Pregnacare conception - did you have period delay?

Hi has anyone taken pregnacare conception? Did it affect your period in any way? Just hoping to be reassured it will come back!

I only took them for around 3-4 weeks and stopped taking them and I’m now on cycle day 50! I’m 19 days late on my period and still getting negative BFN.

I have experienced some very light spotting about 2 weeks ago which was a very small amount like 2 dots of pale pink spotting.

Then about 5 days ago I had light brown spotting on and off for about 2 days- could this be instead of my period?

My heads all over the place with it now, just want AF to show so I know where I’m at! Has anyone experienced this before xxx

I've been taking them for 2 cycles now, conceived on the first cycle with them but unfortunately ended in a MC. Both cycles I've ovulated 3 days later than usual which will obviously delay AF. These vitamins apparently are quite known for this. I'm currently 8dpo.
Katie2021 · 21/12/2021 10:37

@Jayjane79 thanks for replying! So sorry to hear about your MC, hope your okay xx
Yes I’ve since seen people say it’s delayed their period by 3 days or so I think that’s quite normal then isn’t it , but I’m now 19 days late and still not had a period, on cycle day 51 So confused to what’s going on 🙈 I stopped taking them when my period was about 4 days late because it concerned me it might be them xxx

@Katie2021. It really did affect mine. Am so disappointed and pained. I wish I never took that drugs. Am 5days late.

I've been and checked the website. What they say (and it makes a lot of sense) is:

'Pregnacare Conception contains only moderate levels of essential vitamins and minerals without any drugs or hormones. Our comprehensive global literature searches have shown that it does not contain any nutrient that is known to cause irregularities or changes in the monthly cycle.

Hundreds of thousands of women in the UK will experience irregularities or delays with their cycle each year; out of these, the vast majority will never have used Pregnacare Conception, but of course a minority (though still a significant number) will be using it. Because of the large sample of users, for some women the timing of their problem may coincide with the start of using Pregnacare Conception.'

FWIW, I took it when TTC each of my two DC and got a BFP first cycle each time. No idea if it changed cycle length or not because I was straight off hormonal contraception each time, but logic and reason tell me that it shouldn't do anything to cycles. It's just vitamins.

I'm 33 been taking pregnacare conception for 3 weeks , I'm now 4 days late and had a negative pregnancy test I'm usually every 29 days.. never usually this late had cramps day period was due and on and off since then iv heard different story's about pregnacare I'm confused could vitamins throw off a period? Or am I pregnant but it's too early to tell???

Gaile05 · 24/10/2022 14:54

Hi any update on this? I’m experiencing the same? Has your period back already?

NSx · 24/10/2022 15:11

I’m on cycle 3 of Pregnacare and honestly can’t say it’s changed much, maybe initially delayed it by 1 day, but LP is always 14 days, it’s just that I ovulate day 15 now instead of 14

EcB91 · 10/11/2022 12:24

I'm currently experiencing this.
My cycle is usually 33 days and when I was due I experienced all that I would if i was about to get my period. Bloating cramping, back ache, etc. Actually to the point I was very uncomfortable more than normal. But now I'm 3 days late and BFN. the cramping has stopped but still feeling very bloated. Just desperate to start my period now so I know that everythings OK. Genuinely thought I'd conceived this month as had all the symptoms and then late. But test says otherwise.
Think I'll be stopping taking these tablets and find something else.

LizzeyBenett · 10/11/2022 22:25

This is very interesting mine have all but disappeared same thing I could t even describe my period as spotting as it's so light and Been taking pregnacare for months .. having all manner of tests and completely freaking out . Going to go look into this more

MK85 · 11/11/2022 00:12

I personally haven't taken them , but when i was looking for a supplement I purposely avoided the pregnacare conception as I usually do some research before I take anything and there's an abundant of reviews from women who said it messed up their regular cycles

NSx · 11/11/2022 08:29

I ovulated early this cycle 😂😂😂 usually cd15 this month between 13/14 - so have no clue

Kirankhan14 · 06/01/2023 11:29

I take pregnacare conception 2 Month I have irregular periods but I take this my period is regular 2 months but I stopped this month because I wanna pregnant... I trying 2 year for conceiving but still not... How can I do...

