Oooh, my first big thread

May I begin by saying I wish you all the bestest of luck!

Ok, shall I attempt to update the list?

NOAM sorry that your SIL has been so insensitive she knows you are TTC aswell doesnt she? if she does then it isnt really nice to flaunt her preg in your face although she is obv happy about it IYSWIM i know that i would feel guilty telling people who were TTC that i was preg if it were me its doubly hard when it is someone who you see regularly aswell {{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}

Spink · 01/02/2008 14:49

hello everyone, i feel a bit sick and heart-in-mouth typing this, but I got my BFP this morning!

dh told me that I shouldn't have wasted money on a pg test, that my very smelly parps, nonsensical babbling and slightly swollen belly (what??! already??) gave the game away to him several days ago now, but he didn't want to say & get my hopes up!!

too scared yet to go to the due in Oct thread. Anyone mind if I stay here for a little while til it feels safe to leave? Had a mc last time, very early on.. so a weird mix of excitement, joy and terror at the moment.

my heartfelt good lucks and squeezes to everyone waiting for the elusive line..

JollyBear · 01/02/2008 14:52

Congrats spink !! Another lucky graduate. Hang around here for as long as you like

Glasto what awful luck! So sorry about AF and a broken hand. Hope it isn't too painful.

MrsEi25 · 01/02/2008 14:54

spink HUGE congrats to you xx wonderful news
xx ei xx

fruitloop79 · 01/02/2008 15:14

congratulations spink Jolly we can hold hands at the bottom of the list. Oh well, at least we haven't got far to go to leap onto the grad list . How do you cope with your long cycles? I get sooo fed up I feel like giving up . I'm only on CD40 and my last cycle was 88 days. I think I may have ov'd last week (according to not very trustworthy OPKs) so maybe I've only gotta wait another week for AF to return - that would give me 50 days cycle this time round (give or take a few days).

3 more sleeps - Am I driving you all mad now he he!

OP posts:
mibbes · 01/02/2008 15:23

spink fantastic news , please stick around and give us advice/encouragement while you are getting to the "safe to graduate" stage ! So, what were your top tips ? Did you do anything differently this month ? Any advice welcome as egg due next week so am ready to do whatever it takes
glasto what a completely pants day - poor you
never your SIL really annoys me (and I don't even know her), what a complete cow. She knows about your CP doesn't she, and then she just blurts out that she got a BFP - why are some women so insensitive ? You can almost forgive men for being well.. men, but women you expect to have a bit more empathy
FruitLoop you are soo funny - like an excited child ! But you are not getting pressies/a treat you are getting a trans-vaginal scan !!! I know you have waited for ages though and want to get marathon cycles sorted

JollyBear · 01/02/2008 15:29

We sure can fruitloop [outstretched hand]

I've not had a cycle this long since I had a run of them starting this time last year (maybe my AF takes a winter sun holiday?), but it is sooo frustrating! I have found temping to be really useful as I get a clearer idea of what is going on. I know you have said you can't temp though .

Whatever happens with your scan it will be good because: 1) there is a bean (yay!) 2) You've ov (yay!) 3) You haven't ov BUT that means you get another go at trying to catch the egg this cycle. Fingers crossed for option 1 though!!

mibbes · 01/02/2008 15:44

FL just to add to what JB said...

  1. if no ov then they can start fixing it
  2. you can tell DH they need you to take temps for investigative purposes as per my cunning plan and you can join us temping ladies
fruitloop79 · 01/02/2008 15:46

yeah Jolly, its all good

Oh mibbes how could I forget? Dontcha know I love a bit of trans vag! ha ha ha ha. Joking aside, it's defintely going to be worth a bit of discomfort

OP posts:
fruitloop79 · 01/02/2008 15:47

oh mibbes what a plan! I like that temping idea. trouble is DP's gonna be in the same room . But being male he's unlikely to be listening to anything they say

OP posts:
fruitloop79 · 01/02/2008 15:49

In fact, I might go and buy my thermometer at the weekend! what am I looking for?

OP posts:
fruitloop79 · 01/02/2008 15:53

oooh, I forgot to say my book arrived today! "taking charge of your fertility" Quite a hefty read eh! I'm flicking through it as we speak! Check me out with my 4 in a row posts! just tell me to shut up

OP posts:
cricri · 01/02/2008 15:55

Congratulations Spink! I can understand how terrified you must be of it all going wrong, but keep thinking positive. The ladies on the knicker-checkers anonymous thread (under pregnancy discussions) are great for reassurance until you feel confident enough to go onto the AN threads. But of course you're welcome to hang out with us too
GC sorry to hear about your accident.
NOAM Your SIL really is the most insensitive person Honestly! Especially as she knows about your CP. Men also find it hard to understand - I don't think my DH really understands how I felt/still feel after my mc.
Kate I posted on the MC Avengers thread in response to your post, but sorry again about your news
Hope everybody else is OK.

clouisewood · 01/02/2008 16:22

Congratulations Spink That is excellent news. The luck of this thread amazes me...

