Thread no 2 as thread 1 was so close to getting full!

As a reminder this is a positive support thread for anyone preparing and planning to start TTC in 2023 💖

If you join start by introducing yourself with your age. what no. you're trying for and when you plan on starting plus any goals you might have before then! for example:

@DanisEndo
Age 27
TTC No.1
Starting Sep 23
I want to:

  • loose some weight (would like to get down to a healthy BMI by exercising and doing all home cooking, nothing to major or restrictive)
  • do some decorating around the house
  • get married (1st September woooo!)
  • change job / company
I have endometriosis and PCOS, 2 surgeries down and hoping I'll still be all clear by the time we get to trying.

Theres a long list of us now so bare with me updating it as we go 😅

Good luck everyone!!!

Amazing seeing all the BFPs on this thread!

In anticipation of my April TTC commencement I'm using CB OBK to make sure BF isn't impacting my ovulation. Today I got my flashing smily face so fingers crossed in the coming few days I get my static then our TTC journey can continue! It's so exciting to think that this time next year I could have my DC2 in my arms 🥰

LightBlueJeans · 25/02/2023 10:45

Hello everyone,

I am new here (created a Mumsnet account this morning!).

Age: 28
TTC: Planning to start TTC in July 2023.

I stopped taking the POP about 6 months ago and have been tracking cycles since then using BBT tracking and a fertility app. I have ovulated each cycle since I stopped the POP but my leutal phase is a bit on the short side (11 days). I take a daily Wellwoman multivitamin which includes folic acid at the recommended amount.

Goals:

  • Backpacking holiday with DH in SE Asia (so can't start TTC until July due to the NHS Zika risk advice). I guess this might be our last trip where we can do something like that for a while!
  • Kitchen extension and renovation as I'm sure it will be much less stressful if it can get done before there is a little one. I have dreams of spending mat leave in a beautiful and serene open plan kitchen (LOL... I realise it will not be like that).
  • Spend good quality time with DH and friends while I have the freedom to do so and evenings are our own to go where we please.
  • Budgeting as unfortunately my workplace only offers statutory maternity pay.

I am quite excited and apprehensive about the whole process. I just have no idea how long it will take to get a BFP (if at all!) and what challenges there might be along the way.

Look forward to following your journeys and sending baby dust to us all xx

Agh girls got my flashing smiley today and only came off the pill 21st feb last day of taking it. Freakin outttt that thats way too soon but then i could have like a billion days of flashing to come!!!

Hopefulhoney6 · 25/02/2023 13:00

@LightBlueJeans Have you managed to find up to date info on Zika? The gov website hasn’t been updated since 2019 so it’s hard to know?! I’m TTC and going to Barbados in May but I’ve researched and they don’t seem to have had cases in a while. However, I may need to go to India for work soon and it’s so hard to find out whether they have it there! I went to a different part of India for honeymoon and didn’t even get bitten. I’m 35 though and had one MC so don’t want to delay.

@Freya8 your hormones are just adjusting probably… mine are still very weird after my MMC, but I had 9 days of flashing this month! They tell you to stop testing at 9 but I just continued and got a solid smiley at 10 so it may be you’re just in for a while of testing….!!

LightBlueJeans · 25/02/2023 14:00

@Hopefulhoney6 - I was unaware of the Zika advice until I was checking which travel vaccines I would need. The travel advice for each country can be found on this website, which the NHS site sign posts to: travelhealthpro.org.uk/countries. When I went to get my travel vaccines the nurse also asked me if TTC would be on the cards any time soon and recommended waiting the three months until me and DH have returned from the trip.

I expect the risk is really small, especially if you're super careful with avoiding insect bites. We'll be in some rural areas and doing some trekking so don't want to risk anything. I'm also not in a rush TTC so don't mind waiting a few extra months.

P.s. Barbados and India sound amazing - lucky you and hope you have an amazing time!

TTCTeacher · 25/02/2023 14:09

So after posting a couple of days ago about a dodgy looking positive Easy@Home test which only showed up half an hour after the time frame, I then did another one one yesterday morning which came up a clear positive within 3 minutes! Me and my husband were absolutely delighted, but wanted to confirm with another type of test so did a Clear Blue this morning which is extremely negative 🤦🏻‍♀️
So now we’re conflicted and don’t know which one to believe… I’ve attached photos of all 3 🤦🏻‍♀️
I’m also only 10dpo today so know that it’s still early!

CinderRosie · 25/02/2023 14:38

@TTCTeacher thet BFP on the easy at home test is a definite positive. I think Clearblue are lower sensitivity especially if it wasn’t one of their early result tests. Are you able to get your hands on a FRER? (first response early result) they are high sensitivity.

TTCTeacher · 25/02/2023 14:57

@CinderRosie
I’m doubting the Easy @ Home result now because I’ve done another one and it seems totally negative this time!
I’ve ordered some FRER on Amazon but they won’t get here until Monday, so I’ll have to wait until Tuesday to use one of them… so annoying! I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what happens 🤞🏻

CinderRosie · 25/02/2023 15:25

@TTCTeacher was the next one you did also with first morning wee or whatever you used with the other positive test? If you’re only 10dpo it’s not unusual to get a mixed bag of test results spanning a few days and still end up being pregnant.
fingers crossed for you!