Enn1234 · 06/01/2023 13:27

Ive also took pregnacare this month and I think its delayed my period - still waiting for it to arrive.

All the tests Ive done are bfn so Im putting it down to pregnacare. Thanks for the high hopes pregnacare(!)

Ive stopped taking them now and just taking folic acid.

Alysskea · 06/01/2023 20:36

YES! I don’t take it anymore I graduated to normal one but it changed my periods for sure. Partner was convinced I’d lost the plot.

Elen123 · 17/02/2023 12:36

I was taking these for 4 weeks. Before this i have always been super regular 29day cycle kinda gal. Nothing else has changed for me (so definitely these tablets) and I'm coming up for a week late with negative pregnancy test :(
Really really wish I had just stuck to plain folic acid! I've got cramps but nothings happening like other contributors to this thread.

Would be interested to know how long it took people to get back into a regular for them cycle again. Also any top tips to get periods happening again post taking them that would be super!

Mushroo · 17/02/2023 12:41

I started the Tesco version and have the same problem (currently CD 37 🙄)

Think I’m going to go back to just taking Vit D and folic acid.

Elen123 · 17/02/2023 13:07

I'm sorry to hear that @Mushroo thanks for replying, i feel better for knowing someone understands - thought I was just going mad. Fingers crossed it all works out for us both soon! Xx

Mushroo · 17/02/2023 13:33

It’s so frustrating! I went to the Doctors and she was actually really sympathetic. I’m getting blood tests on Monday just in case there’s something up.

Ill report back :)

Pitstop1986 · 17/02/2023 14:33

It wasn't pregnacare, but I took proceive vitamins for women. Currently on day 41 of my cycle, which is usually 31 days. I've stopped taking all vitamins now apart from methylfolate and d3. It really has annoyed me. I stopped taking pregnancy tests about 4 days ago as I was too disappointed constantly seeing the Stark clear negative, plus we last dtd on cd21 so if I was pregnant, I'd definitely have a positive by now

Mushroo · 17/02/2023 15:27

@Pitstop1986 its so reassuring to hear from others in the same position.

Im also annoyed as I’ve spent months with perfect cycles, then the first month we TTC it goes haywire!

Willing AF to arrive now.

Elen123 · 19/02/2023 09:14

@Pitstop1986 totally understand. I've booked a drs appointment to discuss with my Dr as this doesn't feel right being so late down to vitamins. Earliest I could get is next week so really hope that there's either a positive test or my cycle re-appears before then. Will share any tips they give too! 😖😑

sl7uk · 20/02/2023 09:38

@Mushroo This is the first time I'm using Mumsnet but this thread has given me so much reassurance! Feel like I'm not losing the plot! I'm in exactly the same situation.

Started TTC this month, cycles have always been regular. First month using Pregnacare and I've lost my period completely. It's been three weeks without a period now. Went to Dr last week and she completely dismissed me. Has your AF arrived yet?!

Mushroo · 20/02/2023 10:19

@sl7uk came yesterday finally so a 37 day cycle. It’s ruined my perfectly plotted cycles in my apps!

I stopped taking the pills about a week ago so seems to take awhile to ‘reset’.

Hopefully yours arrives soon, but I completely resonate with how awful it is. I logically knew I wasn’t pregnant but I couldn’t 100% move on until AF arrived.

Im having my blood tests today so I’ll report back if there’s anything in there which might be of wider relevance.

sl7uk · 20/02/2023 11:06

@Mushroo Ahh so pleased your AF arrived! I stopped taking the tablets today so hopefully I might get mine in a week or so. Are you taking any other tablets instead, folic acid etc?

It blows my mind this could be the reason! I've been thinking maybe I'm stressing myself out too much (which could also be likely, but trying not to).

I was fine with a negative pregnancy test too, but without a period, it's difficult to know what to do next and when you can try again.

Keep us posted on the blood test results, hope the go ok today 🙏
