LOL Oh glad I said 'edging on to the oldest'.... LOL He is a very lovely scrummy 37.

lardylumps · 18/04/2008 13:40

my dp has the hairline of a 44 year old if that counts.... , he is however my toy boy having just turned 33. he he he

lardylumps · 18/04/2008 13:40

PMSL at people thinking he was your dad........

Playingthewaitinggame · 18/04/2008 13:42

I've always been a bit middle aged. Mum used to say I was 2 going on 40. Think it got even worse when I got ill and had to learn to be at home all day by myself and be happy with my own company.

Playingthewaitinggame · 18/04/2008 13:43

No mine is my age, 26. Mind you also is a bit middle aged.

luvingtinkerbell · 18/04/2008 13:44

he he ladies
i am 30 in june and i live in the south west

NatalieJane · 18/04/2008 13:54

LOL at hairline LL, DH's hairline isn't really bad, but he has got very grey the last few months, still more black hair than grey, but it is ever changing, and he is getting a bald patch around his crown, but shushhhhh don't tell him I said that, I don't think he has noticed....!! Having said that, I don't think it is very noticable yet, I only see it when I am cutting his hair.

NatalieJane · 18/04/2008 13:55

God, doesn't he sound attractive now....?? I don't care, he could go completely bald with warts and all and I'd still love him

Diege · 18/04/2008 14:07

LOL, does he know he's 'thining'? Apparently it's a sign of lots of testosterone/high sex drive (as is a 'sharp' adams apple apparently)

NatalieJane · 18/04/2008 14:11

I don't know about that, but the hard pokes in my back at night are a deffo sign of high sex drive.

I worked that one out all by myself LOL

Playingthewaitinggame · 18/04/2008 14:11

Hmm, well it is sounding possible to engineer a southern meet-up. So far we seem to have BB, LL, Tink and Me.

Diege · 18/04/2008 14:25

PMSL Nat - dd1 is asking me why I've just spat my coffee out and if I'm feeling ill too

Playingthewaitinggame · 18/04/2008 14:30

What do you think? There have been a few threads in the pg section about scans. Here in Hampshire we get 1 scan at 16 weeks thats it. It seems that a lot of people get a 12 and 20 weeks scan, some people only get a 12 week and some people only get a 20 week. I have not heard of any other NHS authority doing 16 week scans. Surely thats an awful compromise, its still ages to wait for dating/reassurance but too early to detect many of the problem that would coem up on a 20 week scan. This seems very odd to me!

NatalieJane · 18/04/2008 14:31

LOL

Right, I am off to play the Wii again, getting quite bored of his new game now. See you in a bit

Diege · 18/04/2008 14:36

Agree Playing, that is very odd indeed, esp as things like spina bifida/some heart problems will only be visible 20-22 weeks . No doubt some cost analysis/staffing basis - can't think of any medical reason why at all. We have 12 and 20 week scans here, though I paid for a nuchal at 12 weeks as they're not offered here on the NHS.
Right, off to do school run. It is freezing!!!
Enjoy the wii Nat (whatever it is!!)

MoosMa · 18/04/2008 14:45

Afternoon all, just caught up, let's see if I can remember what I was going to say...

I would love to have a meetup but Manchester is a bit far from sunny Somerset so I vote for two too. My DH is 34, older than yours LL and I'm only 27! I feel quite young around all the other mums round here, we live in quite a posh village (never was when I was growing up here but lots of rich folk have moved here from cities) and a lot of people are career types who waited till their 30s so I felt very young when I had DD1 at 24.

So now I'm on CD38, I think I OV'd on around day 24 so am expecting AF this weekend. However........ I've just checked back to before I got pg last time and my LP appears to be quite short - only 10 days which would mean that AF should have come on day 34. Having said that, I was very grouchy and snappy on Tuesday and Wednesday and had cramps in the night last night (which I never get, in fact I woke up thinking "eek, the baby's coming, hang on, what baby?"), so who knows what's going on?

Playingthewaitinggame · 18/04/2008 15:04

Hi Moosma, another vote for a southern meet up!

I wouldn't be surprised if your LP has changed since you were pg as I think your cycles can change. Not sure though. Either way I would have thought AF is pretty much due now. Maybe your pg???

NatalieJane · 18/04/2008 15:13

Sorry Moos, couldn't help but chortle at the "eek, the baby's coming, hang on, what baby?" Crampiness like that is quite notorious in early pregnancy..... test woman test!!

Wii game is chicken shoot, yep you've guessed it, you have to shoot the chickens, oh what fun Actually the first five minutes of it weren't bad, but now we are on the 5th day, at half an hour a go, verrrrrrrry boring.

How I dream of a little girl so I can play Sindy instead!!

So have we got any dates in mind for the meet up/s?

luvingtinkerbell · 18/04/2008 15:31

i thought that a 12 wk and 20wk scan were compulsary now as when i had dd1 only got 20 wk one

NatalieJane · 18/04/2008 15:43

Tink, I think on one of the scan threads earlier someone quoted something from the NICE guidelines about how they recommend 12 and 20 weeks scans. I know some places operate along the lines of you only get a 20 week scan if you ask for it, but I think they do have to offer, not sort of hope you don't ask out right IYKWIM?

DS1 was born in Northants, and DS2 up here in Lancs, both times I have been offered all the tests and 12 and 20 weeks scans. Just down to that ol' postcode lottery methinks...

Playingthewaitinggame · 18/04/2008 15:55

Well I am 95% confident that I am right, my is colleague was complaining about it in the pub the other day and I have had various colleagues over the years that say the same thing. The lady was complaining that she would have to pay for a private scan as they wouldn't do another one despite asking for it and that was after waiting till 16 weeks for the first one! Think it might only be east hants where this applies.

Playingthewaitinggame · 18/04/2008 15:55

my sisters colleague that should have read.

NatalieJane · 18/04/2008 15:58

I wasn't saying you were wrong, just that is what I'd read earlier today on a thread.

Maybe when ever you get pregnant talk to the midwife about it? Take a printed copy of the NICE guidelines with you if you feel the need for 'back up'?

I will try to find the thread, not sure if it was linked or quoted...
