Conceiving after ectopic

Can anyone share their experiences of conceiving after an ectopic?

I had one last year, medical management rather than surgery and I still have both tubes, albeit they said it might cause some residual scarring on the left tube.

Been trying to get pregnant for 3 months now which I know is nothing in the grand scheme of things, but I'm going into my fertile window now and I'd love to hear some positivity from other people ❤️

I have had a healthy pregnancy before, pre-ectopic.

Hoping I can join this thread... I just had an ectopic through which my tube ruptured a month ago. We're trying again this cycle as due to my age (37) I don't want to hang around.
I already have a DD with whom my pregnancy was completely uneventful. They did pick a 10cm cyst in an early scan though and suspected I had endometriosis which I had confirmed during my ectopic op. Never had any symptoms of it though, and refused surgery until the ectopic as I didn't see the point of its not causing issues. They think the endometriosis is what caused the ectopic. Anyone here also have endometriosis?

Hey! @Throwawy did they confirm it during your laparoscopy? I personally don’t know what caused mine…maybe endo (although none was found during lap) maybe previous bout of chlyamidia (although I’m seeing more evidence to show that doesn’t cause it). Maybe even just bad luck. Who knows. Did they remove the endo at ur ectopic surgery?

Throwawy · 07/08/2023 17:06

@Sunflower1235 I was told they suspected that's what caused the ectopic. They removed the endometriomas and at least a couple of other bits of endometriosis. My current worry is that they removed some endometriosis from the outside of my remaining tube but said the tube looked healthy, so now I'm paranoid it's blocked or that I'm going to have another ectopic. The surgeon said I can come back for a hycosy, but I feel poked and prodded enough for now. I should have a follow appt in sept/Oct so I might request it then.

@Throwawy i heard that the outside of the tube strongly correlates with the inside. So if I’m the lap it looked good from the outside you’re probably fine! I did a hycosy the month after my ectopic and it was thankfully fine, also no worse than a smear test. I was dreading it but it’s so minor it’s good piece of mind xxx

Throwawy · 07/08/2023 21:28

@Sunflower1235 that's what I heard which is what's worrying me... if they removed endometriosis from the outside then it's likely it's on the inside too, even if they did say it's healthy.
I honestly want to give it some more time before going into more tests, but I think I'll request one at my follow-up appt.

Sunflower1235 · 08/08/2023 07:12

@Throwawy oh no I meant more like if they’ve looked at the tube after removing the endo and it looks healthy then that’s probably the most likely outcome! I know it’s super tough but there’s always other options too. I’m starting to consider freezing embryos as a back up just in case

Throwawy · 08/08/2023 07:24

@Sunflower1235 that's a good idea.

We've already decided we'll give it 6 months then start enquiring about IVF.

Sunflower1235 · 08/08/2023 07:29

@Throwawy having a plan always makes it easier!! And I just think to myself Ivf was designed for women with no tubes initially so there are always options which is good!

I had 10 hour life-saving surgery from ruptured ectopic, and a stay in ICU. I was left with one tube and a long recovery. I had four children afterwards, the first was a year after. I hope this gives hope.
