Today is day one of 5mg of letrozole for me. I have irregular cycles so really hoping this helps sort me out 🤞

Anyone else in the same boat or have happy stories to share?

@Anon9899 I did have creamy discharge on 1st May and then egg white discharge on 2nd and 3rd May so I assumed it would be around that time too. I have tested for pregnancy just incase but a negative so I'm torn at the moment. Like I said I'm away next weekend for my partners birthday and if I did ovulate around CD12 then I could have my period any day now but I don't know if I should take a period delay tablet to make sure we can just have fun other than worrying I could bleed at any time. Then I think at least if I do I can start my next cycle of Letrozole. Then I think if I didn't ovulate til a few days ago I would be taking delay tablets during my TWW. I'm so confused

Sorry for the slow reply, haven't had much brain space recently! I've just been at the clinic this morning for yet another scan (CD22.) Lining is gradually thickening, now at 3.8mm but follicles seem to be shrinking so this cycle looks like it has failed for me 😔

They are just debating whether to up my dose or not (they are worried about this overstimulating me since I am very petite) and whether to induce a bleed before the next cycle. Since they were monitoring me because my lining is thin at the best of times I've tried to suggest not inducing a bleed first but the nurse is speaking to the consultant and then going to get back to me.

@shoegirl36 have you got any medical professionals you can consult for your situation? I am finding it tough enough trying to work out what's going on even with 3 scans this cycle alone and medical professionals to talk it through with. It must be even harder with no support at all! I would hazard a guess looking at your lack of obvious peak that perhaps you are in the same boat as me and haven't quite managed to get over the line with ovulation yet this cycle but it really is a guess without any scans or blood tests!

@Anon9899 I'm so sorry that you're not where you'd want to be in your cycle and where you'd want things to be in general. Tbh no there's no one for me to consult but yesterday my period came on cd32 so my cycle is down by over half the time and I didn't have to induce this bleed. Tbh this week I'm going to take my Letrozole and concentrate on having fun this weekend for my partners birthday. It was all getting abit much if I'm honest with the questions and worries I had so going to try and chill out abit. I hope that you get what you want from your doctors, and I hope that they listen to you because you know your body the best x

WafflesNCream · 23/05/2023 16:18

@Anon9899 so sorry to hear this cycle is a bust. It happened to me a few times - I had follicles growing and then they stopped. There’s still a chance!
@shoegirl36 Sounds like you must’ve ovulated this cycle, wouldn’t have gotten AF otherwise! Have the best time this weekend!
I’ve just got my BFP and I’m very happy, but also terrified. My period didn’t arrive for over a week after stopping Duphaston and I caved in and tested. Buying a pregnancy test in a foreign pharmacy was an adventure to say the least 😂 Honestly I still can’t believe this is actually happening

Anon9899 · 23/05/2023 17:47

Oh my goodness @WafflesNCream that is amazing news!! Congratulations!!! You must be absolutely over the moon 🥳🥳🥳 Thank you for sharing, you have given me some hope just when I needed it most ❤

@shoegirl36 I know AF is never welcome but that is actually great news for you that your cycles are regulating. It must be working its magic after all!

@Anon9899 yea it's a weird one to be happy to see it this cycle but it came right before our holiday so I'm pleased that it will be gone by Friday so can enjoy the weekend without the worry of anticipating a period. Hopefully next one could be our one 🤞 x
@WafflesNCream ahhhhh congratulations I'm so pleased for you.. sending you all the luck on the happiest and healthiest pregnancy ❤️ x

graceinc22 · 23/05/2023 19:54

@WafflesNCream absolutely amazing news - congrats 🎉🎉🎉

WafflesNCream · 24/05/2023 12:45

Thank you girls, I’m so happy, but also super scared that something will go wrong.
@Anon9899 hang in there, your reaction to letrozole seems identical to mine, my follicles and/or lining didn’t want to grow enough, but it only takes one lucky cycle. I have everything crossed for you x

Obione1 · 25/05/2023 08:49

Amazing news @WafflesNCream :)

Bit of a rollercoaster yesterday, my consultant said to go ahead with the Ovulation induction (this was on the phone) so i got very excited, and then she said 'oh wait, I don't have conclusive evidence your tubes aren't blocked, you need a laparoscopy', which i had in 2014, I didn't want to do more surgery and I was crying at this point (not a crier normally) so my husband asked if there was any other way. Thankful to him, because now today (in about an hour) i'm having an HSG which i've heard is SO painful but can't be as painful as the Hycosys I had, that was unbearable. Why do we have to keep having things shoved up us? lol i'm getting pre-anxious at the thought of this happening now but at least I'll know and then can carry on or go to IVF. Good news is that husbands SA came back full marks!

WafflesNCream · 25/05/2023 13:03

@Obione1 thank you. Hopefully it’s not too painful for you. I had to push back on laparoscopy and did HyCoSy instead. It was painful but quick, so small mercies.