NOAM Your SIL sounds like a bitch...let's send her ugly baby vibes!! I was thinking that her baby will come first and then once yours comes the focus will shift to you (everyone loves a newborn and her baby will be getting boring by this point!).

Kate I was sorry to read your news. A friend of my had 5 m/c before deciding to go private. She got prescribed clomid and got pregnant with a sticky one straight away. She is due in a few weeks. I wish you so much luck!!

Day 26 today...wonder how long I can wait without testing. I don't think i'm going to get BFP this month but at least I think i've ovulated! Hi to everyone else!

glastochick · 01/02/2008 16:29

Thanks for all your kind words everyone . I'm up to my eyeballs in ibuprofen (bad, I know, but am not PG so what the heck ).

never, your SIL sounds so insensitive (((hugs))) I know I'd have difficulty biting my tongue not saying anything, and I probably would snap at my DH afterwards. I share absolutely everything with him and although he knows this means a lot to me, I've kept a lot back from him - don't want him thinking i've suddenly turned into a complete psycho

We have dinner with my SIL and PIL next weekend. SIL has a lovely 2.5 yr old DD, who I adore, but I know the inevitable question will be "when will you two start a family?" Grrrr.

07mumstheword · 01/02/2008 17:24

Kate I'm so sorry you have had MC confirmed. Well done though for making an appt with a top consultant. I've had 2 MC's and have to wait (or hopefully NOT) for a 3rd before they'll refer me. If I'm still here by June I'd be very interested to hear how it goes. Lets hope we both graduate with sticky ones by then!

Jollybear You caught me

MrsEi Oh no silly you, I do hope your glasses turn up forget about the Uni work I'm more worried about MN headaches

Glastochick Sorry TEW got you, glad you went to chill out but at breaking your hand! Take Nurofens whilst you can

NOAM You knew that was coming from SIL, sorry you have to deal with that but we will have beautiful babies soon

AND FINALLY CONGRATULATIONS SPINK What wonderful news

Hello excited Fruitloop TCOYF book is a mega read! 3 Sleeps

Hi Mibbes and anyone else I haven't mentioned.

MrsBish · 01/02/2008 17:27

I'm going to be brave and graduate.

Congrats Spink - come and join us on the Oct thread soon.

Many thanks to everyone else for keeping me informed and amused about this TTC lark! I'll be keeping an eye on this thread and hope to see lots more BFPs soon.

FL you can get a fertility thermometer from boots in a wee pack with a book for recording temps - about £12, get them beside HPTs. Good luck .

Spink · 01/02/2008 19:53

thanks for all your lovely congrats! we're not telling anyone OUT THERE yet so it is such a wonderful relief to tell you - doesn't feel real in the slightest (in spite of droppy-tired eyelids, nausea, cystitis, swelly belly, smelly bott, wee trips every 30 mins. and the big old blue line!)

cricri - thanks for the invite to the knicker thread, I might wander over there too. Though I am a knicker-avoider to be honest. Not in a not-wearing any sense, I hasten to add

mibbes - we did a lot different this month, completely by accident, though. dh had to go away for work, so we've only bd'd twice since my last period. One was 2 days ago, and the other was on day 8 of my cycle. All the other cycles, I've been guessing that we needed to get busy much later. I've not been peeing on OPKs or measuring temps or CM or anything, so I'd just been guessing when I was ovulating. And clearly getting it very wrong!! Maybe I ov'd mid cycle though and dh's boys were just particularly hardy, though?!

fruitloop79 · 01/02/2008 21:59

Evening ladies,

Well everything seems to be going well with my pregnant best friend. She told her man (I think they're back together) and he was fine. Said there's no point going mad about it. Her family aren't being very supportive though . She's very excited. Sent me loads of texts today.
One said:
" I feel so bad about it as i know you're trying and I breezily say oh I'm pregnant and I dont know how. I feel such a meany"

It's so hard cos I've just realised three of my closest friends are pregnant now.
I know all should become clear on Monday but I can't help thinking they wont find anything at all. Which means they won't know what's wrong with me.

Oh I'm just moaning. I'm flicking through this great big book (the bible ) and it seems a lot to take in but once I start temping it should all make sense

I'm actually looking forward to next cycle so I can get on with it!

mibbes · 01/02/2008 23:09

ooh spink interesting... how long are your cycles usually ?
FL I know what you mean about the book - I have found it really useful and learned loads. I was so looking forward to starting this cycle so I could start temping, it is great to feel you know what is going on

congratulations spink really pleased that your evap line turned the right colour! I'm usually a 28 or 29 day cycle so I may use your formula to TTC (with a few extra days thrown in!!)
kate I'm really sorry for you hun,I don't really know what to say. I've had two consecutive m/c's that seemed to be identical, but because I have already 'had' children I'm assuming it is coincidental. I asked the doc last year, was my m/c's any thing to do with the inflammation problems that I have had over the last year, or even the strep B that was found 16 months ago? he shrugged his shoulders! I can't afford to go private, but I will TTC just one last time. What ever you decide to do kate, I wish you happiness and success and lots of love xxx