TTCTeacher · 25/02/2023 15:50

@CinderRosie I dipped it in the same wee that I used the Clear Blue in, so I’m not too hopeful now… this is our 4th TTC cycle, and we’ve never had so as much as a shadow before so we’re totally thrown by all this!
Just realised he’s at work and can go into a Boots on his way home, so hopefully they have some FRERs in and we can try that one tomorrow morning!
Thank you so much for your positivity and advice 🥰

Hopefulhoney6 · 25/02/2023 16:08

@LightBlueJeans yeah it’s just so hard to weigh up the risk, but if you’re in no rush it’s worth it. I’ll have to discuss with DH re: India. It’ll be for a couple of days if I do go. It’s also a huge country so hard to know where it could be!

@TTCTeacher good luck with the FRER. When I got pregnant I had a negative FRER (which are the most sensitive!) 10DPO and then a positive 12DPO so good idea to wait until free morning urine tomorrow too!

TTCTeacher · 25/02/2023 16:18

@Hopefulhoney6 that’s quite reassuring, thank you! The plan is to wait until the morning and if not I’ll probably not test again until my period is late (if that happens).

Star2023 · 25/02/2023 16:37

@Hopefulhoney6 I am about to go on my honeymoon to Thailand and originally we were going to try to start TTC, but then I learnt about Zika. As you mentioned the gov website hasn’t been updated in so long and I’ve also received a lot of conflicting advice from medical professionals, with some saying wait 3 months and some saying “oh is that still around”. I think we are going to wait the three months but may think differently if we do not get bitten on our trip.

CinderRosie · 25/02/2023 19:49

@TTCTeacher ooh good plan getting DH to collect a FRER! Good luck for the morning and pls report back 🤞🏻

TTCTeacher · 25/02/2023 20:43

@CinderRosie he managed to get them, so hopefully I’ll have good news in the morning!

TTCTeacher · 26/02/2023 09:49

@CinderRosie sadly it’s a BFN on the FRER this morning too… maybe next cycle will bring more luck 🤞🏻

CinderRosie · 26/02/2023 12:54

Ah sorry to hear that @TTCTeacher. How weird that the easy at home was positive! You’re not officially out til AF shows her face so you still never know… Think I will steer clear from those easy @ home tests!

Lizbet1991 · 26/02/2023 19:45

I thought I would pop in again. I'm 31 and TTC #1 around October 2023. I commented on the old post but as we're not TTC for a while I've been trying to take my mind off it (But not doing a good job). I had an unexpected Positive Pregnancy Test in 2021 which ended in a MMC at 11 weeks. It took a while to come to terms with the loss and we're looking forward to trying at the end of the year.

We are currently taking multivitamins and trying to get ourselves to a healthy place mentally and physically. I'm taking Magnesium and Zinc for hormone health and will be taking B6, Folic Acid and Co-q10 in the next few months.

Congratulations to all that have had Positive tests and good luck to all that are trying at the moment. 💙💚💜💛

CaffeineAndCrochet · 26/02/2023 20:51

Am about 6DPO and been spotting all day, which just became bright red. Am also cramping a little bit and have had tender boobs for last few days.

None of these symptoms are normal for me but trying not to get my hopes up.

Tophy124 · 26/02/2023 23:24

Ok those who are in the know, for my fertile days (but not peak fertility) do we DTD every day then or every other day?

Mummyme87 · 27/02/2023 06:44

@Tophy124 it doesn’t really matter, although some say you shouldn’t every day just alternate, other methods are alternate in FW and every day at peak.
when I got pregnant with DS2 we had sex everyday of FW, when I got pregnant with my ectopic we had sex once and I was fairly sure it wasn’t FW. It only takes once

TrudyProud · 27/02/2023 08:45

@Tophy124 as long as both parties are healthy incl no low/slow sperm I don't think it matters. With DD we were in the glow of honeymoon so had sex the entirety of my FW some days twice (not expecting that with DC2 as we have a 10 month old 🤣)! It only takes one go so give yourself the best chance.

If you both want/can go daily do that. If you think DH (or you) might wane/tire I'd go every other day.

fleur89 · 27/02/2023 16:00

Hello, unfortunately I recently found out I'm experiencing a MMC. I'm wondering if anyone else has been through this (or indeed a miscarriage) and could let me know how long it took to get your cycle back? 💗

DollyGx · 27/02/2023 16:20

@fleur89 oh no, I’m so sorry you’re going through this 😢 I had a MMC last year, found out at my 12 week scan that the baby had not developed. I opted for a D&C procedure as my body was not showing any signs of miscarrying naturally. Just checked back on my Flo app and my period returned after just over 5 weeks, but everyone is different, I had a friend that also had a MMC similar time as me and hers took about 8 weeks to return. Honestly my heart goes out to you, it’s tough, look after yourself and lean on others for support if you need it ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Hopefulhoney6 · 27/02/2023 16:52

Hi @fleur89 . I’m so sorry that is happening to you 💕 I had a MMC in December but I had an early scan at 7 weeks (for that reason as friends had had MMCs so knew then). I had a D&C on December 7th and then got my period 1st Jan. Most people I knows cycle has returned in 4-6 weeks.
However, I haven’t had a period since. I am pretty sure I ovulated in Jan (OPKs/BBT) and again last week, with temp rise etc. So it looks like my cycle is back but no period. If I don’t get it this month I’ll go to GP.
overall though I think 1-2 months for cycle to return and most people it goes back to normal but can take time to settle.
It’s really horrible but remember it won’t be anything you have done. X
