My temp shot up today too, not massively so but it’s the highest it’s been all cycle. I’m 2-3 DPO today and officially the TWW starts again….

rosecbrm · 02/07/2023 13:52

Hey all, hoping I can join?

This was our first month TTC, although not being super strict.. we are getting married in a week so that's taking up most of my spare time at the moment and I don't want to add any extra pressure, but we aren't being careful when DTD.

I am currently CD16, and we DTD on CD11 and yesterday (CD15). I haven't used OPKs this cycle due to not really getting chance with the wedding planning and also just not wanting to put extra pressure on, however I have in the past on a couple of cycles (just for insight and gain a bit more knowledge on my cycle leading up to TTC!) and have noticed my peak is always around CD15-17 and I did have some slight cramping last night and this morning which I can only assume is ovulation!

This is our first month of not being careful when DTD and we're not actively 'trying' as such by OPK testing etc etc, so I'm fully not expecting anything this month, but I just wanted to join in the the thread as it's nice to have people to talk to who are all going through a similar thing!! I also feel like knowing we DTD last night and realising that it was most likely my peak, it's going to be on my mind!!

Also, massive congrats to those on you BFPs and sending lots of baby dust to those trying ✨
Xx

GinAndBearIt90 · 02/07/2023 14:49

Hoping I can also join! Just about to start TTC #3 and was wanting to start this July cycle but its already proving more complicated than the last 2 as my period hasn't shown up as expected 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm still BF my second child and only had my first post partum period there last month...but my second period is now late so I suspect my cycles are going to be all over the place! I think a combination of a bad tummy bug a few weeks ago and DS2 still feeding loads has maybe delayed this next cycle. Bit frustrating, but I've some OPKs arriving in the post today so will hopefully help us to conceive either way 🤞🤞🤞
Also we are hoping to possibly sway for a girl this time as have 2xDS already and this will be our last baby...but 3 boys will still be amazing!!

HavinKittens · 02/07/2023 16:00

I remember finding waiting for our scan hard, the not knowing. I hope it gives you clarity and you can move on with whatever happens next @Vic231
will be thinking of you

@CinderRosie let the 2ww begin! I’m 2dpo I think. I’ll be a family holiday up until cd13 so I hope it’ll keep me distracted and away from the tests!!

hi and welcome @rosecbrm congratulations on your upcoming wedding, how wonderful. Will it be a big do or more intimate?
Your cycles sound regular so that’s a big plus. Will this be your first?

welcome @GinAndBearIt90 how old is your second? I got my period back v early (I think before 6mo post partum) but had a test that indicates I’m maybe no ovulating. Definitely adds extra confusion when you’re bf.
I have a little boy and I would love a little girl but I had read there’s no evidence that swaying works??

rosecbrm · 02/07/2023 16:09

Thanks for the reply @HavinKittens!

It's quite big actually, we have around 70 guests in the day and an extra 50 in the evening 😅 but so excited!

My cycles since coming off the pill over the pill have been more or less regular, always around 28 days cycle with a day or two between, however the past couple of cycles I've had a couple of days extremely light bleeding before bleeding heavily, so that has been a bit confusing as to knowing when my cycle started etc!

But yes, this would be our first! But we're really trying not to put any pressure on anything, but obviously that's hard when you're thinking about it a lot!

Also seen your previous post, hope you've managed to sneak a little nap in between now and then!

GinAndBearIt90 · 02/07/2023 17:01

@HavinKittens
My second is almost 14 months. It's different this time as I haven't been on the pill at all, just using other contraception. Whereas after my second I went straight on the pill, came off 6 months before planning to TTC and my period came back right away but I just had very long cycles for the first couple back. Aiming for another 2 year age gap so I feel like it's all come round very quick this time and I wasn't even back on folic acid until this week 😅 I've just done an OPK and it's very weak so will just see what happens, maybe I ovulated but just no period!
Is it your OPKs that suggested no ovulation?

