Ok, shall I attempt to update the list?

Oh go on then I wasn't going to be dragged into the pushchair talk because I'm on my 4th I have one in the loft, one in the wardrobe, one at Grandma's and one in the boot of my car. I really don't think DH will let me have any more so I'm trying not to look.

I think it was me who messed up the list

Oh help me girls

One of my best friends has just discovered she's pregnant.
Don't get me wrong, she doesn't sleep around but when she is with someone (rarely) she never seems to use any contraceptives. I've been with her to walk in clinic before with an STI and she's had a few preg scares. Now she's (or was) back with her DD's dad after 7 years of no contact. they split up over the weekend and now she's discovered she's pregnant!
My immediate response was excitement and she seems excited but in shock. Having spoken to my DP he reckons I'm out of order to stick by her and he says I should be mad at her as he thinks she did it on purpose!(we just had a row about it)
Does it really matter if she did or not? Shouldnt best friends support eachother? Her family are going to give her a hard enough time. her DD's dad is such a pr*ck. Left his daughter for 7 years and expects to pick up where he left .

My other problem is I'm extremely I feel like bursting into tears.
It just doesn't seem fair that people like us have to wait months/years and are in secure relationships and regular BDing and nothing to show for it.
It's just not fair

OP posts:
07mumstheword · 31/01/2008 09:19

Oh Fruitloop what a lot of emotions running riot at the moment for you.

I think if you are best friends then whether or not she "did it on purpose" should be irrelevant (although I'm sure it does makes us all a little ) if she is going to keep the baby, after all a new life is on it's way and had no choice as to how/why it was conceived.

Perhaps your friend is at least glad (or planned) for her children to have the same father no matter how dreadful a Dad he is?

I completely understand the even hearing your story makes me [cross] that us ladies have been "doing" everything so "right" and are so desperate to see a BFP.

I don't know how you resolve this with your DH, perhaps agree to disagree for now and in time I'm sure he'll be ok with it.

(((((Hugs))))

sambrads · 31/01/2008 09:44

oh fruitloop {{{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

i bet you feel awful but dont worry were all hear for you
i think you best friend is being a bit foolish and should maybe catch herself on havng un protected sex !!!
i would feel the exact same as you honey i would be so .
hopefully your friend would not have done this on purpose and she should take your feeling into consideration
i do agree with the fact that people who dont want kids get them so much easier .

my sis sat on her hen weekend telling everyone how she only had sex once and she got caught and my best friend who cant have kids was sitting there . i was so angry at her

i would take with your friend if something is annoying you or it will eat you up xoxox

tak care honey xoxoxo

Emmsy1 · 31/01/2008 09:54

fruitloop I totally agree with mtw on this.It doesn't matter if she did it on purpose or not. You must stand by her, she sounds as though she's a ittle screwed up emotionally, it's not going to be a bed of roses bringing up 2 children with out the support of 2 loving parents. I know there's alot of brilliant lone parents out there, but I wouldn't want to be in her shoes, not if the dad's a T**T. Your turn will come hun, and it will be so very special, a truly wanted baby by two loving parents. (and you will get your pram!) I know it's hard but hang on in there, I'm sure your DH will except your decision once he's had more time to think about it!xxxxxxxxx

Ah thanks you lot. Just the words I need

She's gonna phone me soon cos she needs a chat (bless her) Of course I won't tell her I'm but I really feel like shaking her by the shoulders and screaming 'WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!!............of course I wont but FFS If I was with someone and didn't wanna catch something nasty or get pg I would use some protection!!(crazily enough ) It's not like she's religious and against using contraception. Last time she had a scare I told her she'd have her own cubicle at the walk in clinic soon luckily she saw the funny side!

Oh well, what's done is done. She obviously will never learn from her mistakes so so be it. I've now gotta play the dutiful best friend and not show my and

OP posts:
fruitloop79 · 31/01/2008 13:29

by the way she's normally a very sensible and mature type of person. I suppose we all have our faults

OP posts:
MrsEi25 · 31/01/2008 13:49

hi girls
fruitloop i think is a natural reaction to finding out that someone close is preg by accident. we have all been there. i have recently had an odd conversation with my older sister about TTC etc. she hasnt been in a relationship for a few years since she split with her long term partner. she has however been having one or two 'unplanned' one night stands where she thinks she is pregnant for the remaining few weeks following. i asked her directly about it and she admitted she hadnt been using contraceptives in an attempt to fall preg she hadnt even thought of the possiblity of STIs etc because she felt so desperate for a baby of her own i felt really bad for her but made her get a health screen which thankfully came out all clear i think sometimes it is as simple as the desperation for a child and not necessarily the lack of thought IYSWIM
FWIW you sound like a wonderful friend to be so supportive esp when you are really emotional about it. i wish my friends were so supportive of me and my decisions
how is everyone else??
MTW emmsy NOAM and sam my back support came today from ebay and it is doin me the world of good so im in a happy mood today- cant you tell

Hi guys - congrats to all of you new BFP ers and continued good luck to all of the TTC ers! I had taken my name off the list a few days ago (although I think the 'announcement' was entirely missed in the excitement of BFPs - so it should too!) To summarise - my af arrived on Monday night and for various reasons I've decided to leave things as they are - I have 3 fab lo's and I am vastly grateful for them. Thanks for all your support - lots of love, Cluckyxxx
