Hi All

Thought I start the new thread before we ran out of space on the old one!

Hopefully good old Vita (Zita!!) will sprinkle some babydust on us all...

I don't understand why I would only get a high on my Fertility monitor if I was actually ovulating already, and then a peak two days after though?

Oh well we'll see.

beaniesteve · 07/04/2008 15:14

Oh - and I didn't do anything special yesterday - a can of lager in the early evening. I was up late (past Midnight) as I had to go and pick my sister up and drive her home, plus I was trying (Successfully) for Glastonbury Tickets yesterday too.

Time will tell I guess

sarah76 · 07/04/2008 15:29

PrePG I love having two passports! I can sail through on either side of the pond. . .well, as much as anyone can 'sail through' U.S. immigration these days

Know what you mean about choosing dates--if I get lucky this cycle, my predicted due date would be around 31st December, and I really don't care! I found some EWCM a few min ago, and now plotting on how to get DP in the sack tonight....going to try not to jump into his lap and shout 'give me a baby!!!!' in his face. That tends to put him off a bit.

Also, my coverline was quite different this last cycle, about .2 degrees from where it normally is, so I guess they can change! As FF endlessly says, the actual temps don't matter as much as the thermal shift.

Beanie, I think it depends on what happens tomorrow. If your temp goes down again, that really high one might just be a fluke. Usually when I have one drink it doesn't affect the temp much, but might be different for you.

PrePG · 07/04/2008 15:46

sarah Did you do citizenship last year? Where in London are you? So funny about the passports - I'll have to get on it. Eventually we'd like DH to do his US citizenship and certainly any little one who comes along will be dual as well - I keep joking we have enough trouble trying to find two passports the night before a flight, can you imagine trying to find 6! or if things go according to plan, even 8!!!!

sorkycake · 07/04/2008 16:15

I'd say it looks like you O'd yesterday

beaniesteve · 07/04/2008 16:50

sorkycake - you mean me?
I am confused then. If my Clearblue fertility Monitor gave me my first peak yesterday this doesn't tie in with the way a fertility monitor works. Surely a Peak on a CBFM means that you are about to ovulate, not that you have?

sorkycake · 07/04/2008 16:52

Is this your first month using it beaniesteve?

beaniesteve · 07/04/2008 16:53

yes. Is that a worry? I had a positive Ovulation strip yesterday too, and lots of EWCM today.

Maybe I shouldn't be doing temp charting and using a fertility monitor? It's too confusing.

sorkycake · 07/04/2008 16:58

The fertility monitor will be gathering data for the first 2/3 cycles and then it will be able to accurately predict your peak days. This is exactly what happened with my Persona a few years ago.
The best thing to do is chart your temp, ignore the CBFM for the first couple of cycles and have sex regularly if you are able to. Good general advice really.

Your charting will let you know when you've O and it is possible to still have a day on EWCM after O, I often do.

I think it's recommended to have sex on the day of the rise as well if you have fertile CM.

hth

sorkycake · 07/04/2008 16:59

The only other explanation is that the temp is a rogue one.

Have sex anyway!

lol - I will. thank you
I am just worrying and being grumpy because I don't want to have missed it!

One thing I don't understand - if the fertility monitor is measuring LH then why does it have to get used to your cycles?

I mean, it's not predicting anything it is actually measuring levels scientifically. Or am I being completely barmy?

Prepg and Sarah ... my DH is US (Tennessee) so when we have kids (positive thinking) we want them to be little duals too!

In my frustration at not being able to get an acupuncture appt with the person I want this cycle, I've decided to jump ship, join Ready and have reflexology instead. My first appointment is at 7pm tonight ... Ready, have you had yours yet???

I'm booked in next week ClairLesley, so you'll be able to tell me about yours first

Rattling, lovely to see you Congrats on the new job

How's everyone doing? I did not temp this morning, and I haven't bothered doing an opk either because it is looking like this is going to be a mentally long cycle this month. Tut.

Thanks Sarah for updating my stats. had cramps for days and some spotting last wednesday.

Still who knows another month, another chance. I will be OVing while we are away in New York with friends (w/o DS)so might be able to put in a bit more effort than usual. That is is we can move after stuffing our faces with lots of yummy food.

I can't wait to get out there and do some shopping - sooo cheap at the moment.

