@HavinKittens maybe it's all very silly calculating - some people are super close with an 8 year age gap (my best friend and her sis) and some twins can't stand each other so... 🤷🏻‍♀️

HavinKittens · 30/06/2023 10:32

Totally! I have five siblings, with 4-18 year age gap. I’m closest to the siblings 4years and 16 years older than me. Much more to do with our personalities.

LlamaMamma · 30/06/2023 10:40

@HavinKittens did you play together as children with the sibling 4 years older? I mean like 2 and 6 or 4 and 10, that kind of age. Or was the gap too big at that age?

I have a sister who is 27 months older and we're super close, played together all our childhood so maybe that's skewing my perception of things. Also a brother 6 years older, we're close now but felt like we were always at different life stages when we were kids

PollyDarton1 · 30/06/2023 10:51

Hey all, sorry I've not been around last couple of days, I felt rotten and now DP is feeling unwell too!

Definitely not pregnant, I did a Boots test yesterday morning which had nothing, and I think I'd be around 12-13DPO now. I might do another this morning just to defo rule out but I carried on very slightly bleeding across 5 days (ending Weds) so I'm sure as I can be that it was just a period. Strange that it happened like 6 days past ovulating but maybe I didn't ovulate then at all. I haven't a clue.

My boobs are still sore and I feel cramping/pinching a bit but more that likely left over hormones from period. Honestly could have sworn I was pregnant, I felt identical to how I did when I had DS! That said, could have been a chemical and the weird lines (which I think were evaps now though) could have picked up something very early?

LlamaMamma · 30/06/2023 10:52

Is anyone else's husband difficult to persuade to go for a sperm analysis 😂? He says he finds it embarrassing but surely at the grand age of 31 you'd just... be a big boy and stop caring what complete strangers, who are either doctors / nurses who do this daily or other patients in the waiting room, think?

LlamaMamma · 30/06/2023 10:53

@PollyDarton1 oh no that's so confusing!! Strange either way - early for period but also if you're pregnant why didn't the tests continue and if they're evaps why so many 🤔 are you feeling any better?

HavinKittens · 30/06/2023 11:08

I wonder if it maybe was a chemical @PollyDarton1 cause your tests and symptoms seemed to be all over the shop. If it wasn’t then I would guess you ovulated 12-14 days before you started bleeding.

@LlamaMamma yes we played together until he became a teenager and then he was more interested in his friends and gaming but we have always been close and have only become closer as adults.

Oh and I really doubt my DH would go for sperm analysis. Only if we were absolutely desperate. He never goes to a doctor as is. I think he would say he’s already fathered two children so it can’t be a problem with his sperm.

LlamaMamma · 30/06/2023 11:12

@HavinKittens my husband is really really not keen 😄 I made him go when he first proposed because I've always wanted kids, feel like it's my life purpose, I'm never happier than when I'm with my daughter etc, and it said his sperm is ok but not amazing. Then his test results arrived almost the same day as I tested positive with my daughter. And now he's saying he will maybe go in winter if we're still struggling. It's the middle of summer now though!

PollyDarton1 · 30/06/2023 11:55

I really have no clue. My ovulation date tallied up with the CM I was having and other symptoms, and I looked over the OPK from the date I should have ovulated by period arriving.

I've just done a Boots and Easy@Home and both are negative. I think I just had some really bad luck with evaps and symptoms (I need to remember my periods are only now just becoming regular again) rather than anything else. It's disheartening and I think I'm going to take TTC off the table next month, I'll track temp and OPK for data purposes but unless I've got some real hard evidence of pregnancy (eg missed period 12-14 days post ovulation) then I am not going to test. Would save me a fortune too!

PollyDarton1 · 30/06/2023 11:56

Oh and DP is happy to have sperm analysis but I don't know where to start? What is the recommended facility to do so apart from NHS? We'd need to expedite the process as I'm 39 in six months!

So I sent my husband to a private clinic and I think it was somewhere around £100? That's in central London. My gynae technically analysed the results but we didn't look at the results in too much detail because I got pregnant. Presumably you could take the results to an NHS GP or a private andrologist?

LA7887 · 30/06/2023 12:06

@LlamaMamma very possibly. I'm not over thinking it just now, what will be will be. I'll wait til my period is closer

@PollyDarton1 so sorry to hear about the bfns. I had something similar last month, wasn’t doing OPKs but had fertile cm and cervical position etc. My bbt generally suggested that I didn’t ovulate, but I missed out loads of temps while travelling in the second half of the cycle. Around cd 23 I started having loads of symptoms very similar to when I was pg before, even spd. I was convinced, but didn’t test early (kind of wish I had) anyway I got several negative tests then a light bleed followed. My guess in my case is that I didn’t actually ovulate and the symptoms were really high oestrogen unopposed by progesterone… alternatively might have been a failed implantation, although it is assumed that the symptoms only follow with rising hcg after implantation. However I know there is a lot about womens health, fertility etc that is not yet understood by western medical science and I would trust your instincts - perhaps is it was a CP 😞
in my news I’m 8dpo and waiting to test. Raging Pms but don’t know if that signifies much. Can be sure I ovulated this month based on the bbt chart which is reassuring at least.

