Hello,

I've been TTC for a year and would like to know what people have done the cycle they got pregnant?

Thanks!

We were lucky and concieved first cycle so I don't know if it would have happened anyway but we were using Clearblue ovulation tests - worth a try if you haven't already. Good luck 🤞

Coastaldreamer · 11/01/2022 09:40

@MaisieRed took us 7 proper cycles to conceive DD1, the cycle we conceived was the first time I tracked ovulation using OPKs to determine my peak as I had varying cycle days and then we used the SMP method and conceive plus lubricant.

Who knows if it was any of that which helped but I think it did! Using the same methods this cycle as it's first cycle TTC #2 and hoping for the best

YEN1 · 11/01/2022 09:41

We are currently on cycle 1 of TTC and in the TWW, this week we’ve done Sperm Meets Egg Plan.

With our DD (now 12) we were TTC for 11 months, the month we got pregnant we made sure we DTD every other day.

Chanel05 · 11/01/2022 10:41

Been pregnant twice, first mmc and second was my daughter.

Both cycles took 8 months to fall pregnant.

My journey start to birth was 27 months.

CTMcG · 11/01/2022 10:43

First cycle, I was like Monica from friends, my poor DH was worn out and I took pregnacare before conception, that cycle lasted 79 days so i stopped pregnacare and i started conceive plus ovulation support, with just vit d and folic acid separately a few weeks before the end of that cycle. 2nd cycle I stopped being like Monica as I accepted a job offer so had sex ALOT less as thought well I should probably be in the job a bit before falling pregnant (but I didn’t prevent it because after a 79day cycle I couldnt bring myself to start preventing pregnancy) and Bam, im now 25 weeks pregnant x

MaisieRed · 11/01/2022 10:54

@CTMcG
Did you manage to ovulate normally with that lengh of cycle. I have cycles of 40+ days and im not sure if I am ovulating. I've tried tests before but had nothing however I have been showing signs.

I think you should speak to your GP. Or depending on your age and your financial situation I'd be tempted to go private straight away (at least for the consultations and tests they can offer - you may pay £500 for a full fertility check up and get this done almost immediately)
If you've been trying for a year with longer than average cycles and you're not reliably getting positive ovulation tests then I would seek help. Best of luck

CTMcG · 11/01/2022 10:59

@MaisieRed if i hadn’t fallen pregnant that cycle, my period would have came around day 40! Still a long cycle but nothing compared to 79 days! Its hard to know what worked for me as I know i was extremely lucky (subclinical hypothyroidism and irregular periods) to fall so quick but I will 100% be using concieve plus ovulation support again in the future! I started taking them about day 60 something of that long cycle so 100% think thats why I eventually got af on day 79! Xx

SittingOvation · 11/01/2022 11:01

We used Conceive Plus fertility lubricant for the first time the cycle that I got pregnant.

MangoLipstick · 11/01/2022 11:20

With dd, I got pregnant on the 2nd cycle.
Was taking folic acid and vit d a few months prior.
Also using the clear blue ovulating kit that flashes.
2nd dc, took 5 months to conceive, with irregular periods, not using opks. Sadly ended in a mmc recently.
Going to start ttc soon. 36 years old so don’t want to wait any longer really.

irishfarmer · 11/01/2022 11:30

I had 2 mc's last year. It took about 6 months each time, I used Flo to predict my ovulation. This time I used easy@home OPKs and got 1st month TTC after my last MC. You upload a pic to the app every day and it lets you know if you are about to ovulate, mine was out compared to Flo. But if you have been tracking ovulation with OPKs and are not get getting any positives I might speak to the GP

Glitterygreen · 11/01/2022 11:32

1st time I got a bfp (Nov 2021) - I was using OPKs to track ovulation, used PreSeed lubricant in fertile week and also inserted my menstrual cup after sex that week. Sadly this pregnancy ended in a chemical 2 days after I found out.

