Hello,

I've been TTC for a year and would like to know what people have done the cycle they got pregnant?

Thanks!

19 months, the cycle I started using conceive plus lube it happened for us. Could be a coincidence!

Rachaelrachael · 11/01/2022 21:35

1st baby IVF (after trying for 2 years)
2nd baby, had sex once! Imagine my surprise 😂

Dryshampoofordays · 11/01/2022 21:41

I used the Natural Cycles contraceptive app to plan a pregnancy and made sure we had sex around the days it predicted ovulation. The clear blue ovulation tests never worked for me, had me panicking I wasn’t ovulating at all! I must have been though as we conceived after around 6 months of trying. Good luck x

@2022WIP probably the only thing in hindsight was my periods were not exactly regular. They varied from 28-32 days apart. When I was referred to the fertility clinic (NHS) they said they should be like clockwork.

But i was getting ovulation tests and they were all fine. Getting indicators I was ovulating and actually I wasn't releasing any eggs at all! The test is fairly straightforward- couple of blood tests at certain points in the cycle. Plus an internal ultra sound which also showed I had the polyp and POCS. Which also I didn't know, but had a few symptoms when I look back.

I would pop along to GP. Referral takes a while.

@DirtyDancing thank you so much.

Mine used to be like clockwork. I got pregnant once but since then they've been really irregular so maybe my gut feeling is right.

That's really useful, thank you!

lakejupiter · 11/01/2022 21:59

@DirtyDancing thank you for this - I have some fears this might be me. I recently had day 21 bloods and my progesterone levels were borderline (29.5) but had high testosterone and other indicators of PCOS. Been referred to an endocrinologist but carrying on with plans to TTC in the meantime 🤷🏼‍♀️

Wishing anyone TCC and struggling the best of luck. I have been there. It took 3 years for us to have our beautiful DS. I also have a beautiful DD too, my rainbow baby after a early miscarriage in between. I did get pregnant fairy quickly the second and third time. Like my body had been reset!

The only things I'll add is that I would seek advice and get the tests ASAP after a year of trying.

Also I strongly believe in good (really high quality) vitamins and a healthy BMI helped me. I had to loose 1 stone because of my POCS.

lakejupiter · 11/01/2022 22:33

Thanks so much for the info @DirtyDancing - do you mind me asking your age? I'm 36 so hopefully will only have to wait 6 months for further tests etc, though the rules are a bit hazy over gay coparents (doing home inseminations rather than DTD).

Went on a child free Holiday to New York. Had sex every morning of the holiday. It was cycle 6. Otherwise nothing different

Change123today · 11/01/2022 22:50

For my second pregnancy 16 months of checking all the right dates, temp etc
Month 16 annoyed as my MIL was staying over Christmas to new year which was over the apparent right days - we had to sleep on a sofa bed in the living room as she had our room so didn’t bother trying that month. Drank lots of alcohol (after not drinking for 6 months) and ate all the rubbish food. When she finally left got very drunk had sex once and got pregnant. I remember saying to my husband I’m not doing a pregnancy test I didn’t honestly believe it would happen as it was too late in the month cycle.
It was when I stopped trying it finally happened.

FlyOnTheWall89 · 12/01/2022 06:43

Love this thread - it's really made me giggle 💕

DirtyDancing · 12/01/2022 06:48

@lakejupiter I was 34 when we started TTC. I would have been 37 when I feel pregnant.

We did get offered a round of IVF on month 6 of clomid- the day the letter arrived I got the positive test for DS!

MaisieRed · 12/01/2022 16:50

Thanks for all the replies!
Just a quick update I took an ovulation test today and I had a high result. Hopefully peak will be in a couple days!

I've also bought all the recommended vitamins and supplements so fingers crossed 🤞

After trying a few cycles I read about vaginal mucous, that you get a little watery rush of it when you ovulate - I tuned into my body and noticed it happen, conceived that night. Three and a half years later, did exactly the same again..

BasicMadeira · 12/01/2022 17:18

I have pcos and came off the pill and my period never started. Was referred for treatment but took agnus cactus and was pregnant with 2 months (no cycles to work too) then when I was still breastfeeding my eldest and she was a year old so I was planning to stop breastfeeding soon. I took it again in an effort to kick start my period and was pregnant before the year was over.
That's always my top tip and if it does not work out nothing is lost.

grey12 · 12/01/2022 17:27

Btw, in case you're interested Wink

Apparently, every woman has a huge peak of fertility 9-10 months after giving birth 🤷🏻‍♀️ even works for some women who had to have fertility treatments for the first. Good to know

greendress789 · 12/01/2022 17:43

Had IVF Smile

drowsy · 12/01/2022 17:47

It took us a year and the month we conceived we stopped tracking anything and just had sex every day. Knackering and not all that sexy most of the time but it worked!

IsabelHerna · 23/01/2022 17:28

After a year of trying, I think you're entitled to some basic fertility tests with your gp

Riri2019 · 09/12/2022 18:18

Hey, I have been using the clear blue monitor but have been on “ high “ since day 6 and now on day 22 but no LH surge detected. I feel like I ovulated last week because of the discharge change but am I doing something wrong which is why they are not picking up the LH surge?
