Conceiving after ectopic

Can anyone share their experiences of conceiving after an ectopic?

I had one last year, medical management rather than surgery and I still have both tubes, albeit they said it might cause some residual scarring on the left tube.

Been trying to get pregnant for 3 months now which I know is nothing in the grand scheme of things, but I'm going into my fertile window now and I'd love to hear some positivity from other people ❤️

I have had a healthy pregnancy before, pre-ectopic.

My Sis conceived after an ectopic. She was 38 when her daughter was born.

Sunflower1235 · 20/03/2023 06:34

@AnxiousMoma @DeeCeeCherry thank you for sharing need these stories so badly

KG89 · 22/03/2023 16:00

@FingersCrossedXXX unfortunately one of them was just bad luck and stuck in the tube and the other one occurred due to previous scar tissue from a caesarean with my first born and it got stuck again. It’s terrifying and obviously all I ever did during my successful pregnancy was worry it will happen again. But try to have hope. Wish you all the best x

Wonderfullife11 · 18/04/2023 20:00

Hi Ladies. just been reading this thread as I had an ectopic pregnancy with tube removed last November. We’ve had one successful pregnancy before this. Praying we are able to get pregnant again soon. 🙏
Really sorry to hear about having another ectopic @lemonyfox. 😞 that’s such a hard thing to go through! Hope you have the support you need 💕

SuperGinger · 18/04/2023 20:25

Oh no, you poor thing lots of hugs xx

Rainbowwishing · 20/04/2023 23:17

So sorry to read it's another ectopic @lemonyfox. How are you doing? xx

FingersCrossedXXX · 27/04/2023 11:09

@lemonyfox So sorry to hear you have experienced another ectopic pregnancy. How are you feeling? Did you have to have surgery?

Hoping I might be able to get some opinions. My period is 3 days late and I have taken a couple of pregnancy tests which show very faint positives. I am around 15dpo. Shouldn't these be stronger by now? I am panicking slightly as with my first healthy pregnancy, I got a strong positive quickly where as with the last pregnancy, which was ectopic, the test was very faint.

Thank you. Yeah I had surgery to remove one of my tubes, I'm feeling better with each new day though.

Hopefully it's just late implantation for you? Or maybe a chemical. I understand your worries though, with my first ectopic I did have a very very faint pregnancy test with lots of negatives either side of it. I know EPUs are very cautious with ladies who have had ectopics before so maybe give them a ring for some advice. Fingers crossed it's a positive outcome for you.

@lemonlemonyfox Glad to hear you are starting to feel better. Did you just begin to have pains and bleeding?

It could be slightly late but I last had sex 2 weeks ago so it can't be too far out really. The EPU advised me after my last ectopic to call them when I next had a positive as they would give me a scan at 6 weeks to make sure it is in right location. I am going to try and hold out and test again tomorrow with a first response and then give them a call. Hopefully test is stronger tomorrow but feeling nervous.

I had no symptoms at all, didn't even know I was pregnant. We must have conceived Feb or March but I even kept on having periods and peak OPKs and all the associated ovulation changes. I only found out I was pregnant in A&E when they told me at the same time as telling me my tube had ruptured.

Are you having any pains or other associated red flags?

OP posts:
FingersCrossedXXX · 27/04/2023 14:15

@lemonlemonyfox That is so bizarre! Did you go to A&E as in pain once the rupture had happened? So lucky you went to get checked out.

No, I don't have any other red flags or pregnancy symptoms but I was lucky with my son in that I never felt any different so not having symptoms isn't unusual for me. Even with the ectopic, all I had was a small amount of bleeding when I wiped, there was no pain.

maria2bela1 · 30/04/2023 20:21

I had ectopic pregnancy, left tube removed. I went on to conceive 2 babies after :)

lemonyfox · 31/07/2023 20:44

Thought I'd revive this thread and check in. We're still TTC after the second ectopic in April and still no luck. I've been referred for a HyCoSy scan in the next 4-6 weeks, to see whether my remaining tube is viable or not, as the medical management methotrexate ectopic was in my remaining tube.

Everyone in the world is pregnant and it's so disheartening.

Sunflower1235 · 31/07/2023 20:47

Uh I feel yoh it’s so so tough I’m considering doing IVF by the end of the year if I’m not pregnant. It’s just not fun anymore. I did a hycosy and it showed my tube was open good luck with it. It’s a really straight forward procedure and uncomfortable at most!

lemonyfox · 01/08/2023 08:15

@Sunflower1235 were thinking the same, depending on what the hycosy shows. If it's clear then try for another month or two. It then after that we'll start down the IVF route. We'll have been trying for a year in December and it feels like a lifetime!

Ah good to know it's not an uncomfortable procedure. Did you take your partner with you to the appointment or were you okay on your own?

OP posts:
Sunflower1235 · 01/08/2023 08:31

I went on my own! It’s honestly fine and it’s good piece of mind. But 3 months since I haven’t conceived and it’s just soooo disheartening. Meanwhile everyone around me has a kid and is getting pregnant so easily!

lemonyfox · 01/08/2023 18:26

@Sunflower1235 I'm sorry, I'm holding out the same hope that hycosys give you a little fertility boost like I'm sure you were so I totally get why you're even more disappointed

@lemonlemonyfox @sunflower1235 Hi ladies. Sorry to hear that you are still struggling. We have been trying since last August and have had 2 losses during that time.

Since my last post, I did have a confirmed second ectopic pregnancy in the same tube (previously treated with Methotrexate). So this time I decided to have my tube removed and it's a good job as during the surgery they noticed it had ruptured.

I'm back trying again and have today tested and have what could be a faint positive (it's still 5 days before period!) or is an evap. I have had evaps before on this brand which came up after the valid time period but this did come up in the 3 mins. What do you think?

Omgggg def looks positive to me!!! Congrats! And for 5 days before period looks strong enough. Fingers crossed for you. So wait does that mean you conceived with one tube?? That gives me so much hope that it’s actually possible! Which tube did u have removed? Xxx

I'm going to pop out this morning and get a first response but I really hope it is a positive and no issues this time. It'll still be a nerve wrecking time until I can get my early scan. I started having brown blood the last 2 times, with no other symptoms so will be on high alert.

Yes, I had my right tube removed in May. Apparently you can still get pregnant from both sides as the remaining tube can suck the egg down from the opposite side too but think it's less likely from that side. How long have you been trying since your last loss?

Sunflower1235 · 07/08/2023 09:15

I had my right tube removed in March! Been trying 4 months now and it just feels so long every month is a disappointment. Trying to stay positive as it’s still early days- but just cannot understand how one tube can do the trick effectively in my head it should take twice as long to get pregnant so hearing your story really makes me happy!

FingersCrossedXXX · 07/08/2023 10:46

@sunflower1235 That's what I thought too. I was also told it does alternate between ovaries and could happen like 3 times one side, 2 the next and so on.

I couldn't get a hold of a first response, not sure why they are so hard to find in the shops! I bought the boots ones which I've heard good things about. It is positive again but still very light!