I'm sure swaying it doesn't have any evidence base at all haha but I've 2 boys from hitting my OV days perfectly! So going to try and aim for a few days before instead and see what happens 🤣 I don't mind another boy if I feel we at least did attempt to sway!

HavinKittens · 02/07/2023 17:48

@rosecbrm oh awesome, even tho DH and I eloped (covid times) I love a big wedding. I’m going to a big family wedding next weekend and I can’t wait. Hope it is everything you want and more! Yes if this is your first I deffo think keep it fun and no pressure. You’ll fall in no time I bet.

@GinAndBearIt90 aw thank you that’s kind. DH has been great today actually and I’ve had a nap and a cuddle and feel more human.

You’ll have to tell us the good, bad and ugly of having two! Haha, it must be good overall if you’re going for number 3. I come from a big family and want a big family myself but now I’ve had one, I’m not as sure any more!! 😅

I get what you mean about at least having a go at swaying. I would be over the moon to have a girl. I am mentally trying to tell myself if it happens it’ll be a boy though, so I don’t get disappointed. Won’t even let myself think about girl names!

HavinKittens · 02/07/2023 17:49

Oh sorry forgot to say - no I had a blood test at GP and m my progesterone was much lower than it should have been, indicating I hadn’t ovulated. I had positive OPKs that cycle but that isn’t a guarantee. I remember my BBT was all over the shop though so maybe that was a sign. I’m just hoping it was a one off, GP said it probably was 🤞

GinAndBearIt90 · 02/07/2023 21:16

@HavinKittens not going to lie, the first 4 months or so of having 2 was very difficult! Definitely survival mode!! My eldest was only just 2 and a big mummy's boy so I did constantly feel awful for not being able to give him all the attention he needed all of the time...but now that they are a bit older it is so lovely and we definitely found our rhythm ❤️ so much so that we now ideally want a 2ish year gap again rather than the 3ish year gap we originally planned for a third. Starting again a year sooner than we thought we would 😊

If you do have another boy, I can promise you its amazing! Mine only get on about 50% of the time at the moment but I already can tell they are going to be such close friends for each other ❤️ and they are both so so loving to their dad and I! I really would very happily have another son, I just think I would feel a little bit sad to think I would never have a daughter. Will have to wait and see, but 3 healthy babies would be the dream!

That is interesting about your blood test, I didn't know OPKs could be so misleading!! Fingers crossed for you 🤞

Goldie1234 · 03/07/2023 00:06

@Vic231 thinking of you for Tuesday!

@GinAndBearIt90 Oo I'd never heard of swaying as term ? Does it just mean trying at certain times ?

Ahh @HavinKittens did the doctor suggest taking anything or just wait ? Sorry if you've explained this all already 🙈 !

GinAndBearIt90 · 03/07/2023 00:27

@Goldie1234 I'm not sure that there's any actual confirmed science behind it, but there's a bit of a theory that 'male' sperm are faster and more successful at reaching the egg, but that they die out quicker, and that 'female' sperm are slower but have more endurance so they are more likely to survive the few days before ovulation 🤷‍♀️ we've always dtd regularly during fertile week, but always made sure to hit ovulation day as we wanted quick success at conceiving and we've ended up with 2 boys, so I suppose this time were thinking we might just DTD earlier in the fertile week and not on ovulation peak to give more of a chance of conceiving a girl 😅 may take us more cycles to conceive though!

Goldie1234 · 03/07/2023 06:25

Yess this is exactly what I've been doing 😅 had no idea there was a name for it ! Also how we (accidentally) ended up with our little boy because I got my days wrong 🙈👌🏽

HavinKittens · 03/07/2023 06:42

Well if we are successful this cycle then we swayed for a girl cause only DTD 2 days before Ovulation.

@Goldie1234 no apologies needed, happy to chat about it. The GP suggested we do the test again (I’m going in on Thursday this week). If it’s low again then they’ll look at referring me to a fertility clinic and there’s drugs they can give to boost ovulation.

