Today is day one of 5mg of letrozole for me. I have irregular cycles so really hoping this helps sort me out 🤞

Anyone else in the same boat or have happy stories to share?

@Anotherboredhousewife what cd did you have your scan? My lining was 5.1 mm on cd 12 and my consultant said it might grow a little, but she wasn’t too optimistic.

Anon9899 · 22/04/2023 21:41

@Anotherboredhousewife the nurse I saw on the day of my scan just said that it should thicken up a little after ovulation too and didnt seem to think it meant it was a write off - mine was much thinner than yours at 3.4mm although that did turn out to be a week before ovulation.

She said that for IVF they now implant at 5mm so clearly 6mm is not an impossibility for a viable implantation!

Just wanted to pop in and say hey, hope you're all well x

Anon9899 · 25/04/2023 16:40

@shoegirl36 4dpo for me, worried that my nipples seem to be getting less sore already which is normally a sign AF is on her way. Hope that's not that case!! Thankfully having my mind taken off the TWW with lots of house sale/move stuff.

How are you holding up??

OP posts:
shoegirl36 · 25/04/2023 16:50

@Anon9899 hopefully it's not the case and yes it's always a helpful distraction something as big as house and move related to keep your mind off the TWW. Keeping everything crossed for you.
I'm alright, it's my last day of Letrozole for this cycle today so starting my LH testing and going to keep positive and try and keep upbeat. Already started the every other day baby dancing 😜😂Bit of a rubbish one for me this week. The baby I lost would have been 1 this Thursday so trying to distract myself.

Anon9899 · 25/04/2023 22:11

@shoegirl36 it must be very tough having a big milestone like that to contend with. Hope you get a nice peak LH test soon to take your mind off it!!

How’s everyone doing?
@shoegirl36 how’s your LH progression? Hopefully all is going in the right direction.
My AF arrived super early this month, so we’re moving onto cycle 5. I’m disappointed and really losing hope that letrozole will work for me.

shoegirl36 · 30/04/2023 10:28

@WafflesNCream hey hun, thanks for asking. I've been taking the 5mg Letrozole and have noticed that since upping the dose I've had no side effects and no pains like I was having on 2.5, this could just be coincidence but it's a win in my book. I tracked LH up until cycle day 8 and it was low but a steady line, my and the partner came away for the weekend (some well needed time together) away from dramas at home and people we live with etc, it's given us a chance to just talk and be together and enjoyed each others company. So I didn't test yesterday or today but I will be back to testing either later tonight when we get home or tomorrow. Hopefully this cycle is a lucky one for you ❤️ x

Anon9899 · 02/05/2023 18:02

Hi guys, sorry I've been so quiet! Things have been hectic.

My BBT was looking really good this cycle which I was hoping was a good sign but AF has arrived today too @WafflesNCream so feeling really down about it all. I always find the first day really tough and then pull my socks up... but think I just need to wallow today. Hoping at the very least the BBT chart looking healthy is a sign that I actually ovulated properly and perhaps wasn't before as its previously been super spikey - had a blood test Friday so hopefully results of that will confirm.

On to the next cycle now I guess 😔

Hope things are looking up for you @shoegirl36

@Anon9899 I'm so sorry to hear you're having a down day. But at least you can see a positive if nothing else. Keep your chin up hun. Things are looking okay, still waiting for a peak LH test this cycle, on cd 13 and nothing yet. Keeping everything crossed.

shoegirl36 · 04/05/2023 14:23

@Anon9899 @WafflesNCream @CrispAppleStrudels @Booklover88 @Anotherboredhousewife hey all, hope you're all well. Just want some advice really. You know I started Letrozole 2.5mg my last cycle and I had a peak LH test on cd15. Today is cycle day 15 and there's been no sign of a peak LH test, the only difference is I took 5mg Letrozole this cycle. Do you think this could be too high for me, do you think that I could just be getting used to the dose? I'm so confused and feeling irritable because of it. Any and all your advise and experiences are welcome. Thanks in advance. I've attached my chart for this cycle incase a hone can make sense of it x

Anon9899 · 04/05/2023 21:49

@shoegirl36 I'm only on cd3 of my 2nd cycle so no idea yet how regular it's going to make my cycles! Last cycle though (5mg, same as I'm taking atm) I didn't get a peak until day 20 so still time for you! Looks like it could be rising from your chart so 🤞 tomorrow is your day and the fun can start.

I had a horrible day on Tuesday when AF arrived and cried a lot. Phoned the clinic yesterday to ask whether my bloods had come back and to check if I should stay on the same dose. Good news is bloods confirmed I ovulated but they are still worried about my thin lining so they are going to scan me again this cycle.

Very happy to be monitored again and for their input but pretty convinced the lining will still be thin if not even thinner as the scan will be cd11 and it was cd14 last time.

