34 and ttc

Hi all,

Thought I set up a new thread for those of us who are 34 and ttc. I'm just starting my third cycle of ttc first baby. It's much harder to live this than I expected. Lots of my friends have struggled with fertility and so I didnt expect it to happen quickly, but living it is so different to the theory, isn't it?

Anyway, I know 3 months isn't a long time to be trying and is considered normal, but I guess I just worry about my age.

And being 34 doesn't seem that far away from 35 but I dont feel right posting in the 35+ ttc groups.

So if anyone is 34 and ttc hopefully we can have a little space here to talk / vent / stay sane!

C

BTW I know some people try for years and years so I know I don't really gave anything to complain about... but I'm also worried we will be trying for that long and tbh I dont think I could do that to myself!

Congratulations to those with good news! Did you do anything different in recent months?

Nyxxie · 17/03/2022 14:42

Congratulations @Dbd310 and @CornishSeaSwim that's great news!!

I am on my 2nd cycle now, signs suggest I will be ovulating in the next couple of days. 🤞 for everyone still trying.

Thanks for the congrats! Tbh we barely tried this month. Only had sex twice because I was abroad for work. I thought we were definitely out!

At the start of Feb my other half stated taking selenium tablets. I don't know that they are meant to work that quickly lol but here we are. We were only trying for six months, in hindsight that doesn't seem long, but when you are in it and don't know how much longer you've got to go it feels like an eternity.

If I'm honest I accepted it probably wasn't going to happen a few months back (bit dramatic I know) and started thinking about a the wonderful things I could do as a child free person!

@justsayso

Congratulations *@Dbd310* thats heartening news. You can stop worrying now! I have just found this thread and wanted to add my experience (and have some likeminded people to talk to). Just turned 35 on Monday - hope I can still join in. TTC since Jan 2022 so only 3 cycles and nothing yet. I have wasted all my tests as well this month as I had had some early-pregnancy symptoms. Very tender boobs and visible montgomery tubercules (a new term I found by googling 'lumpy nipples early pregnancy sign'), but yesterday AF arrived. Very strange my last two periods have been really short and heavy, 2-3 days which is not normal for me after being on the copper coil for 3+ years my periods were quite long. But I think far too heavy for it to be implantation bleeding. I really hope I haven't waited too late to start trying, spent so much of my life trying *not to get pregnant and now when you start it feels like an impossible task. And there is so much information out there I feel like I know too much! At least OP's good news can give us all some hope.
Hi just say so! Yeah I hope it works out and we don't have to go through any more! I really wasn't keen on ivf so I'm grateful it's happened without that. I wasted loads of my tests the first three months 😭😂 then I yold myself that's stupid of me and Jan and Feb I didn't test early. I was 5 days late in Jan because of covid and the tests wrre negative. I didn't test in Feb and only tested in March because I was two days late, my boobs felt heavy, I felt mildly light headed and had outrageously bad farts 😂

I can relate to the spending so much of your life trying not to get pregnant. It took my brain ages to get my head around it all when we started trying. It's been a long considered decision and a big one for me personally as I was always in the fence. Were you on the fence? Or is this something you have always wanted?

@Graceybaby

Would love to join ladies, technically only 33 but its so nice to be surrounded by women of a similar age Smile

TTC baby no.2, I have been on the pill for the last year and finishing off my last packet then we'll be officially trying.

I had forgotten how daunting all of this was! My son took 6 months to conceive and I did struggle dealing with the disappointment every month, I can't imagine how it must feel to have been trying for a long period of time..

Hope everyones well and we can all celebrate some BFPs soon!

xx

Hi @graceybaby, of course you are very welcome to join! How old is your first?

Yes it's so daunting but (at least for me) it's faded quickly now that I am pregnant. I just hope it all goes well!

Yeah each month the disappointment isn't very nice. The selenium tablets might help. I dunno how long they take to help but my oh had only been taking them for less than a month. They stink BTW so my oh is very pleased he doesn't have to take them now lol!

My Lo will be 5 in July so it feels like it was a long time ago I was in the TTC boat! I'm excited though! I have just finished my pills so my cycle will probably be all over the place for the next couple of weeks! Determined to stay more relaxed this time and let nature do its thing (easier said then done!! haha)
