L-Methylfolate 1000 mcg | 200 Capsules | 5-MTHF Folate Supplement | Active Form of Folic Acid | by Opti-Folate. Folic Acid,Vitamin Folate200 Count

@FigandHoney
Thinking about asking drs next week about maybe trying that - ?
Maybe alongside my prescription (?)

We cant actively try and conceive for 12 days anyway as i have another hospital trip 4 a ct scan (!)

FigandHoney · 12/10/2023 19:46

@worldwidetravel2017 So my understanding is that metafolin is more easily absorbed by the body than the more commonly used form of folic acid. So it is recommended for people who struggle with their folic acid levels.
It's harder to get.
Maybe ask your GP about it

FigandHoney · 12/10/2023 19:55

Ok. So I double checked. Metafolin is the brand name. It's calcium L-methylfolate. Which I think is what you are taking

worldwidetravel2017 · 12/10/2023 20:00

So folate levels are on nhs app

Thankfully its gone up

June was only 7.0

3 months on 5 mg folic acid and its 22.2 ...

:)

Sadly after a month on floradix gentle iron - my feretin has not gone up :( wish it would . Just sits at about 100
Felt way better after iron iv when it was 252 :(

B12 down a bit too

Im assuming that since folate level is now 22.2
That somethings been absorbed somewhere

That L - methylfolate is on Amazon - i may talk to a dr or pharmacist about

worldwidetravel2017 · 12/10/2023 20:03

I guess for - most people - taking floradix gentle iron would improve most peoples feretin level - nope - not my body - bit guttering..
Although todays bloods were only a month after miscarriage - lost a lot of blood obv & have period

worldwidetravel2017 · 12/10/2023 20:04

Thanks for listening & thanks for help @FigandHoney

Just catching up from today, welcome @Firsttime0727 and yessss to the little wins @worldwidetravel2017

@El1988they sound totally clueless. Wait until you’ve had confirmation from the second clinic and then I would write a letter to your current clinic complaining. I’m so sorry that you’re not getting clear or helpful advice from them. Not what you need. I hope the second clinic are more knowledgable and can help you 💕

@CurlyWurly1991 Super helpful and think you are right re DTD

@FigandHoney Looks like you ovulated around CD12? Hope you have good news soon.

Supertrooper101 · 12/10/2023 20:38

@El1988 ubinqinol does my head in at how expensive it is. And do we really know what quality it is we are buying 🙆‍♀️ although i did find somewhere that says to break open a capsule, if its white with tiny crystals then its legit, if there lumpy, or a yellow colour then its poor quality and hard to absorb. Still havent tested it lol am so tempted to buy some melotonin. Followed the link on google from that book to biovea where the uk can buy it from. Just dont want to depend on it to sleep tho so not sure lol

Supertrooper101 · 12/10/2023 20:56

@worldwidetravel2017 am the opposite lol i have iron overload so have my levels checked 6mthly to make sure my ferritin is low lol my result guildlines say to keep below 130 though (20-130ug)

I have peaaaaass for iron. ...

I have beeeef for iron

I even had a side bowl of spinach with pizza early - im tryinnnnnn

Supertrooper101 · 12/10/2023 21:09

Ahhh

See i was born basically 9 weeks early - 9 weeks and 2 days

And i had to have ' iron help '..... when tiny

Medical records state my body is poop at absorbing iron .. hence iron iv in my arm .

Apricots = iron friendly snack

But yeah...

I find it easier to add extra b12 to diet than iron

Meh

Just wana be a mum

Supertrooper101 · 12/10/2023 21:15

@worldwidetravel2017 calcium inhibits iron and coffee and green tea stop it absorbing. I have to limit vitamin c so you could maybe get pure powder vitamin c and try that

Supertrooper101 · 12/10/2023 21:18

@worldwidetravel2017 i really hope it happens for you x you seem to be doing everything you can x

MrsBP15 · 12/10/2023 21:44

So I’ve taken a photo of the ingredients for the infamous Proceive tablets. I’m struggling to figure out how these measurements add up with @El1988’s v helpful post earlier this eve re supplements I.e is this enough vit d or should I be taking more? I guess there’s no harm in taking more and I have lots of vit d tablets from before I started Proceive

CurlyWurly1991 · 12/10/2023 22:07

@FigandHoney your chart looks great, I think you probably missed the peak Opk on CD12 as you only tested early morning and late evening and then ovulated CD13. It’s impossible to tell with temps whether it’s an ovulatory or conception cycle, I know it’s tempting to read into the direction of the temps but I’ve been stung with that several times. Fingers crossed the temps keep going up beyond your usual luteal phase though as that is a very good sign x

Im taking vit c tablet and having satsumas and orange juice

I try

Sending you all the luck too

You cant over dose on vit D - dr told me that again yest
Ifi was you id take 2000 iu tablets anyway
And / or maybe take actimel drink - 1 third of daily vit d in

Not all peoples bodies absorb stuff in some / all / certain forms

You could tell your Dr your trying to concieve and ask for vit d blood test to get an idea of where your current level is

There is a significant link with vit d deficiency and miscarriage, & as over 35s we already have higher chance of miscarriage so i just feel strongly that vit D is something we can do a bit to fix / help / control

CurlyWurly1991 · 12/10/2023 22:12

@worldwidetravel2017 check out the iron protocol group on Facebook. It’s very helpful in terms of iron supplementation advice.

I dont have Facebook unfortunately

When younger they ( drs ) gave me iron tablets but my body does not absorb them
Medical records state iron absorbtion issues

Think il try the oral iron spray

Thanks though

Legit just sat watching pride of britain and munching on broccoli Haha
Good job i can laugh @ myself

MrsBP15 · 12/10/2023 22:16

Thanks @worldwidetravel2017 as previously mentioned I’ve had vit D tested and am 54 nmol/L though that was back in Jan before I started taking anything.

Jan was a long time ago - maybe see what your level is now

Now guna be deepest darkest winter in UK - potential pregnancy aside - most people could do with extra vit d in uk winter

FigandHoney · 12/10/2023 23:04

@MrsBP15 So I am also taking the Proceive Plus tablets and had a go at comparing them to the protocol suggested
800mcg of folic acid / 400mcg
400mg of Coq10 / 70mg
500mg of vit c / 400mg
300mcg of melatonin
4000 iu of Vit D3 / 1400 iu
1500 mcg of b12 / 25mcg
500g omega 3
The front of the pack says there is omega 3 in them but I can't find it in the list. Although I can clearly taste the fish oil at the end.
It also seems to be lower on all the other ones.
Might be worth having the actinel as @worldwidetravel2017 suggests