LlamaMamma · 30/06/2023 15:24

I'm also having the weirdest symptoms- got a cold which is very unlike me (my husband, baby and parents who we're currently visiting all without the cold, normally I'm the one with the strongest immune system), nearly fainted whilst walking down the stairs (been eating fine, not starving), cramps 2 days ago at night... 🤔 but 12dpo negative test

CinderRosie · 30/06/2023 15:55

@HavinKittens I'm going to delay testing until AF is due. Last cycle I didn't test until I started getting spotting at 12ish DPO, as I started thinking it was implantation and I caved... I always spot before AF though.

PollyDarton1 · 30/06/2023 20:41

@CurlyWurly1991 come to think about it my BBT never confirmed I'd ovulated, but then I missed a few days. I had all the symptoms I usually have when I ovulate but stronger, and even though the light period has stopped I'm still having symptoms that usually stop midway through my bleed (cramps, sore breasts, headaches, sense of smell heightened). Honestly I could have sworn I was pregnant, I wasn't really trying to symptom spot but it was crazy how similar they were/are. I've got near constant tightening around my public bone, pelvic pain, sore breasts etc.

HavinKittens · 01/07/2023 09:11

Morning all
I’m having a bit of a rough time over here.
DS has been awake since 5 and DH is still in bed, sleeping off his night out.
He hardly ever goes out so I don’t feel like I can go and wake him but DS has been pretty hard work.
I’ve had 24 hours + of solo parenting now and I feel depleted! It makes me question how on earth I would manage a second one!?

Didn’t manage to DTD so it’s only been once in my fertile window this cycle. So definitely not getting my hopes up this time. Determined not to test and just wait for my period.

Anyone else feel like their DH wants intimacy LESS since they’ve been ttc??

DmcinT · 01/07/2023 09:43

@HavinKittens oh I’m sorry ur having a hard time, it’s full on solo parenting ❤️
and rem once is enough, it only takes 1 🙏🏽😉 how close to O did u get to dtd?

i deff think the pressure of having to perform puts them off doing it at all, I know my DH has said this in the past. U would think they’d be loving life 😅 but it must make them overthink it a lot

CurlyWurly1991 · 01/07/2023 09:46

@HavinKittens sounds like crappy morning 😞 will you get any time for yourself over the weekend?
yes since TTC it has changed the dynamic between DH and I regarding intimacy. It sure will become draining if it goes on for months/years of TTC.
@PollyDarton1 i still don’t know if I ovulated last cycle but had a bunch of symptoms then af came at what would have been 9dpo. If you’re using fertility friend did it detect ovulation? Sorry can’t remember if you said this already. I have the vip membership and find it really good although much of it is there in the free version.

CinderRosie · 01/07/2023 09:47

@HavinKittens sorry you're having a rubbish start to the weekend! You are definitely owed some time to yourself from your DH when he wakes up. As well at DTD 😜

I'm finding DH is up for it but it is me who needs to instigate things and remind him what day of my FW I'm on and that we need to do it. We didn't mange to last night because we had a mini argument about it 🙄 My BBT is still low today so I feel I ovulated either yesterday or it's happening today and we last DTD Thursday. I just can't see how anything could survive that long to wait for the egg although I understand it can survive 5 days sometimes.

LlamaMamma · 01/07/2023 09:49

@HavinKittens solo parenting is hard isn't it!! Especially at this age when they want to eat every object they see and climb onto everything that's not suitable for climbing...
hopefully he'll be up soon and you can have a nice cuppa in peace!!

LA7887 · 01/07/2023 10:45

@HavinKittens oh no, wait til he gets up and then go back to bed. Get a wee nap in!
I can't say anything as out of me and my DH I am the one who goes out more 🙈.

I do worry about having a second sometimes but my son loves babies and actually has asked for a brother or sister so I'm hoping it will be a good thing and even he will help :)

X

HavinKittens · 02/07/2023 10:04

Thank you everyone for your kind replies. It made me feel better. Didn’t sleep well last night but feeling alright today. My temp shot up this morning so I guess I did ovulate in the last couple days.

hope you’re all doing okay? X

Hi everyone a little update from me, scan is on Tuesday when I'll be 6+1. Bleeding has officially stopped, so I bled not lightly but also not heavily for 5 days, so in my mind I'm thinking it was a chemical and just a 8 day late period. I do feel sick off and on though and tired and headachy but I'm thinking that might just be the worry and anxiety. We shall see 🤍
