Hi guys - just to let you know all went well today, so now for the painful 14 day wait before results...

Not feeling too bad at the mo, but I swing between coping and falling apart. You've got me on a good day!

Lissielou I will return, most definitely! And Anniemac, I know what you mean. We just don't feel like a complete family with one child - but looks like we'll just have to accept it. Course, I say that, then as soon as I hear of a pregnancy/new baby, I'm in a state. Clearly NOT coping, even when I think I am.

I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks for the well wishes

Hi everyone,
I just thought I would pop on because stupid AF arrived again today. So that's two years of FTC for us. Hooray!
We have a one and only as well JMo and he is now four and delightful, but I really am starting to feel that we won't become pg without intervention (medical not divine - although...). Luckily, we have had financial input from our family and can now just about afford one shot at IVF, there's a waiting list though, but hey we've had lots of practice with waiting.

duchesse · 04/12/2008 13:58

I have to say, as a weaned Huttee, that it did get easier once I made the resolution to stop trying. It is not that I wouldn't still love to have another child, and I still hope every month, but it no longer seems to take over my life. I now think more in terms of not having had to use contraception for 5.5 years, which seems a lot more positive than ftc for similar time. Having said that, we have had many Hut graduates over the couple of years it's been running, so there is hope still for everyone.

Wacky backy anyone?

Sorry to hear that Anniemac, but at least you can eat, drink & be merry this Christmas! (small comfort I know).

A week today I have to go for a pregnancy test at the clinic...then ring in afternoon for results. I've been dreading that phone call ever since they first mentioned it...

Going to keep busy in an attempt to forget about it all, contemplating painting the bathroom this morning (I must be mad!). Picking up dd from school in less than 2 hrs, so actually I'm clearly mad!

IUI is costing us £995 for just one cycle, it's costs £2765 per cycle for IVF. We're already in debt funding all this, and simply can't afford further treatment - plus, emotionally, we can't take it any longer.

If you go for it tho, good luck with it all. Desperate times call for desperate measures!

Anniemac - my clinic is in Sheffield, which may explain price difference. They're an NHS Teaching Hospital but take private patients too. We've found them really excellent there, mostly all women and very sympathetic. We're surrounded by an uninterested family, so any sympathy is welcome!

Ironially, it's the 1st & only month we can afford to use them. Prior to this we've been going to a private hospital having clomid, hormone injections, laporospcopys, etc...Mainly had ovulation induction treatment (a waste of time & money for us. Price only marginally cheaper than IUI). This month has been a lot better treatment and advice. Too little too late I fear though...