Little help girls... I'm on CD4 should be finishing my AF in the next day or 2, but my LH has shot up... Any ideas?

Come wait with me - July onwards
Unicorn25 · 03/07/2023 07:54

Cycle day 13 for me today and had a positive ovulation stick late last night.

Welcome to the new people.

@GinAndBearIt90 this will be #3 for me too! My first had a 17 month age gap. Hard but amazing, isn't it?

HavinKittens · 03/07/2023 08:09

@Kellyaust might be that you’ll ovulate early this cycle?? Not sure what your peak usually looks like but mine would be when both lines are equally dark, so may still be a few days before you get that. I think some people have LH that goes up and down a few times before they have an actual peak too.

Ah@Unicorn25 you will be joining us for the 2ww fairly soon then!

Come wait with me - July onwards

CinderRosie · 03/07/2023 08:39

Morning everyone - CD18/3DPO and having cramps, far too early for implantation so no idea what this is. I hate the TWW 😖

HavinKittens · 03/07/2023 08:51

Yeah me too @CinderRosie
no real symptoms here except sleeping poorly which I read is caused by the drop in oestrogen after ovulation
bloody hormones

I’m try to eat healthier at the moment but I know I’ll start craving soon

OP posts:
CinderRosie · 03/07/2023 09:29

I always sleep poorly in the luteal phase as well. The other month I had a night of literally zero sleep which was hell, since then I try to make a conscious effort of good sleep hygiene after ovulation - making sure room is cool, try to keep off my phone for a couple of hours before bed, listen to sleep meditations etc.

Kellyaust · 03/07/2023 10:20

@HavinKittens yes my peak is when both lines are equally as dark too and that's usually CD18 ish... I'm on CD4 so I've no idea why it's jumped it's never usually does at this stage 🤷‍♀️

CurlyWurly1991 · 03/07/2023 10:25

My sleep is also dreadful at certain points in the luteal phase. Tracking has helped me pinpoint this to around 5-8dpo for the worst sleep/anxiety/stress. I’m going to try and make a more conscious effort to avoid stressful situations around that time and tough work meetings etc if possible, as it has really messed with me at times! When I get the bad insomnia it is like nothing helps. I might start taking some valerian or something on top of current dose to try and anticipate that crappy phase.

Unicorn25 · 03/07/2023 23:25

@HavinKittens according to Premom tomorrow is 1dpo. That sits about right with me as I've had ovulation pains all day, following my peak last night so I'm pretty sure it's happened. Hope it goes fast for us.

GinAndBearIt90 · 03/07/2023 23:53

@Unicorn25 aww yay I can't get my head round this being #3! Feels crazy 🙈 all my friends seem to be stopping at 2! You probably had an even crazier time with your smaller gap, I found 25 months gap a little nuts 😅 it's massively paying off now though for sure! Good luck for this cycle!

Abs014 · 04/07/2023 07:31

Hiya! Hope it’s okay for me to join this thread? I’m TTC #2, I must be crazy as my firstborn is 14 this year! This is our 2nd month and I’m currently 8DPO 😊 the 2WW is a so tricky! I know implantation is usually 9DPO, I’ve had no spotting yet. The only thing that I feel is different is the last 3 nights I’ve had to get up at some awful hour to pee and I never usually do! AF is due Monday 10th. Is it worth testing using an early test on Thursday? I’ll be 10DPO by then?

HavinKittens · 04/07/2023 08:16

Hello and welcome @Abs014 of course you are more than welcome to join!

the 2ww can be hard!! I’m 4dpo and feeling impatient

I have tested at 10dpo many time before with early detection and with my first that was when I got my first positive, although it was faint. It’s a personal choice whether you want the chance of knowing sooner or want to be definitely sure by doing a test 14-15dpo.

I know myself and other ladies on the thread have found testing early can be tricky because you might get evaps or
Chemicals and that can be heartbreaking when it doesn’t turn out to be a positive.
