Oooh, my first big thread

May I begin by saying I wish you all the bestest of luck!

Ok, shall I attempt to update the list?

OP posts:

Sydney
You never know!! Maybe you'll have BFP before henweekend? Fingers crossed!

mibbes · 20/01/2008 19:54

SydneyB could the spotting be implantation ?.. Do you know when you ov'd ? I think you can have imp spotting from between 8-10 days post-ov...
LobsterLass lots of the graduates lately have reported 'no symptoms' so you never know ! I have been guilty of boob-prodding in the past too !!

cricri · 20/01/2008 21:00

NOAM So sorry to hear you're news. Hope you're doing as well as possible tonight.
Colabottle Fingers crossed for you.
Lobsterlass Know what you mean about the boob-prodding! I'm also symptom-spotting like crazy at the moment but trying not to become too obsessed (and failing spectacularly!) AF due anytime from tomorrow up until next Sunday going on recent cycles so a few more days of wondering for me. When are you testing? I'm determined not to test until next Monday - I'd rather keep hoping for as long as possible IYSWIM.
Hope everybody else is OK this evening.

SydneyB · 20/01/2008 21:04

Mibbes - perhaps but find it easier not to hope and just assume its AF. Clouise - not sure exactly whne ov'd as have been trying to be cool and not temp or do opk tests so far. Lots of EWCM between days 10 and 14 so assume it was then. So, am anywhere between 7-10 days post ov. MUST. NOT. EXAMINE. KNICKERS. EVERY. TEN. MINUTES.

I don't think i've OV yet despite being CD14...cycle up to 35 days but averages about 31. Still managed to BD yday and 2day - anyone else having trouble finding time to BD with a toddler? Also (TMI) how do you tell the difference between EWCM and manjuice....? Have a good eve all!! X

Sandiesx · 20/01/2008 21:31

cola plenty of people suffer this and continue to have a healthy pg, try not to stress too much and good luck tomorrow.
Hi pick x I'm fine but all confused as AF turns up after 32, 28,30 days so how do I plan? I hope you're doing well and feeling positive?
DG what a star!! I adore the fact you have not once said that we just need to relax and it will happen. Bless you. Congratulations but you'll understand if I don't keep everything crossed for you. {grin}

LobstersLass · 20/01/2008 22:49

Hi cricri, AF is due here between Tuesday and Friday. So I should know by Saturday.

I should hold off testing until the Monday, but we all know that wouldn't happen don't we!!!

If she's not here on Saturday morning I shall be investing in a stick to pee on!

cluckyagain · 21/01/2008 08:03

Noam - so sorry - it's royally crap isn';t it.
Cola - fingers crossed for today - let us know how it goes.xx

Please can I ask some advice.

I know this is only going to be my second cycle but, given my age (38) and the fact I have quite bad endo, I want to start monitoring my cycle this month to see when ovulate etc.

Would you recommend tracking temperature or using OPK (I assume these are the little sticks that test your urine?)? I seem to have read good and bad things about both on this site.

Also, if you think temping is the best, can your recommend an internet site that will explain to me exactly how you do it etc? And which is the best equipment to use?

sorry for all teh questions, very new to this.
Thanks

JollyBear · 21/01/2008 09:56

Morning all,

NOAM I'm so sorry

colabottle I hope you are OK.

eleveld I've just started temping using fertility friend as my cycles are unpredictable. I bought OPKs and a basal thermometer from ebay. Temps only tell you when you have ovulated but FF gives you tips on how to tell your fertile days using CM. There is an online book that gives lots of information. OPKs don't work for everyone so you'd really need to BD'ed every other day until you were sure you'd ov. Lots of people recommend a book called Taking Charge of your Fertilty. I've not read it myself but it is meant to be very good. Good luck!

