Pregnacare conception - did you have period delay?

Hi has anyone taken pregnacare conception? Did it affect your period in any way? Just hoping to be reassured it will come back!

I only took them for around 3-4 weeks and stopped taking them and I’m now on cycle day 50! I’m 19 days late on my period and still getting negative BFN.

I have experienced some very light spotting about 2 weeks ago which was a very small amount like 2 dots of pale pink spotting.

Then about 5 days ago I had light brown spotting on and off for about 2 days- could this be instead of my period?

My heads all over the place with it now, just want AF to show so I know where I’m at! Has anyone experienced this before xxx

Feeling a bit worried after reading this thread. Ended up here because someone on TikTok mentioned pregnacare delaying cycles. I came off the mirena coil about 18 days ago as we're TTC and was expecting AF to arrive this week. I've been taking pregnacare since I had my coil removed.

I didn't get periods on the mirena, apart from maybe some light spotting on some months, but I always had the cramps and AF symptoms like bloating around this time so was fairly sure my cycle was still intact.

Prior to going on hormonal contraception (10 years ago), I came on my period on the 1st of every month, so sort of expected that to be the case again.

Obviously the delay in my cycle might be just due to my body re-adjusting , but like others on this thread I've also had weird symptoms like nausea, dizziness, faitgue to the point where I thought I could have got pregnant straight away but have been getting BFNs on tests.

Reading everyone's messages on here, I think it must be related to the pregnacare, unless anyone else has any similar stories after coming off the coil? I think I'm going to switch to normal folic acid and vitamin D. Just want AF to arrive so I can start tracking my cycles.

Any positive support/guidance from anyone would be appreciated!

I had come off the pill after 12 years and after 2 months my cycle regularised to 29 days and like clockwork until I took pregnacare. I’m on day 50 and still no period (stopped Pregnacare a week ago). So annoyed at myself for taking it and missing out on the opportunity to try. Now my cycle is out of sync and I don’t know where I am and how to try. Not what I was expecting and really peeved off with Pregnacare! At my age every cycle is an opportunity and because of these supplements I’ve lost a cycle and still dont know when the next one is. On top of that I’ve put on weight although my diet and exercising is the same and just feel bloated and yuck waiting for this period to arrive. Pregnacare should be more informative about how cycles have been affected by their product!

Firstly, I want to say I am so grateful for all of you that have posted on this thread! I finally feel like I am not going mad.
I am 33, came off the pill in December after 15 years. AF resumed and I was having a cycle of between 29-34 days, ovulation always occurring on day 18.

I was really ill at the end of May, had a chest infection and sinisitus, I missed a period in June which didn’t surprise me as I knew stress could vibe it out.

From July I started taking Pregnacare conception, my last cycle was 47 days, ovulation not detected, in fact my CM was creamy the whole time basically no change, (I am using natural cycles and changed thermometer in this time) but I did bleed.

This current cycle is now on day 51, for weeks no change really in CM, I took LH tests on day 27 & 28 which were positive, however CM was not egg white at all. AF still hasn’t arrived.

I started reading these threads and decided last Saturday to stop taking the vitamins. I swapped and am on Boots Folic acid and vitamin D. On Thursday I had a pain, at first i thought it was AF coming but then it felt more like ovulation pain and I noticed CM that was like egg white. I took another LH test and it was showing the highest LH rating, took one again yesterday and same thing. I think I’m finally ovulating properly. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

It seems too much of a coincidence for this to happen while taking the vitamins. I will keep posted with how it goes but will never ever take those again!

Shrewdfox · 07/10/2023 07:17

@birunthini Sending you the biggest hug! Please don’t be annoyed with yourself. You were only doing what we all thought was right for helping us to conceive. It’s really really frustrating, but the best thing you have done is shared your story because it really helped me reading it.

I feel exactly the same about the weight and bloated thing. I really really hope things even out. Xxx

birunthini · 07/10/2023 11:33

Aww thank you and glad to have put your mind at ease. I still haven’t started and on day 53. Felt crampy yesterday thinking I was going to bleed but nothing, but now that I’ve read your post I’m thinking I might be ovulating so will get some romantic action planned in case haha!
Fingers crossed we all get what we deserve - a healthy pregnancy and baby xxx

Sarsar007 · 07/10/2023 23:50

Just wanted to say these vitamins also messed my cycle up, I only took for 3 weeks and period was late and when it did come it was more like spotting for 7days (usually on for 4/5 days with 1 heavy day and a couple of normal flow days, very unusual for me so decided not to take them again, so bad isn't it!

Shrewdfox · 21/10/2023 06:25

Just wanted to update. I ovulated and have now started AF at 12DPO. A little upset as I was excited that maybe I could have got pregnant. But then trying to stay positive as starting a new cycle (and on time) is the beginning trying again. I feel like after all the issues before things are getting on track.

birunthini · 24/10/2023 14:27

Same with me except it’s been 70 days and still no AF. Stopped those tablets 3 weeks ago now. Regular as clockwork before then. Bizarre thing is my CM is changing as expected during a cycle and have read other posts with people sharing the same - that ovulation is still happening although no period. Quite frustrating but partner and I are trying every 3 - 5 days just in case we get lucky as I have no idea about my cycle.

