I know of someone who naturally conceived at 46, or maybe 47.

MrsMoastyToasty · 29/04/2022 11:36

I know someone who conceived naturally at 49, although she didn't realise she was pregnant until she felt movements because she thought she was going through the menopause. She had other children too.

My Nan had my uncles at 44 and 46, much to my mums embarrassment who had just had me at 16!

definitely possible but obviously not as likely as if you were 20.

Couldyoubesqueakyclean · 29/04/2022 11:39

I did at age 44 and my grandmother did at age 45 (and that was many many years ago).

One of the nurses told me she sees a lot of women in their mid-late 40s and it seems there can be a last spike of fertility before menopause. I was shocked; had no idea.

I know someone who had her last baby at 50.

withiceplease · 29/04/2022 11:42

Yes. Gap between coil removal and scan

Ashleys63 · 29/04/2022 11:44

Not 45, but quite a few at 43 and 44

catsmother · 29/04/2022 11:49

I conceived naturally at 44 (intentional) and 48 (not intentional) but miscarried each at around 11 weeks.

I have several family members who naturally conceived babies aged between 46 and 48, and many others in their early to mid-40s. It wasn’t their first baby though - not sure if that makes any difference.

Just wanted some positive stories as feeling a bit hopeless as I would love for it to happen..

Both my grandmothers, and one of them had two more children after that.

SabiRiver · 29/04/2022 22:06

My husbands late granny did. She said it was great having a "young" son when she was in her 80's!

Ccharlotte · 29/04/2022 22:09

Yes, I know a few who did naturally who were over 45! One lady had twins.

PlumPearPud · 29/04/2022 22:10

My granny had her last baby at 44.

Two aunties had babies at 46 & 47 respectively (for both it was their last baby after big gap, other children grown up!).

it is much less likely to happen spontaneously/with your own eggs though, and a far higher rate of miscarriage, as I’m sure you know.

LizziesTwin · 29/04/2022 22:11

Yes but had had previous children.

Phrenologistsfinger · 29/04/2022 22:12

My maternal grandma aged 46 (in 1960). Mind you I am struggling to conceive aged 37-40… but I have probably been exposed to more plastic and breathed in filthy central London air (vs rural Yorkshire).

OldWivesTale · 29/04/2022 22:12

Yes. My cousin had her first child at 49.

OldWivesTale · 29/04/2022 22:12

Naturally

Organictangerine · 29/04/2022 22:12

No, the oldest I know to conceive naturally and have a baby was 43

know quite a few around the 40 mark

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 29/04/2022 22:14

One of my great great grandmother's had my great grandfather at 40 and then went on to have three more babies, the last at 47.
One of my great grandmother's had her last at 46. Entirely different branches of the family. Plenty of other babies born in the mid 40s too.

ijustcouldntthinkofausername · 29/04/2022 22:16

Yes I do, a work colleague of mine had her first last year aged 44 😊 she thought it would never happen then said once she'd come round to accept the fact it wouldn't... there you go. Now he's 1!!

Stay positive OP and don't put too much pressure on yourself 😘 if it's going to happen it will xxx

ChanceNorman · 29/04/2022 22:18

Yes, my mum, she was 45 having my youngest sister. She didn't find out until fairly late as she thought she'd started menopause when her periods became patchy.

SylvacSaver · 29/04/2022 22:20

Lots of people saying their granny a child so in late 40s
realistically they may have been fronting for a pregnant child

thenightsky · 29/04/2022 22:20

Hasn't Sue Radford had her 22nd child at 44 or 45?

Pamfiduw · 29/04/2022 22:21

I know someone that had a surprise at 44, now has a healthy girl x