mibbes · 21/01/2008 10:19

Morning all,

HCB Jollybear - any sign of AF of BFP yet...?
EleveID I's say the same as JB - you can also buy opks (next to preg tests) and BBT thermometer in Boots (or other chemists I assume!) if you want to get cracking straight away. I have also signed up with fertlity freind and it all seems really easy to use - just plug in temps each day and it tells you when you ov'd. As JB says the temping will let you know when you have ov'd as you get a temp rise after it has happened, but it is usually too late to BD by then so to cover all bases best to use opks too as they should give a +ve a day or so prior to ov so you know to get down to business then ! I tried opks last cycle but got no +ve - gave up on CD25 - now that am on my longest cycle ever it would appear according to FF that I ov'd CD30ish so I just gave up too soon.... I'll be opking again this month as well as temping. Only advice with temping is that you take temp before you get out of bed so it is truly your basal body temperature and best to take at same time each day is possible. FF will explain more fully !

twinklingfairy · 21/01/2008 10:24

Was going to give my thoughts to you eveld but Jollybear has done it first
I am a temping fan now. I only used 2 opks last month cos I knew when I was going to ov, with the help of temping and fertility friend. And a very predictable cycle. Though I wouldn't have realised it without FF.
So would defo recommend a combination of the two. Also I have never bought the expensive opks but have done ok with ebay cheapies. Though others have not and I was really unsure of them at first. I ov at CD17 so by 14 and 15 I was doubting them severly, but know I know what is what, they work just fine for me.

HCB mibbes no AF for me yet! Anything happening with you, are you still spotting? FF thinks I may have ov at the weekend CD39 And to think I used to enjoy having long cycles as it meant less visits from AF, how foolish I was!

cricri · 21/01/2008 11:21

never so sorry to hear your news , I hope you're taking some time to look after yourself this week.

colabottle it's quite common to get an implantation bleed. I had crippling implantation cramps, and then no symptoms whatsoever. I hope your EPU visit today goes well.

sandies thanks hon!

fruitloop79 · 21/01/2008 13:38

Afternoon ladies
Just popping in to see who's around. How's everyone doing? anymore BFP's? Who's testing next?

I'm confusing fertility friend which is confusing me now I basically put in what's going on with my bod everyday. I've been putting in when I've got EWCM (or what I think is EWCM). Trouble is I seem to always get it the day after we BD. I'm quite obviously mistaking DP's little boys for EWCM. But, it looks very much like what I imagine EWCM to look like so I don't know whether I'm coming or going now .
Also I've been putting in my cervix position etc.. I just keep putting in 'medium' everyday for position, opening and height cos it doesn't seem to ever change!

I know this is only my first cycle of really paying attention to everything but there doesn't seem much point when FF keeps sying I'm OVing when I'm quite obviously not (according to OPKs).

I've decided it only works if you have a normal healthy cycle. I think I'll give it till end of cycle. We're just trying to BD every other day.

Does anyone else have trouble with deciding what to put into FF?

OP posts:
ClairePO · 21/01/2008 13:44

Fruitloop I would avoid noting your type of CM until the afternoon if you bd'd the night before. They say that you can tell the difference between spermies and EWCM as spermies aren't stretchy but I think, having throughly examined my OH's offerings, they're talking bollocks.

I have no knowledge of my cervical position as for me that is a step too far. I am still in therapy after seeing a HUGE COLOUR PHOTO of one in that 'taking charge of your fertility' book.

MrsEi25 · 21/01/2008 13:50

hi fruitloop im around
i have decided to start temping next month if it doesnt go to plan this month so i will prob be in the same boat (sort of) as you with the guessing etc!! i have read that OPKs dont work for everyone so if you are spotting EWCM then chances are your body is getting ready to Ov. i havent got the blindest clue about cervical position tho as it isnt something i have tried myself (also i would need an arm extention as my belly has gone really big over the past week or so (i have bowel problems that are being investigated)
ah well we will get the hang of it eventually...

xx ei xx

fruitloop79 · 21/01/2008 13:50

clairepo that is very funny! yes I saw that too!
I agree with you onthe spermy/EWCM thing. I think I need to start from scratch as far as FF's concerned. I've messed my calender up now.
Thanks for your reply BTW
