Thought it was time we had a new home, seeing as we've almost outgrown the old one. So in honour to Scorpio, Sybil, BB and toomuch (hope I didn't forget anyone ) here we are - in the company of pregnant (and cheerful) ladies

Hey

Have you tried BLW, is he 6 months already??!!

I will let you know, yes cd27 today

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 24/12/2008 19:36

He is 28 weeks today. How, how is that possible? I have toyed with blw but he just gags and then dribbles whatever is in his mouth down his chin. oooooooooh, cd27, I will be watching this space...

mistlethrush · 02/01/2009 22:35

Sybil - how about having a plate of food (mainly for yourself) which has a lot of things that are suitable for blw on the edge nearest you and just having jamie on your lap?

hobnobs · 03/01/2009 09:02

Hello everyone. Just a quick message to wish you all a Happy New Year - meant to pop in and wish you Happy Christmas but a bit late now! I got struck by one of the many bugs going round (little dose of gastronenteritis) for the few days before Christmas which sapped my energy levels a bit. At least I just about recovered in time to be able to eat a little bit of Christmas dinner .

Also just wanted to say a big thank you for all your support in 2008 particularly during my moments of panic over low hormone levels etc. I really hope that 2009 is a great year for everyone on this thread, and results in lots more babies. Ready I have seen your news on your other threads and will gatecrash them to congratulate you!

scorpio1 · 04/01/2009 12:36

Nomore - how are you?

Here's to lots and lots of babies this year, please!

mistlethrush · 04/01/2009 17:29

Aagh. Just wrote a longish post and lost it as Internet Explorer froze

Hello everyone! Nomore Really hope you don't have to wait to long for your Lap and Dye. I remember practically begging them to fit me in for an HSG when I thought I'd have to wait another month because they were busy. Ready Hope you're doing well. I'm fine though could do with a bit more sleep at night (have a habit of waking up and then staying awake for a couple of hours. Suppose it's all good practice!) Gilly If you're lurking, hope your IVF drugs appointment goes ok - later this month, isn't it?

Am in need of a bit of inspiration (at the risk of reigniting the pram wars). Am trying to get my head round the masses of pushchairs etc out there. Ideally, would like a travel system which works rear and front facing, with a car seat, lie flat for first few months, doesn't cost the earth, etc etc! To be honest, the key issue is likely to be folded down size as it will need to go occasionally into DH's Corsa's boot (and more frequently into my car's larger one). Think this rules out quite a lot though it does look the Loola Up and ICandy Apple would fit. Scorpio I know you got rid of your Loola quite quickly - was it largely because you wanted a Bugaboo as it looked better (whispers am not really very style conscious so not bothered about that!) DH has suggested we go and see a nursery advisor at John Lewis which might be a good start but want to have some ideas before we go. Whenever I think I've found one, I read some reviews and wonder if it's the right decision (just to confuse things, have also got a Which subscription at the moment which I need to cancel soon!)

Anyway, hope you're all wave and big wave to everyone else.

nomoremagnolia · 16/01/2009 18:52

Hi hobnobs I think the main problem with the icandy is the weight - every review I see says it is absurdly heavy, both to lift and to push. The loola is wide (you may have problems with shop doorways, esp if they have security gates!) and the shopping basket is next to useless. Having said that what I do like about the lola is that it folds with the seat on (facing either direction).
At the moment I really like the mothercare 'mychoice' system. You choose either a 3 or 4 wheel chassis and then a seat/carrycot unit. The seat faces forward and back and converts to a carrycot just like the bugaboo. It is also compatible with the maxi-cosi car seat. Best of all it doesn't come with a bugaboo price tag! I don't know about how small it folds or anything about the basket ets as I haven't seen one 'in the flesh' so to speak.

nomoremagnolia - "every review" is wrong. ICANDY apple weighs 12.7kgs, mothercare mychoice weighs 13.2kgs. Apple was brilliant with my eldest two and when we had our third baby last year we upgraded our apple to a pear. This product has been the best! Dont always believe the reviews.

Ready · 18/01/2009 10:37

Jeffers... reviews cannot be wrong I'm afraid, they are, essentially, someone's opinion of said item, and therefore cannot be wrong. Just like you are not wrong saying how good the icandy is. It is your opinion.
I would like to add though, in my opinion - 12.7kg is heavy, as is 13.2kg...

