TMI question but I guess we can ask everything here?!
But seriously... after DTD obviously the sperm all leaks out. I've heard the legs in the air thing (which may or may not work?!) But how on earth do you keep the sperm inside and how long do you lie there. It genuinely feels like it all leaks out straight away. Obvs this hasn't been an issue before thinking about TTC.

I researched. Not sure how to explain it but I think what comes out, is not the sperm! Most of them have already all long gone up. Sorry for TMI! They separate from it very quickly and immediately start swimming, like within less than a second but obviously they’re microscopic so you wouldn’t see or know that they’d all separated.

Sleepysheepish · 19/09/2023 23:27

Can I join too?

Currently trying to conceive #2, I have an 18 month old DD.

It’s been a weird time as I was heavily on the fence since DD was born, I always wanted 2 but DD wasn’t the easiest baby and she still doesn’t sleep great. And then me and DH had some issues, adjusting to being a parent was hard for him, things are better now but I’m still a little nervous #2 could cause issues to resurface. But I’m 36 so I can’t say exactly wait!

I stopped the pill around 5 weeks ago, got my hormones tested, which is how I found out I have low AMH. I’m now waiting to ovulate, I tend to have longer cycles, waiting for ovulation can be torturous. Hoping I’ll ovulate before the end of October though!

It’d be awesome to be able to share the journey with others who understand how hard it can be :)

Thanks, this is reassuring! They just don't teach you all of this in school.

@justkeepswimming2701 @MrsHousePlant @spacewitch10 @Sleepysheepish Hello Welcome to all of you! 😊

@TTCnewbies When I researched this last time, online read that it was a myth but I still did it lol it said 15mins of laying down after dtd, not necessarily putting your legs up, was supposed to help. However, I also read that it happens instantly so we don’t need to stay laying down. Sperm can live in the body for 3-5 days afterwards anyway. I recall still laying down, and it kind of became a joke for dh and myself when I’d mention it afterwards 😂

@beaniesunrise haha that is exactly what we've been laughing about. Honestly I'm 30 I should absolutely know this stuff, I'm very mature!! But I guess you just ask all the stupid stuff when DTD. Tbh we tend to use condoms mainly for the mess! But obviously we can't now.

DoloresOnTheDottedLine · 20/09/2023 07:44

We DTD yesterday evening and I couldn’t stop myself lying down with my legs up afterwards even though I’ve read it’s probably pointless! It felt good to be doing something to “help,” even if doesn’t really. Also a good chance for a quiet scroll through mumsnet whilst DP got up to unload the dishwasher 😉.

FightingEndo · 20/09/2023 07:49

Hi first time on here please forgive if I post in the wrong place 🫣🫣🫣

We have been trying for with 1 unsuccessful round if IVF and ICSI and iv got stage 3 endo and currently waiting for our next egg collection and next round its been a journey to get here. So I am not one to jump to conclusions and im past the point of hoping each much I catch naturally its been a long while since iv done that...until now!!!!!!!! As I said I have endometriosis and my periods are regular give or take a day or two. However this month im 5 days early and 10 days past ovulation my peiod is very different almost like water, to give some context my usual period is 7days long and extremely heavy having to alwasy use superplus tampon with 2 towels and unable to walk because of the level of pain so this is like night and day for me.

does this sound like it could be implantation?

I dont even know if someone with endo would have implantation....any advise would be much appreciated dont want to let my mind/hopes and wishes to run away with themselves 🥰🥰🥰

hicketypickety · 20/09/2023 08:36

Well AF arrived yesterday.... so onwards and upwards for October. I've Felt unusually emotional this week I think because it's exactly a year since the first miscarriage and I was so hopeful that I'd fall pregnant again and it would be fine, as it turns out I did and it wasn't so bit of a weird mix of feelings. But I have to stay positive. Sending luck to everyone and extra support to those going through difficult journeys.

