A ‘no testing until period is late’ thread?

after falsely getting my hopes up with an evap last cycle, I’m determined to wait until I miss my period this time and (hopefully) get a good strong BFP rather than spending days analysing squinters!

would anyone like to join me? 🤞🏻 🍀

Forgive me testers for I have sinned 🙈

Technically one of my apps says af is due today 😅 but one says tomorrow and one says Monday!

But my temp dipped slightly this morning and I felt af was imminent so I decided I'd do a test and get the disappointment out of the way....

Oh wow, first BFP of the thread! Congrats @Dreamingof3 !!

@Wouldloveanother I'm a bit shocked if I'm honest 😂

MarmaRell78 · 14/07/2022 08:11

Oh congratulations!!

Mulner88 · 14/07/2022 10:40

@Dreamingof3 a massive congrats ☺️ that's fab news.

Unfortunately AF came today, a day early so I'm out for another month. Think I'm going to approach this coming month differently as I just get too obsessed about it.

Any tips welcome 🙈

Nichelette · 14/07/2022 11:00

Congratulations!

Wouldloveanother · 14/07/2022 13:25

Ah Mulner I’m sending you both a 🍹 and 🍫
Do you mind if I ask how long you’ve been ttc? Is it baby number 1?
I’m going into cycle 2 so not long for me, but I was like a woman possessed last month and I REALLY don’t want to continue like that - and it won’t change the outcome anyway.
My plan is to use opks, follow SMEP as closely as is possible, then forget about it for 2 weeks and keep busy - if I reach CD30 with no period I will go to the shop and buy a ‘proper’ test. If period turns up then I get to buy something new make-up or product wise 🤫 as a little pick me up.
If I am tempted to test early I’ll remind myself how it would only be faint anyway, not an exciting strong BFP that I can happily confirm to DH.
post away as you need!

@Wouldloveanother sounds like a good plan to me! This was only my second cycle so you never know!

Mulner88 · 14/07/2022 13:59

@Wouldloveanother thank you ☺️ we decided to start trying May 2021, however didn't really start trying properly with OPKs until January this year as the natural laid back method wasn't working 🤣 I did get pregnant in Feb but had the MC at 7 weeks. This is my first baby we are trying for. My period came back in April but we didn't try that month and then started trying properly again May and June and here we are 🙈 I tried SMEP for the first time in June and it didn't work first time around. I think I'll go back to every other day over the fertile window instead of every day as when I did that, I did get pregnant. Are you trying for your first also?

I think I just need to be patient now. I think I'm worried about my age as I turn 34 next month and thought I would have at least one child by now. I knew it wouldn't happen straight away but didn't think it would be this hard 🙈

I had a think earlier and going to just enjoy the free life pre children and whatever happens happens. I like your thinking about treating yourself. I'm defo going to have some wine this weekend 😂

Nichelette · 14/07/2022 14:33

@Mulner88 I was 34 when we conceived DS (and still 34 just about when he was born!). It took about 12-13 months but we were lucky he stuck. I know it's hard but try not to lose faith. I was on the verge of going to the dr when I found out I was pregnant. Definitely treat yourself to something nice. Hopefully next month is your time x

Mulner88 · 14/07/2022 14:57

@Nichelette thank you. That's really reassuring! And I hope you get your BFP with your second really soon ☺️

Last time when I got pregnant I was on holiday for a week during my TWW and didn't even think twice about it until I tested the day after I got home and it was a BFP. Maybe I can convince my DH to go on a lovely holiday and time it that way also 😂

Nichelette · 14/07/2022 15:14

@Mulner88 Thank you! Sounds like a plan 😆

Wouldloveanother · 16/07/2022 22:16

how are we all doing this evening?
hope you’re all enjoying the lovely sunny weather and not thinking too much about ttc!
me, ive still not had a positive OPK yet, which I’m pleased about - I was worried I was going to ovulate too early again like last month, but I’m over the 10 day mark now so can breathe and focus on the next bit!
we dtd last night, I used the fertilily afterwards which went ok 👍🏻 If I have any luck with it I will definitely be letting you know! Are any of you SMEP-ing?

How is everyone getting on? Anybody due to test any time soon? I did a digital yesterday and was expecting 1-2 but got 2-3! I need to stop testing I think 😅

Wouldloveanother · 17/07/2022 08:28

That’s great news, Dreaming! Means it looks like a good sticky little bean! Have you told your hubby/partner?

OP posts:
Dreamingof3 · 17/07/2022 09:52

@Wouldloveanother yes I told him friday! Think he's a bit shocked it happened on month 2 of trying 😅 we move in a couple of weeks and he got a promotion Friday too so we've definitely got our 3 good things 👍

Wouldloveanother · 18/07/2022 12:13

Wow what a great month Dreaming! Things really do come in 3s!

well CD11 here, pretty sure it’s my surge today but run out of opks! Will probably have a mooch down to the shops in a moment to get some - has anyone used Superdrug own brand?

I'll join. I'm determined not to early test this month :) Fortunately we're pretty busy in the next few weeks so that should distract me. Good luck to everyone here!

Mulner88 · 18/07/2022 16:00

@Wouldloveanother I've tried the Superdrug own brand. That was the test I used that showed my first ever faint positive!!

Welcome bird. Where are you in your cycle, are you in the 2ww now..?

CD 14 here. Haven't used ovulation strips but I might try next month if no joy. Not really sure what happened last month as I'm usually pretty regular but ended up with a 25 day cycle. Wonder if we were too late but (sorry TMI) thought got the right time because of how mucus was. Oh well.

TheBirdintheCave · 18/07/2022 18:29

@Wouldloveanother I'm CD12 so hope to O sometime in the next week or so :)

daydreamingnightowl · 18/07/2022 22:12

Please can I join! We're ttc #2 and I cannot do another month of poas from 7dpo....!

I measure bbt and haven't had ovulation confirmed yet. I'm CD19 and always ovulated on CD16 before my 1st. Have only been off the pill two cycles so not sure how things have settled yet but thinking it will be CD16 again as temp rose the day after, making me 3DPO!

Will anyone else bet testing around the 29th?

Wouldloveanother · 18/07/2022 22:33

Hi daydreaming! We’re in similar positions - both ttc number 2, both on cycle 2! I think I’m ovulating today/tomorrow (ran out of opks and new ones won’t arrive on time) so period due 3rd August. So testing day would be the 4th if it hasn’t shown up by then 🤞🏻
lets hope this thread gets lucky!

How many days is your cycle normally? I had a weird short cycle last month 🧐 with bizarrely early ovulation (CD9). Odd!