Far better to get something that weighs 9kg - the bugaboo

Ready · 18/01/2009 10:38

Having said all that, do appreciate another point of view, Jeffers. Ta

jeffers61 · 18/01/2009 11:36

very true Ready although weights can be quoted incorrectly as often seems to the the case with apple - I sometimes wonder if it is other pushchair dealers! I did a lot of reasearch. The reason the apple is heavier than bugaboo are the apple airwheels that give such a great ride but if you want lighter than bugaboo there is the icandy cherry which doesnt have airwheels like bugaboo. Honestly not a salesperson for icandy but their products are really great and we, other family members, and our friends are really loving this range. Well done!

scorpio1 · 18/01/2009 12:04

Nomore - hang on in there, April not too far away

Hobnobs - i got rid of the loola because i wanted a bugaboo [spoilt brat emoticon]. But the shopping basket was really rubbish, but oh so easy to transport - seat folds up with the chassis, plus so easy to just click car seat on to shassis - though not recommendedfor long use iyswim.

Bugaboo is pain for folding, really. We have a c4 (good boot size car) and it takes the whole thing up. Plus the footmuff gets dirty when you have to fold it up in the bbot as the wheels are so big iyswim. though it look lush we are currently denim and off white.

Ready - think of you alot actually . hope you are well and enjoying every minute!

Having a rough moment here but i'll be ok.

Twins - yay am big fan of twins! DH would run a mile but i would love it! just love babies [sigh]

PiggyPenguin · 18/01/2009 17:11

Hi all!

Scorpio, hope you are ok and not too blue, how's ttc going and how is the lovely Millie?

Hobnobs, when is your edd? I need to keep it in my head so I can get excited nearer the time!

Nomore, hey you! Sorry you are having to wait. I would harass for an earlier date too.

Ready, Gilly and everyone else, much new year hugs and kisses to you. This has been a lucky thread title I think, time for one more before we finish it surely ;.)

PiggyPenguin · 18/01/2009 17:13

Ooops forgot to say, Jamie is fine but very stubborn. He seems to have decided solids are not for him and we are waiting for him to change his mind. He has discovered melon recently, which he likes and yoghurt. Not exactly a balanced diet, but a start!

hobnobs · 20/01/2009 17:23

Hello again! Thanks everyone for your advice and hope you don't mind me still posting here - haven't really made it on to an ante-natal thread - they chat too much for me to keep up!

Well, we made a brief visit to John Lewis on Saturday - it was heaving with people so not that easy to look at anything - plus DH thought we were going to look at nursery furniture, whereas I had my eye on pushchairs, so we did both but very briefly. (We will probably still try and get an appointment with the nursery advisor but not at a weekend if we can help it ). It did make me realise how important it is to play around with them in real life - they do look huge, much bigger than I'd imagined from the comfort of google! Have to admit I'm not really any the wiser but hopefully it's a start!

Nomore I've also paid a quick visit to Mothercare. I think the MyChoice system is similar / the same as My3 / My4, which I'd looked at. I do like the look of it but having measured the back wheel base, I don't think it will fit. (Will probably need to take the car to an out-of-town branch and get them to try out some models).

Gilly The Maclaren Techno XLR came out really well in the Which survey I was looking at - rated as one of their Best Buys. I think if you're going to be using buses and tubes a lot, it makes more sense to have a lighter-weight model. Thanks for the tip about the Bebe Confort Streety - not sure how I'd missed it! I am now 27 weeks - time flies! Will be keeping everything crossed for you once you start your treatment.

Scorpio Thanks for the info about the Loola. I was less convinced when I saw it in the flesh, but really need to go and play with it and others some time. Did see the Windoo carrycot which goes with it in the John Lewis clearance for £50 which seemed like a bargain, but am just not ready to make a decision just yet!

Sybil Sorry that solids and Jamie aren't really mixing though as you say, melon and yoghurt is a start . My edd is 21st April.

Ready Glad you're still flying the flag for Bugaboos! . They do look nice but don't think it would fit so not so much use for us! Hope you're keeping well - you must be over 15 weeks now
