hi ya pinkali37 i got tested on day 20 of my cycle and it said i was not ovulating!!!

cant believe my af is not here if i did not know that i have not ovulated then i would be so excited !!!

i hate this waiting about wish i could get stuck into cycle number 2 of clomid!!!

leis3 how many trys of clomid did you do before getting pregnant???

sorry to ask but what was your problem mine is un explained secondary fertility as i dont ovulate!!!!

Tigerschick · 24/01/2008 12:21

Sambrads - sorry that it doesn't seem to be working yet. Do you know what is going to happen now? Are you being put up a dose? Also, are you having your period induced? I have to take progesterone if I don't ovulate as I don't have periods naturally - well, I do but there is no way of knowing if or when the next one is coming. It's frustrating because the scan shows I haven't ovulated, and I'm not going to, but my specialist still makes me wait until CD 35 before giving me progesterone which I take for 7 days and then wait 10 days for my period making a 52 day cycle!

sambrads · 25/01/2008 16:29

hi ya tiger when do you get your bloods tested???

some people say day 21 is too early for me as i could be anything up to 40 days!!!!

oh im so confused!!!!!!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 26/01/2008 08:05

Sambrads,

Re your comment:-
"sorry to ask but what was your problem mine is un explained secondary fertility as i dont ovulate!!!!"

You should not be classed an unexplained at all. Hormonal problems are often the underlying reason why their is failure to ovulate - in this regard a condition called polycystic ovaries or polcystic ovarian syndrome are common culprits. Both are very common - around 1 in every 5 women have polycystic ovaries.

Another possible reason is thyroid imbalance - therefore there's no way they can say you're unexplained!. Unexplained means that they have so far failed to find out what is wrong.

In your case as well I would insist on a referral to a gynae at a subfertility unit and not take no for an answer. You may need more specialised treatment.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 26/01/2008 08:08

Tigerschick,

Think we've "spoken" before.

Hmm, not at all impressed with your specialist I have to say. I'd actually consider working with someone else. Think you're being mucked about and I'd start asking them some tough questions!. A 52 day cycle in any event is more likely than not to be an anovulatory one.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 26/01/2008 08:11

Sambrads

Day 21 is a standard test done to measure progesterone (a level of 30 or over would indicate ovulation). It can be done a day or so either side. If a cycle is around 40 days it is likely to be one in which ovulation does not occur that particular month.

Have you ever had your LH and FSH levels tested and more importantly compared?. These two levels are measured on or around day 2. If LH is higher than FSH there is likely to be a hormonal problem present like PCO. You should also have an internal ultrasound scan done to see if your ovaries are polycystic.

sambrads · 26/01/2008 10:01

hi ya attilathemeerkat!!!!

i have an under active thyroid which i think has cause an upset to me ovulating!!!!

the doctor says that it is nothing to do with not ovulating as many people with thyroid problems have had babies without clomid or any help!!!!

if i have a long cycle does that mean that i cant have kids???????

oh i am so fed up wish i had the money to go private and see whats happening!!!!!!!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 26/01/2008 16:58

Think your GP is somewhat ignorant; this needs to be monitored a lot more closely. Are you taking thyroxine?.

If you have a long cycle its not an absolute barrier to conception but you're certainly more likely to need specialist help. I'd ask your GP to refer you.

Not sure if you've heard of them but this website may give you some more information re thyroid problems:-

Fingersxd · 21/02/2008 21:47

Hello All

I am brand nw to th site, brand new to clomid, swallowed my first tablet today

I am seeing so many abbreviations which are mind boggling but I am sure I will figure it out.

Could someone please explain a implantation bleed? I hope I have that right.

Thanks for the help!!

Michelle

angela79 · 25/02/2008 23:40

Hi Michelle - my first time on site too. Know what ya mean with all abbreviations!! Just figure what ttc means . Ive tried 4 months of clomid and nothing yet, but still hopeful. Tryng IVF in next couple of months. Got our first official meeting tommorrow n its exciting. Hopefully wont need it tho. Although I have not had one, I believe an implantation bleed is a small bleed when the fertilised egg attaches itself to the wall of the womb. Lets hope we get one of those soon!! Good luck girlie xx

Pinkali37 · 26/02/2008 09:59

Hi All, Long time no speak!!

I've been obsessed about the implantation bleed because I thought it would be the first sign of pregnancy, alas not as it diesn't happen to everyone. My sister is pregnant and when she went for an early scan (she thought she was further on than she was) the sonographer showed her the blood and told her not to worry because it would likely come out.

I've just had my day 21 blood test AGAIN however much to the doctors disgust i've also booked in for a day 23 and 27 lol... If this month doesn't work, i should hopefully be going up to 100mg for my 4th month. It just feels never ending... the desire for a baby is so selfishly controlling.... It just has to happen ..

xx

Yeh, I can't believe ive just found this site. It's so good knowing other people are going through the same as you. Fortunately, the clomid is making me ovulate better than I was. As folks keep saying - it's just one of these things and I'm sure it will happen eventually.!!