Anon9899 · 26/05/2023 14:13

Thanks @WafflesNCream it is a real comfort to hear of someone who has been in my situation and has now had success a couple of months down the line. All is not lost!!! Hope things are going well for you and that you are starting to believe it's actually happening??

@Obione1 hope it all went well yesterday and wasnt too awful. I haven't had one yet but I think the clinic have said I will do in a cycle or two if this fails.

I've just heard that the clinic are going to start me on a higher dose of letrozole at the end of next week without inducing a bleed first. I need to wait until next week to make sure I'm not pregnant first. I'm pleased that they arent going to force a period because my lining might actually be in with a shot at being thick enough now!

@Anon9899 Great news! I hope the higher dose will do the trick. I still cannot believe this is happening and I constantly worry that something will go wrong. I wish I could fast forward to second trimester…

Got this today! 14dpo on my third cycle of letrozole! Can’t believe it!!!!

Letrozole first cycle
shoegirl36 · 03/07/2023 17:51

@graceinc22 ahhh that's incredible... massive congratulations.
Can I be nosey and ask what dose you were on and what else you did that might have helped you on the way to baby bliss x

graceinc22 · 03/07/2023 17:54

Of course!! I was on 5mg, taken days 2-6
used fertility lube and had sex every other day when I thought ovulation was approaching, wasn’t on any supplements or anything except vit d and folic acid
my husband has some morphology issues so he was on wellman conception
also went on a lovely holiday the week before ovulation and walked up some mountains 😅
didn’t get a positive opk this cycle but they scanned me and i had ovulated
really can’t believe it as it didn’t feel it would happen. Have been feeling pretty down recently. Patience and time x

shoegirl36 · 03/07/2023 17:59

@graceinc22 that's amazing, I've been struggling with decision makings recently. Cycles gone down from 75 days to 40 then 32 and now 28 so that's a good sign but aside from my first cycle I've not had a positive opk so ive been toying with going up to 7.5mg. My next cycle will be cycle 5 and nothing. What do you think? I'm having sex regular when I think im around the ovulation time, I try to keep an eye on cervical mucus too. The supplements I have feel like because I'm down to a 28 day cycle that they're helping. It's so confusing.
But seriously the biggest congratulations, sending love and so much luck to you and your partner.

graceinc22 · 03/07/2023 19:14

Hugs. It’s really hard. especially when you can’t see an end in sight.

Could you be monitored at all with scans to see if you’re ovulating - this month I didn’t have a positive opk but clearly did ovulate (and it was confirmed in a scan - so reassuring). They mentioned that if they’d seen a developed follicle that they would have given me a trigger shot - so I think that checking can be helpful

Also are you charting your temp. For me that’s been by far the most reliable way of working out if I’m ovulating and when. It doesn’t help me predict when I’m going to ovulate at all but it is very reassuring and allows you to know when to stop trying so intensely 😅

shoegirl36 · 03/07/2023 19:21

@graceinc22 tbh I've not had the doctor's involvement recently. They've let me down time and time again so took matters into my own hands recently. Please don't judge I know taking Letrozole without doctor's supervision can be dangerous. I tried using bbt tracking but after months of watching there were no patterns to watch out for, also using LH strips is the only way I have some kind of idea. It's kind of like I'm playing blind if that makes any sense.

graceinc22 · 04/07/2023 07:02

No judgment at all. This is such a stressful and difficult process. Also in my nhs clinic we were only actively monitored for the first cycle (out of 3) to check it was working but not working too much. Really hope things come together for you soon ❤️

Obione1 · 04/07/2023 17:49

Congrats @graceinc22 - so so exciting!

So i had my Hycosys & it was actually pain free - and all was clear. I went on holiday for 2 weeks and now i'm back we can begin our first round. I took provera and tonight is my first dose of Letrazole. I'm nervous and excited at the same time.
Question for the group - my first 10 day scan is scheduled in for the 12th July - does that mean we'll see if I'm pregnant or not around the 27th July or a week later? I ask, because that's my birthday and I don't want to have that hanging over that date if it's a negative lol

How is everyone else getting on?

Anon9899 · 04/07/2023 18:29

@graceinc22 huge congrats!!! We love positive stories to give the rest of us hope 😍

@shoegirl36 it is really frustrating having to be patient isnt it, but sounds good if your cycles are shortening!

@Obione1 good luck for the first dose! Hope you dont get any side effects. It was all fine for me, just a slight headache on the first day. Dates depend on how soon you ovulate really, first cycle I got scanned day 12 but didnt ovulate until day 19.

Then 2nd cycle it didn't make me ovulate so they did a random start of a new cycle without inducing a bleed due to worries over my lining thickness. But then I ovulated by myself midway through taking the tablets (confirmed with ultrasound and blood tests) so the whole cycle was a mess! I didn't conceive anyway despite ovulating and it apparently being a really good progesterone reading. So now they've taken me off the tablets totally until I can speak to the consultant early August. So more waiting!!! Hope my body can ovulate by itself before then though... it tends to get there just takes ages, last month I ovulated CD35 🙃