DoloresOnTheDottedLine · 20/09/2023 08:46

Very sorry that this wasn’t your month @hicketypickety and crossing everything that October is your lucky one. I haven’t experienced it so can only imagine how much harder TTC is mentally and emotionally after a previous loss. Sending you strength.

spacewitch10 · 20/09/2023 19:02

Hi everyone,

3dpo ovulation today and experiencing a very sharp pinching pain in my left ovary, have done most of today but really noticing it tonight while I'm sat down.

I know implantation hasn't happened yet but wondered if anyone else has experienced anything this early that they wouldn't class as normal for their non pregnant/ttc cycles?

Think I'm at the beginning of the driving myself insane path with this 🙃

Sleepysheepish · 20/09/2023 22:02

@spacewitch10 how did you confirm ovulation? If it wasn’t BBT could it be you’re maybe actually ovulating after your LH surge?

Sleepysheepish · 20/09/2023 22:16

I’m cycle day 14, no sign of an LH surge yet. My last ovulation was on cycle day 36 so hoping it doesn’t take that long 🥲

Anyone else using a Mira? I bought one secondhand a few months back, my E3G has risen this morning which maybe could indicate my body is thinking about doing something? Maybe

hicketypickety · 20/09/2023 22:19

@spacewitch10 I hear you I think everyone quickly slides into insane territory 😂😂

spacewitch10 · 20/09/2023 22:49

@Sleepysheepish no didn't track bbt, so could very well be that and I've miss calculated, but every month without fail I get that mittelschmerz pain when I ovulate and the ewcm before, it also always ties in with my predictive ovulation date too on the apps I use. So that's how I normally track ovulation. I guess I'll dtd tonight just incase 😂

@hicketypickety 😂😂 it's crazy isn't it?! Literally the only thing I can think about!

Sleepysheepish · 21/09/2023 02:26

@spacewitch10 maybe buys some cheapie LH tests? And a BBT thermometer! The apps can be pretty inaccurate I’ve found!

TTCnewbies · 21/09/2023 21:15

Gosh seeing how varied everyone ovulates, it's making me think we should be testing for ovulation?! I was just going to go by the guesstimate on the glow app and DTD for about a week around ovulation prediction?! I think this month will be a see what happens but perhaps will test next month. I have pretty regular cycles, 28/29 days.

beaniesunrise · 22/09/2023 07:46

So this is odd.. I started AF on Tuesday instead of Monday as predicted (fine I guess not far off), but now AF is ending today.. 4 days later, normally it’s usually 6 days every month except the odd month a year when it varies from either 5-9days as part of normal changes in the cycle. Now I’m thinking maybe I’ll ovulate earlier but I read that ovulation date is based on the first day of AF.
CD4 for me today, let’s see if I can catch ovulation this month! Current expected day is 2nd Oct ahah

DoloresOnTheDottedLine · 22/09/2023 08:39

Will you use OPKs @beaniesunrise, or just the app and see how you get on? Good luck!

beaniesunrise · 22/09/2023 08:54

I’m thinking to use the App for the first 2 cycles and then will look into OPKs 😊I managed to find my old record when I was TTC last time, it happened on cycle 2 & we dtd from day after AF flow ended, for a week, every other day. Good luck to you also!!

It's predicting ovulation next Thursday and saying the window guesstimate is tomorrow for 1 week.
I've not been logging too well either as I've been away for work with absolutely terrine signal.
I'm back now and we will DTD today and hopefully every day for the next week. 🙏 I really hope the app is right. We are away next weekend but will struggle to find any time to so hopefully this week is fertile week!

Monkeymonkeymoo · 22/09/2023 13:16

Please can I join too.
It’s my first cycle TTC number 3.

I’m 1-2DPO and planning to test next Sunday so I’ll just about count as TTC October!

Sitchervice · 22/09/2023 13:47

Hey slipping in here

Baby number 2
30 years of age
Just come off my IUD last month so not expecting anything. Especially seen as I just recently finished a 12 day period. And I heard it can take up to 3 months before everything goes back to normal. Still trying though.
