Thought it was time we had a new home, seeing as we've almost outgrown the old one. So in honour to Scorpio, Sybil, BB and toomuch (hope I didn't forget anyone ) here we are - in the company of pregnant (and cheerful) ladies

ooh yes a bumpy ride in DH van would be fun, we could go sand-duning in it, lol!!

ladylush · 18/04/2008 12:41

Scorpio - sorry about the scare with raised heartbeat but glad all ok. She's probably just preparing herself for the noise and chaos that a household of males will bring Getting a bit of peace whilst she can

Ready · 18/04/2008 16:49

Isn't fresh pineapple meant to bring baby along? And er... semen?

mistlethrush · 18/04/2008 19:30

Looks as if I'm in for a fun w/e. Ds asked to go to bed at 6.40 - with a temperature and having had very little supper, and saying he felt sick. Ds returns home 10mins later saying he wasn't feeling well....

scorpio1 · 19/04/2008 09:40

millie born at 7.20pm last night after 5 hour labour. 8lb 9oz, and i breastfed!

PiggyPenguin · 19/04/2008 10:23

Congratulations Scorpio, that's fantastic news! She is a really healthy weight too so well done you! Hope you have your feet up today resting, let us know how the birth went!

kensgirl · 19/04/2008 11:11

YEY!!!
Welcome Millie, and well done Scorpio, its lovely news at long last. Congraulations, you must fill us in on whether it was the curry that did the trick...

Hi to everyone else! well, it has been a week and a half in the KG household. Firstly, I feel a bit evil over my ranting as he doesn't reguarly go out so much, usually its only Monday evening to play football and catch last orders, so think I was a hormonal crisis . Anyway, it was put very much into perspective as we found out last Sunday that mil has cancer again, and it has spread to her liver, lungs and bones. She is having more chemo, and we are trying to be positive and strong for her, but dh is devastated, and is praying she gets to see bump.

Also, I had my interview with my headteacher and personnel about doing reduced hours after mat leave. Still waiting for the reply, but I am hopeful about being granted it, but the downside is a will lose my mamagenent role and go back to just being a class teacher. On one hand the pressure will be much less, but I feel a bit as though it will be a bit of a step back too, as though I've served my purpose, and can't possibly be a competent manager and a mum too. Still, I have got it in pespective after lots of tears and thoughts, nothing matters as much as the welfare of my baby, and I'll happily do anything it takes. The shock of the intrview is that I was expected to justify my future antenatal appointments, time off with this pegnancy, and my sick record was brought up back to 2001 !!!! I couldn't beleieve it as I never swing the lead and the time I've had off was mostly due to huge things such as when my dad died, miscarriage, threatened miscarriage and then the whole parvovirus malarkey. I went home feeling very shakey and stunned. Work, eh? Roll on mat leave, I think I have just lost all motivation.

Love the Stokke cot! I wanted one but then I didn't like the patterns on the bedding etc, and had to have the one made by Stokke because of the shape. We've gone for a moses basket and rocking stand for the first months from Claire de Lune, will try post a link in a bit, its got some quite nice things on the website.

Thanks for the cot ideas, I'm no further on with the shopping this week though. I like the idea of one to push up to the bed, but we havn't got room for one in our room and don't want to have to bum shuffle to the bottom of the bed evry time I need the loo !

Maybe I've got it wrong about the spine thingy, being completely green about these things, I just know that we have been told not to use the car seat bit on the bugaboo for longer than 1 and a half to 2 hours to allow baby to straighten their spine. Maybe it only applies to the car seat?

Quite like the new pram, Ready but still prefer the bug...

Bye for now....xx

Congrats Scorpio and welcome Millie, looking forward to seeing some pics of her in her pink uggbooties

Ready · 19/04/2008 14:37

Kensgirl, so sorry to hear about mil - and your meeting with the hm and personnel - don't let them upset you! Look after yourself

nomoremagnolia · 19/04/2008 15:26

CONGRATULATIONS SCORPIO

kensgirl sorry to hear about MIL, look after your DH. The thing with babies staying in car seats for more than 1 1/2 - 2hrs is that their heads are heavy and push down on their torso, squashing their chest and lungs, so they have a risk of cot death if they stay in that position too long - so it's sort of about laying them flat, but not because of their spines. Car seats have to be at an angle though to prevent injury in a crash, so it's a bit of a balancing act between the various risks. The Nature's nest is only at a slight angleand actually holds baby in a more natural position (just like a sling you'd wear does)

toomuchtimeonline · 21/04/2008 10:48

Big Welcome to Millie!! - really pleased for your Scorpio!!!

Big hugs Kensgirl - it must be a very difficult time for you and your DH

hello everyone else..

PiggyPenguin · 21/04/2008 13:35

Kensgirl - so sorry to hear about your mil, and your hr appointment. Heres hoping things start to get better from now on in.

Scorpio, how's Millie? I'm sure you are super busy right now but let us know how you are both getting on.

Nomore, how are you getting on with the ivf cycle? Fingers and toes crossed in you direction

Toomuch, how many weeks are you now? I realised after Millie arrived that I'm now the next one to give birth on here which is freaking me out! I have just bought a birthing pool on ebay though so feel as if I am getting practically ready for the birth, if not in any other way!

Big hugs and hellos to everyone else, apparently spring is arriving tomorrow so its time to breck out that glamourous spring/summer wardrobe. (Except for me that is, maternity jogging bottoms will have to be all season wear this year...)

hobnobs · 21/04/2008 13:56

Congratulations to Scorpio. Well done, Millie. Hope you're behaving yourself.

Well, for all your porridge aficionados, thanks for the advice. I have tried it twice now. First time, (on a weekday so in a rush - takes a bit longer than my muesli!) have to admit it was a bit stodgy so don't think I'd got the consistency quite right. Had it again on Saturday - bit too runny but much nicer - particularly once I'd added something to sweeten it! By the way, Ready, I'm impressed you got rid of your microwave. Can't say we use ours a lot but it doesn't come in handy for the occasional microwave meal or more often, defrosting or reheating of food. You are obviously super-organised instead!

Kensgirl Sorry to hear about your MIL. Hope that you have a calm week at work!

mistlethrush · 21/04/2008 14:54

Hobnobs I always make my porridge fairly stiff and then pour milk on top - I like the hot and cold contrast, and you can have a better consistency in your mouth that way - and add more milk if necessary!

Another option to add - chopped dates and lemon or orange zest. [yum]

scorpio1 · 21/04/2008 20:46

Millie is feeding well still and a beautiful little sausage