Shrewdfox · 24/10/2023 19:04

Oh lovely it is so confusing! I think you are doing the best thing and hopefully you will end up pregnant. If not fingers crossed AF starts soon and you will be able to start the new cycle following it like usual. Feels like so much waiting though. Big hugs cxxx

birunthini · 07/11/2023 08:18

Hello all,
Just to to update I finally started my period on day 80 - 79 days after my last period. I stopped taking Pregnacare on 28th Sept after 3 weeks of taking it and finally AF arrived on 3rd Nov. Finally can start planning again. I wanted to update so anyone here are also not panicking as much as I did over these 2.5 months of no periods. Take care all x

Shrewdfox · 07/11/2023 12:22

Yay great news lovely! Mine lasted 63 days, so far this new cycle seems to be going smoothly, previously cycles before Pregnacare conception I would ovulate day 18-22, I’m on day 19 and my basal temp, CM and LH all say I’m ovulating! Woooo. Think I stopped taking 24th Sep! Good luck ladies. Xxxx

LizzieeLou · 15/11/2023 17:54

ive recently went on pregnacare, and wish I had found this page before hand, I was on it for 3 weeks, then my period was late, thought perfect I’m pregnant… nope, it’s messed my cycle I was 3 weeks late in the end, so I’ve binned them when I realised so many people were having issues.
I was wondering if the people who did have issues, how long till your cycles went back to normal? As I’m late again, not pregnant and haven’t taken pregnacare since 27th September.
my cycles before were 28 days and since this they’ve been messed up.
help

247nonstopcantstop · 15/11/2023 17:57

It’s strange as this happened to me - looking at the ingredients I can’t see any reason why they would do this to cycles 🤔 it’s very weird

JanewaysBun · 15/11/2023 17:58

Yes! It made mine longer back in 2016 too. I came off it after a while (and have DC now)

LizzieeLou · 15/11/2023 18:03

Hi, how long did it take for your body to get back to a flow? As I stoped taking them end of September, had a period 2 and a bit weeks later, but haven’t had one yet, I was due a week ago.
any advice would be great please, I’ve got myself in a right mess x

birunthini · 15/11/2023 21:40

Hello :) It is frustrating and like you I found this thread after I started taking pregnacare for three weeks and my period was late, thought I was pregnant but I wasn’t. I then stopped taking pregnacare thinking my period would return but it took a total of 79 days before it arrived. So now this is the first cycle since it returned so hoping my cycle reverts back to normal. So don’t give up hope x

LizzieeLou · 15/11/2023 22:00

I think I’m so frustrated as it messed my cycle in October, I thought this one would be ok, but it looks like it’s messed this one up too, and it’s like how can something take this long to get out my system 😔 it’s so frustrating I wish I never took them, as my period were 28 days (they were light) but that’s because I only came off the pill at the end of may

Ermela · 25/11/2023 22:41

Hello all,

Today I wrote in google pregnacare period late and I took the truth response.
I am 33 and I have the same situation like you. I am very sad and frustrated as well. I bought the pregnacare conceive before two months. My period missing for 3 weeks . I thought that I was pregnant depend the pregnancy test was negative.
Now my period are messed up. I had a regular period every 28 days. I am disappointed with pregnacare vitamins. They are the worst. I don't know what will happen with my period.. :( . Please I am thankful for any advice...

Shrewdfox · 26/11/2023 08:08

@Ermela Oh lovely I’m so sorry this has happened. I just want to say since coming off my cycle has returned to its regular pattern. I’m just taking folic acid and vitamin D from boots now. I would recommend coming off it. It’s so strange how this is happening to SO many women! I’m currently in my TTW now. Let us know how you get on xxx

Outliers · 26/11/2023 08:14

Pregnacare is just a multivitamin- most of which you urinate out of your system throughout the day. Very unlikely to affect periods.

Al991 · 26/11/2023 08:21

The website swears it’s not possible but my cycle changed after taking it too! I think it did settle down eventually.

birunthini · 26/11/2023 09:49

Maybe have a read through the threads before stating an unhelpful comment.

Yes I’ve looked at the ingredients and it seems very odd but it definitely affects them although on paper it shouldn’t ? Id avoid them tbh it makes me a bit uneasy !

I've taken pregnacare and its never affected me, pregnant first try (though I don't think that's because of the vitamins). I studied biomedical science - and I'm by no means an expert - I just can't see how it's physiologically possible for a multivitamin to disrupt periods.

Even women who don't take vitamins can experience irregular cycles so it just sounds like coincidental events where people are trying to marry a causative factor.

birunthini · 26/11/2023 17:39

Being a biomedical scientist doesn’t mean you understand cycles. I’m a clinical scientist (having studied biomedical science) and if the box itself is saying it can cause changes to cycles it can’t be a coincidence or all of us here trying to find an excuse. We are all aware that some interactions can cause effects and maybe all these vitamins in one go is having an adverse effect which is also respectful to consider. Its great it didn’t have a negative effect on you and a few others but it’s also insensitive to just be blazé with your statement.
