Congratulations Sorky. It is lovely to see people graduating from the thread. It gives us all hope.

Also thanks for all the kind thoughts. As I said on Saturday, I thought of giving up. I am nearly 40, been trying for 11 years and have only managed one (unsuccessful) pregnancy. DH and I have agreed to continue for a while longer, but we know we need to make the call soon whether to go down the adoption path.

Morning All

Nappy I'm a native NYer and never been to the STatue of Liberty!

Some thoughts for food:

Jackson's Hole - Great burgers (alright, they're huge!!!) and sandwiches for casual/lunch time. Several locations around the city

Rosa Mexicana - Do you like Mexican? I think it's always worth having Mexican when you're in New York, as I find it really difficult to find good Mexican here (in London anyway). This is slightly upscale, they make the guacamole at your table and the pomegranite margaritas are divine

Tortilla Flats - lower West Village. Cheap, but fun mexican

Flea Market - Lower east side, cozy little French restaurant. Food is lovely and reasonable

Citrus - Upper West Side - Asian/Southwestern fusion. Can be loud and noisy, but I've always enjoyed the food

Plataforma Churrascuria - Brazilian BBQ - it's about $40 a head for all you can eat MEAT The waiters come around with all different cuts of mostly beef, but also chicken, rabbit, etc. And you basically eat until you die! Lovely huge salad bar to accompany and the mojitos are amazing.

Katz deli - a lot more ghetto than say the Carnegie Deli, but amazing Jewish deli sandwiches. Somehow always taste better at 2am

B Bar and Grill - slightly glamourous, nice food. used to be a celeb hang out, but more real-people friendly these days

Verlaine - Lower East Side. This place is so underrated. Amazing Vietnamese cocktails and small-ish food dishes.

And some for drinks:

Bar 89 - Cool place in Soho. It's got a unisex loo where the doors frost over if the toilet is in use. For some reason, it never gets old

Soho Grand - I love the bar at this hotel for a glass of champagne.

Hope that's helpful. Let me know if you have any questions!

lottie - I have a ? for you . I think you are the "hoo-ha" - (as Sarah puts it - I was laughing on your other post Sarah on another thread when you used that word ) temp taker??...I thought I'd see what my temp is from a slightly different place and I got a 36.7 degree as oppose to a 36.3 degree....however I suspect that you have to take it in the same way all the time to get a true picture of what is going on.....I suspect my other temps would have been higher too had I taken my temp this way all through this cycle. I think I might have to lock myself in the bathroom if this is the new method since DH will think that it's gross (although that will also mean I'll have to hop out of bed before temp taking).

NO AF yet - but can't bring myself to POAS since I have that mild dragging feeling which can only signal one thing....I'm glad I'm at work today at least it's taking my mind off it. I don't have any HPT's left anyway so I can't be tempted ....

Hope everyone else is ok.......

fruitl0ops2muchchoc · 08/04/2008 13:48

Sorky ... thinking of you! Hope all is ok.

Ready ... reflexology was amazing. Loved it. Had a lovely floaty feeling last night and still feel lovely and relaxed today. Even felt more energetic today too ... The woman told me that once per month, 5-7 days before ovulation, would be ideal. She did something to my ankles which she said was related to my ovaries in particular ... and said that one side had a faster pulse than the other which she would try to balance out!?!? She also gave me a few hand exercises to do using pressure points/pathways at home. There's a point on your thumb which (when rubbed) can balance/boost hormones and then two points either side of the base of your hand which will do wonders for the ovaries and uterus when rubbed. Now, not sure if I buy into everything ... but it felt wonderful, tried so hard not to fall asleep. She also said I had the healthiest feet she'd seen in a very long time which in reflexology terms would mean that I am generally very healthy ... hmmmmm Anything I read said that it takes at least 3 reflexology sessions before any improvement in fertility could be achieved. Will be really interested to hear how you get on with yours! If you enjoy it half as much as I did, you'll love it

ClairLesley · 08/04/2008 21:58

Nappy ... very you're off to New York!! I've been several times and LOVE all the big tourist attractions - open top bus tours, Empire State, Statue of Liberty. My #1 recommendation would be to take a horse & carriage ride around Central Park one evening. Last time I was there, I was with one of my best friends and a few of his female relations ... I always joke it was so romantic that I almost snogged his Aunt Shirley! We were there at Christmas, so it definitely had that extra magical feel ... but the guides are wonderful and tell you about all the scenes from famous movies that were filmed there as you clip clop around with a blanket over your lap. Lovely!

ClairLesley · 08/04/2008 22:01

Sarah ... LOL at your voting strategy! My in-laws are going to love that

sarah76 · 08/04/2008 22:21

Recently, I heard somewhere (Florida, I think) that a lady was driving along with her niece and saw a billboard advertising The Vagina Monologues. Apparently she was so offended that she had to explain to the 12 y/o (!!!) what a vagina was, so she complained to all the powers that be.....and lo and behold, they renamed it The Hoo-Ha Monologues so as not to offend any further.

Since hearing this story, 'hoo-ha' has become my favourite word for referring to my lady parts!

Sorky, thinking of you, wondering if you are okay. . .

Can someone pop me to the top of the pile tomorrow please?
Bleeding just started with nasty cramps and a negative test pretty much sums it up

NappyValley · 08/04/2008 23:06

Oh Sorky I am sorry. Big hugs hun. Get some rest.

Herbgarden - bad luck too.

I know I am on cycle 1 billion but I still remember trying not to get my hopes up, but you can't help it on the first cycle, it is only natural. Big squeeze and a large cup of tea!!

Thanks Prepg for the massive list they look fab.

Not sure about the horse drawn ride, as we are not a romantic pair (well not in the more traditional way)

sarah cracking report on the reflexology be interesting to compare to Ready's experience.

"hoo har di ha"

sorkycake · 08/04/2008 23:13

Can I ask have my positive tests, albeit faint ones, been fake then? Or was I pg but not anymore obv?
I'm at a bit of a loss to explain it myself because this hasn't happened to me before.
I'm starting to think that I shouldn't have tested at 10dpo because now I would be thinking, oh my period is a bit late this month and I wouldn't be any the wiser iyswim.
God I feel soooo stupid!

sarah76 · 09/04/2008 07:00

Awwwww Sorky It could have been a chemical pregnancy. Don't feel bad about testing early, we all do it and kick ourselves later.

Nappy, I think that was ClairL with the report on reflexology, but I'll have mine in next week!

Lottie, 'Front Bottom' was a term I only heard on moving to this country, haven't integrated that one into my vocabulary! My DP would like everyone to know that he refers to it as the 'furry front bottom'.

Back in the U.S. I tended to refer to it as 'Down Yonder'. . .I have no idea why, I'm not southern or anything