Anyone any idea what can be done for a thin lining?? I've read oestrogen helps but letrozole is an oestrogen blocker so not sure how that works, unless you take it after the letrozole days...

shoegirl36 · 04/05/2023 22:07

@Anon9899 I'm pleased that someone I trust to talk to has peaked later that the point I'm at now, plus glad you think my chart looks like it's heading in the right direction... I'm glad to hear you're ovulating that's definitely a positive, there's got to be something they can do for the lining now, at least you know where the issue lies now and can focus on fixing that. If you ever need to talk I'm always here x

Anon9899 · 05/05/2023 08:39

@shoegirl36 thank you, same goes! Yes you're right - always better to know where the issue is so they know how to treat it.

Hope your peak arrives today! Does it tend to happen suddenly or can you normally see a gradual rise? Only cd4 for me today so a way off anything exciting happening...

OP posts:
shoegirl36 · 05/05/2023 09:43

@Anon9899 I'm hoping it will appear suddenly because I've tested this morning and LH is less than it's been all cycle. It's so disheartening because this time last cycle I'd had the biggest peak I'd ever had before so kind of expected the same this cycle and so far nothing. Even testing more than once a day but nope. It feels like I'm doing everything right, I take the supplements, Letrozole, drink loads of fluids etc and still nothing. I just feel crappy because my body has one job and it can't even do that.

shoegirl36 · 05/05/2023 10:10

Just wanted to attach my charts to see what you think... one is last cycle and one is this cycle... the one with the obvious peak is my last cycle.

Sorry I’ve been quiet, just needed a few days to process.
@shoegirl36 unfortunately I don’t know much about the OPKs. I tried to use them, but with my PCOS they were all over the place and I couldn’t make any sense out of it. Silly idea, but if you drink a lot, is it possible that your pee is diluted?
@Anon9899 I hope you lining gets better. I had very thin lining during my 1st cycle, then really healthy one in the 2nd. I’ve read that letrozole can thin lining, but, unlike clomid, it’s not a cumulative effect. So just because your lining was thin in the last cycle doesn’t mean it’ll get thinner this one.
I’m mid way through cycle no 5. I’m going on holidays, so not getting scanned this month. It feels a bit weird not having to go to the clinic every other day.

shoegirl36 · 05/05/2023 17:54

@WafflesNCream I hope you're feeling abit better 🥰 I have PCOS so can only really use them as a guide too, guess I'm just disappointed because I thought Letrozole was my answer and was expecting a positive LH as strong as my last cycle this time too... felt abit shattering when it's been so low all cycle. I do drink a lot too which may be to do with it, I just hope something happens soon @Anon9899 omg have the most wonderful time away, could do your body and mind the world of good. I've read so many times it's when people aren't so focused that they fall pregnant x

Anon9899 · 10/05/2023 20:58

Hey everyone how are we all getting on? Any signs of ovulation yet this cycle? I have my cd11 scan on Friday. Pretty certain my womb lining is still going to be awful but hoping that once they've confirmed it for the second cycle in a row they'll be able to give me something to help 🤞

OP posts:
shoegirl36 · 10/05/2023 21:14

Hey @Anon9899 how were your holidays? I've had no sign of ovulation but apparently I might have had it and not realised so not recorded a peak. My highest result this cycle was on cd the same as my first cycle but it wasn't a obvious peak on the test. Been testing twice a day most days if not once daily since and nothing higher yet, barely any LH this cycle at all really. Sending you all the luck in the world for your scan x

P.s I've attached the difference in my tests cycle one and cycle two on Letrozole (different doses)

It was @WafflesNCream who went off on holidays I think 🙂 but the bank holiday was much needed and my brain is still being kept busy with house stuff which is good because I find the wait for ovulation the most stressful part of the whole month! Like with you girls it's just waiting and wondering if/when it will happen this month after many irregular cycles. Must be dreamy to just know you are going to ovulate on a certain day each cycle and not to have to track it so religiously

It does look like it got pretty high on cd12 for you this cycle so fingers crossed that was it and that you'd just drank a lot of water and had very diluted pee that day!

shoegirl36 · 11/05/2023 05:45

@Anon9899 yea sorry hun the brain fog is real at the moment, having a bit of a hard time with my partner. Before I was on any tablets I was forever hoping and praying for ovulation, testing, miracle cures and nothing. I take all the different capsules I've been advised both pharmaceutical and holistic methods. Just nothing seems to happen at all. None of them make any difference to me. My partner looks at me like I'm crazy when I get so hung up on testing and looking at which line is darker than the rest. I do think even when men are fully committed to trying they don't truly get it

Anon9899 · 11/05/2023 11:17

@shoegirl36 yes I think the fact that it's naturally down to us to monitor all our bodily signs that ovulation is approaching means that it is so easy to get totally wrapped up in it and unable to think of anything else. Men are able to distance themselves from it without the constant reminder checking for CM every time they wipe after a pee etc!

Although having said that my husband got pretty obsessive with it last cycle texting me constantly to ask how my peak was looking and after ovulation whether I had any symptoms etc bless him. Just feel guilty that it's down to my body that it's not happening even though I know it's not for lack of trying!

I think medication has a place - I monitored ovulation for 4 years with no joy. NHS ran numerous tests and it wasn't until we went private that I found out I have PCOS and actually don't ovulate. Letrozole made me ovulate and it of course changed our lives 🙂