Pinkali37 · 26/02/2008 11:34

If one more person says it will happen and to relax I think I may throttle them !! Easy for them to say, little do they know that every morning the filofax comes out as some how counting the days makes it feel better. We know exact dates of cycles, we have to time blood test, some of us have to pop clomid to make us near normal with ovulation (although apparently not for me), and we pick up on every possible sympton or side effect our bodies throw at us and analyse it. We poke our boobs to see if they are tender, some people test their cervix whilst others stick themometers in their mouths every morning and they say RELAX.. what a laugh!!!

Wow, feel so much better now!!

angela79 · 27/02/2008 11:06

Ha Ha Pinkali37 - 'Try not to think about it' is another. Anyhoo..Can anyone help, i'm confused when you should actually be having sex when we are ovulating. Every day, or every 2 day. How many days before - I've heard about 5??? And is there any point having sex after you know you have ovulated, like the day after??? MMMMM. Does anyone else get really sore big nipples when thay are ovulating? I do n its kinda good cause with my unpredictable cycle length at least I kinda know when I'm gonna get my period, even on clomid!!

Pinkali37 · 27/02/2008 17:02

Right, mine may be slightly different cos my DH had a vasectomy reversal but my consultant said (and this is based on a stereotypical 28 day cycle) but to abstain from day 10 to the eve of day 12 then to start. Yes there is a point to doing it the day after ovulation because the egg takes a day or so to come down so it is still there. Can't remember exactly but apparently it is easier to get pregnant before ovulation than after. Sperm hangs around longer than the egg.

I don't think I even know when I ovulate. I don't seem to get any differnce in discharge etc.. but do sometimes get a sharp pain in ovaries.

I'm off for my day 23 blood test tomoroow morning so will look forward to receiving all my results.

Just to take your mind off things my day today has been awful.

  1. Woken my horrendous earthquake as live not too far away from Market Rasen. Husband thought King Kong had broken into house.
  1. My neighbours dog has bitten me twice. First one is a really nasty deep bite and has taken quite a few layers of skin off.
  1. Scraped my car on my wall into my drive way.
Pinkali37 · 01/03/2008 14:32

Have just had results from day 21 prog test and it was 67, yippee.... I ovulated !!! xx

sambrads · 02/03/2008 10:57

hi ya pinki thought i would pop in to see how you are

that is fantasic news that you ovulated i have my rms legs fingers crossed for you please keep me informed in what your result is

Pinkali37 · 03/03/2008 08:26

Hi Sambrads,

Hope your bean is behaving!! How are you feeling?

Well, i'm on day 27 today. Don't feel anything yet but still not holding out that a test would be positive. I've decided that with the clomid, the months that i suffered really bad hot flushes they seem to be the months that it worked so they are a good sign. On 1st month AF started day 33 then 2nd month day 39 but P level was 1.0, this month P level 67 so not sure how long to wait until testing. I also had a day 23 Progesterone level blood test so will get results of that shortly. Feel like I shouldn't get my hopes up.

When you found out and got a positive result, what day were you on? Were you late?

xx

sambrads · 03/03/2008 08:36

my cycles were 32 days long .
my case is a bit strange as i went and got my bloods done on day 20 as day day 21 was a saturday .
the doc phoned me then to say i had not ovulated so i thought there was no chance of it happening .
my af due date came and went and i was getting really fed up as i could not wait to start my clomid again so i thought about asking my gp to gave me something to bring my periods on .

i made an appointment with the gp for the wednesday then the sat bfore i bought a test as i knew she would make me do one just incase .

so i came home on the sat after shopping all day and done the test .
if you bought 2 clearblue digital you got a free normal clearblue test so i thought i would stock up for the next month.

i done the free test andstraight away + came up i nearly died i shouted to my husband and he was in shock then we done another 2 digital tests and straight away it came up pregnant so defo a big shock .
i thought my af was coming but it never was so hold out til your a day late then test

Pinkali37 · 03/03/2008 09:07

Oh god that must have been an amazing feeling. My only thing is, that ok so I have ovulated but it all depends on my husbands sperm... They better have been swimming weel !! I think I will leave it until day 33 so next Monday. I had a few pains the other day like sharp pain below my tummy button. Did you have implantation bleeding then?

sambrads · 03/03/2008 09:15

no i have had no bleeding at all but dont wait on bleeding as i never did with ds .

some people think they should have bleeding so show someting has happened this is not the case

Pinkali37 · 03/03/2008 09:25

Apart from taking the test would you have had any idea you were pregnant? Some people get very early symptoms and they "just know".

sambrads · 03/03/2008 10:14

because i was told i did not ovulate i never thought about it .

i do think you can start to imagine things a straight away you must be pregnant please dont doi this to yourself as its awful when you see a negitive

i seriously think you have a great chance this mnth so try and stay cool relax and dont serach for symptoms

its so easy for me to say as i was a panic freak hahahaha