I see we have lots of "over the ponders" on the thread. Any top tips for NYC? We are there 3/4 days and good food tips always appreciated!

We are not doing status of liberty and we are in 2 minds about visiting where the Twin Towers were.

Ready · 07/04/2008 18:28

Well, Lottie, since you've asked, on saturday I had some odd spotting - it happened last year, oddly enough, and my gp was not worried and said it is just one of those things, and actually inferred that it could be a fertile sign . I looked it up online (as you do) and came across a suggestion that sometimes the oestrogen level dips lower than it would before ovulation and causes the lining to become unstable and sheds. Another possibility is that the lining becomes too thick and has to shed some excess. Sigh. Either way, it's not going to be a regular cycle - so I have kind of given up this month

sarah76 · 07/04/2008 18:56

Nappy, I'm the wrong person to ask, I had an awful time in NYC as it's where my XH and I had our marriage-ending standoff on 34th Street last year! I agree about the shopping though, I stormed straight into Macy's and spent $300 on makeup.

If you do take a boat tour, don't go around the entire island of Manhattan. It was three ultra-boring hours, nothing like as good as going down the Thames. Rockefeller Center was good though. Didn't go to twin towers site or Statue of Liberty either.

Ready don't give up on O just yet, it's not too late!

PreGP, I was VERY lucky with my citizenship application. Since I hit the three year mark exactly one day before the testing requirement came in, I didn't have to take the test! But because everyone who'd put off applying was trying to get their application in on the same day, it took about 8 months to get citizenship and the passport.

ClairLesley, I want my kids to be dual citizens as well---research suggests kids will mostly vote like their parents, so it will be like having three votes in U.S. Elections! Could have used that in 2004...grrrr....(smacks self for bringing up politics).

Beanie the reason your fertility monitor needs time is because we all have different levels of hormones, no one is going to be exactly the same. What's high or peak for you might be different from others, so the monitor needs a few cycles to work out what is 'normal' for you. Same with using FF, it gets better at interpreting the longer you use it because your temps and O patterns aren't going to be exactly the same as anyone else.

sarah76 · 07/04/2008 18:59

Re-reading my last post, I've just noted I am completely assuming without question that I'm going to have two children

DP has promised 'sexy time' if I order pizza for dinner and give him time to digest it. We shall see....

Hi Nappy - went to NYC for our honeymoon in Aug 2001 so had the dubious pleasure of visiting the twin towers about 2 weeks before they went down. Still makes makes my stomach lurch looking at the honeymoon video

DId a whole tour of Ny state which was fab - loved NYC and the oyster bar in Grand central station was well worth a visit if you want to increase libido like oysters!

I really like going to see a show on broadway... we saw aieda(sp?) mind you that was a while ago now.

If you are going outside NY city then Skineateles was super as was niagra falls and then we went to washington which was lovely.

Enjoy the trip!

Nappy a friend went to NY recently and went to a fab steak restaurant (not a well known one but renowned amongst the locals apparently) - (oops you might be veggie ?! )whose name currently escapes me ....useless sorry. I'll ask her and let you know.....

Still got mild twinges which are like pre AF cramps - splitting headache and sore boobs.....I wonder if my stressing about it not arriving or arriving is just making it stay away ! I also seem to have come down with a cold so feel rotten - all I need. I am not POAS as it seems to just wind me up !....

NappyValley · 07/04/2008 21:11

Thanks for all the fab NYC advice. Me a veggie perish the thought I love food too much!! ACtually just had a delicious salmon ordered by room service (as stuck in hotel for next 3 days in halifax - actually this is the 2nd hotel, as after I checked into the first hotel it was so hideous that I checked straight out! - I am not usually that fussy honest)

herby yes please to name of steak house - love things that are known locally but not in the guide books.

Sarah sorry about the X but lol at the shopping. Sometimes it is the best thing. I do it when I get the baby blues too.

DH is my hero of the day, as he has driven back from Halifax to So'ton with the toddler on his own. Don't know if they got back safely yet, last call was at 6.15 from Northampton with sound of very excited toddler screaming and running in background - I think from 1 ride on Bob the Builder toy to another. Top tip for you TTC#1ers NEVER put money in a ride on toy and then they never know it is supposed to move for years!!!!
