Hi all,

There doesn't seem to be a thread for TTC whilst breastfeeding, so I thought that I'd start one. All welcome to jump aboard if that's your journey too, or offer tips and insights if you've managed to conceive whilst feeding a young one.

Hi, can I join?

I'm still BF my 15 month old, and have been TTC since my cycles returned in January. I've slowly stopped BF on demand and now only feed at bedtime and once in the night if she wakes up, so I'm hoping that helps!

It looks like a lot of you are having the same short LP issue that I seem to be having (longest has been 6 days so far and I'm currently 3dpo). Hoping for longer this month.

How did you reduce your feeding? Was your little one happy with it and it happen naturally or did you have to make a few changes in order to get to that stage?

Haven’t your LP lengthened then the more cycles you have had? That’s interesting. Just waiting for a pattern to my cycle after them starting back in May.

It hasn't sadly, however I was still feeding on demand. I just started offering snacks or water when she asked for about a week and she only very rarely asks during the day now. I say all gone and she's happy with that and will have fruit or a drink instead. I was hoping that it would lengthen over time, but as it didn't I had to change the breastfeeding up a bit. I'm currently 7dpo, so I'm hoping it may have worked?!

My pattern still hasn't regulated, but it feels like it's going in the right direction now.

Ovulation has regulated slowly.. from ovulating on day 28 moving earlier to now day 18, however my LP didn't change and was 4-6 days (and the 6 day LP was really 5.5)

I had an 8 day LP when I got pregnant with my little girl though, so I know it can happen.

Have you started trying yet? Or are you waiting for your cycles to regulate first? X

Welcome @BellsB1 sounds like we are in similar boats with luteal phase. That's really positive to hear that you conceived your daughter with an 8 day LP and that you are currently 7dpo now, hopefully you'll get your BFP soon 🤞

@Clairey332 did stopping maca help you at all? I still ovulated late at cd 23, currently 2dpo. If we aren't successful this week I'm not sure what can be done about ovulating so late in my cycle.

@BellsB1 hoping you either got a BFP or your luteal phase increased this month 🤞

Aahhh I see @BellsB1 yes, I think that’s the tactic I am going to have to use. I think she a little too young yet so I am still currently feeding on demand. Was hoping she would have weaned herself or at least be slowing down by now but no! 🙄🤭 I am on CD 22 and yet to ovulate. I am getting EWCM so here is hoping! Hopefully yours will regulate more now you have reduced your BF!

@ZoomiesCat dont think stopping Maca has helped no! I am on CD 22 and no ovulation yet! I was really late ovulating last month too. Think it may be imminent though as I have an increase in EWCM. Here’s hoping something will work for you soon!! Xx

Hey @ZoomiesCat @Clairey332 no BFP for me this month, but my LP did lengthen to 7 days, which was great!

My ovulation was really late when I was BF on demand, but it has moved to earlier in the month now. I haven't ovulated yet this cycle, but need to see if LP lengthens again. I am hopeful!

@Clairey332 , I was hoping she'd drop herself but no chance, it does seem to have helped though. I just need to see what happens this month to make sure it wasn't just a fluke x

Morning ladies! How are we all?

Anybody ever had similar tests as to the ones below? Half line was done yesterday and appeared within a minute. Two this morning done on same FMU and again the line appeared within a minute but nothing on the other? I know I just need to be patient and retest in a couple days but never had such confusing tests! They're just internet cheapies but same type I used when pregnant last time... 🤔

I would say that the half lines are definitely invalid, however that top one looks positive to me? Have you got a non-cheapie test to take?

I am out this month! AF started yesterday with only an 8 day LP 🥴 xx

Thank you both for replying! Still not convinced that it's really a positive. Done another strip test and it's stark white. Will be patient and wait another few days. What a rollercoaster!

Not too bad thanks! Still got a short LP but still early days yet. Haven’t started cutting down the feeds because we’ve had 3 abroad holidays since May. How are you doing love? X

@Clairey332 oh wow! That's impressive, have you been anywhere nice?

I'm good thanks, I actually just found out we're expecting again! Whatever those weird tests were last month didn't come to anything other than a horrendous period but got a positive test yesterday. Already feeling incredibly nauseous and dizzy which didn't start nearly as early in my last pregnancy 😬
Really hope you don't have to drop feeds if you don't want to and you get your BFP soon. X

Oh wow! That’s amazing! Congratulations! How are you feeling? Exciting!

Thats a weird one is it! Wonder why that happened. Do you think it was one of those phantom or blighted ovum pregnancies!!?

We went to Majorca. It was lovely. Got back in time to dtd in time for ovulation, which happened in the middle of the night! Very painful.

Hi @Clairey332 sunny holiday sounds so good right now! Glad you had a good time. Fingers crossed this is your month! Maybe all the holiday relaxing will help?!

No idea what happened last month, bit of a rollercoaster but glad this month had a more definite result. That and all the nausea and fatigue makes me think I'm definitely growing something! Weirdly more anxious this time round than I was with my 1st, guess I know what there is to lose now. Can't wait for the first scan to be here and hopefully put my mind at ease x

Aawwwww lovely @Elfy11 I would definitely recommend an early scan to put your mind at ease. I had early scans with all mine. I would try and wait until you are around 9 weeks pregnant though if you can xx

@Clairey332 thank you! Need to convince my other half that it's a good idea to go for one, he's so relaxed about it all! But I'm sure he'll come round 😂