2nd time, bfp on NYE - Started taking Evening Primrose oil from the first day of my period until OPK went positive after recommendations on here that it helped with EWCM (I never had any visible and it really did help with that). Only had sex twice during that fertile period, actually thought we'd missed the window as DP was away the day before and day of ovulation, but then got a bfp on 31st Dec :)

So would recommend Evening Primrose Oil for sure :)

Grognonne · 11/01/2022 11:33

After three miscarriages, the month we conceived our daughter we decided to have a break from it all. Got quite drunk and had sex when we wanted (I didn’t track anything).

Glitterygreen · 11/01/2022 11:34

PS. The above was cycles 5 and 7 of TTC for me so not immediate conception, took a while.

crackofdoom · 11/01/2022 11:43

I got some Conceive Plus, and you know how effective it is?! I got pregnant without ever opening the packet- such is its power that just having it in the house was enough 😆

In all seriousness, I was “charting”- taking my temperature and checking vaginal mucus as per Taking Charge of Your Fertility (good book). I did it the old way- in biro on a photocopied paper graph- and it was highly exciting watching my temperature climb and climb rather than dropping at the end of the cycle, knowing that it probably meant pregnancy!

Oh, and because I was already 40, I’d already started having fertility investigations, and I ended up seeing my ovary on the ultrasound with a MASSIVE swollen cyst on it (did you know how big they get? No wonder ovulation pain is a thing!) As it happened, that turned out to be the cyst that popped the egg that turned into DS2, so you could nearly say I saw him before he was even conceived 😆.

(It took 9 months of trying, by the way).

Kayjay2018 · 11/01/2022 12:59

I went on holiday at the start of my cycle, 2 weeks in Devon with DH, relaxed, had a few drinks, carried on with my supplements. I fell pregnant the week after I got back from holiday. Think the relaxing did my body some good and reset me mentally after having a miscarriage 4 months earlier

Chanel05 · 11/01/2022 14:49

I realised I'd misread the question.

So on the 8th cycle, both times, I thought it just wasn't going to happen and had given up.

During my time ttc I did the following: Brazil nuts, pineapple core, ovulation tests, temping, acupuncture, fertility lubricant, legs in the air, moon cup after dtd, all different positions, coq10 tablets, evening primrose oil tablets, some vile tasting fruit juice in the first half of my cycle that I can't remember the name of, SMEP. I'm sure there were more things. Truly, none of it really works, it's just when the right time is for you.

I asked this same question the other day as I'm ttc #2 but in my experience there's no one set thing.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 11/01/2022 14:53

Got really depressed, drank a lot of martinis, cried a lot, put on 5lbs. Bingo. Pregnant. Despite having PCOS and barely ever ovulating.

Don't recommend it, but it seemed to work.

EishetChayil · 11/01/2022 15:06

Ironically, the cycle we conceived DD (seventh cycle of trying) was the one I completely stopped charging anything, because we were getting married that month and I just didn't want to think about TTC because we were so busy.

sarahc336 · 11/01/2022 16:14

For dd2 we got pregnant the cycle I finally decided to reduce my caffeine intake, I had been refusing to think it would help as surely how could coffee stop you getting pregnant but I think it did in the end xx

DoAsDreamersDo · 11/01/2022 16:33

It was the month that I didn’t stress about having sex during fertile week, and probably missed it according to my apps. It just shows that’s what I’d probably been doing wrong for months previously (or it was a coincidence).

LondonWolf · 11/01/2022 16:38

Instead of waiting till I ovulated we dtd in the days leading up to it. Also stayed lying down, legs up against wall so pelvis was tipped back. We tried to conceive for a year too and like a previous poster we’d probably been actually missing the window for months.

RuthW · 11/01/2022 16:41

Stopped trying

thebigpurpleone · 11/01/2022 16:46

Used clear blue ovulation tests and had loads of sex.

Twizbe · 11/01/2022 16:47

2.5 years TTC,

Month we did it we;

Stopped trying
Took delivery of our IVF meds ready for the next cycle
Husband went to South Africa for 2 weeks the day before I ovulated
I hosted a Eurovision party and got totally pissed on a combination of wine, beer and spirits.
