Hi all!

We were getting to the end of the previous thread, so thought it’s best to start a new one.

A quick catch up I think mainly everyone on the old thread is as 12 months + TTC.

Newbies are always welcome.

Just sharing our journeys, supporting each other when possible, and having somewhere to moan and let it all out

@apwilso that’s good that the nurse can do it. Been trying 3 years in July. Investigations started last August with GP was eventually referred to fertility clinic in January this year.

apwilso · 17/03/2022 09:14

@Lauralozzle glad the ball is rolling for you. I think I'll regret leaving it I was going to do it back in January but panicked x

Lauralozzle · 17/03/2022 09:29

@apwilso I remember making the first call, it was just after a year and I was so nervous. The doctor was very nice, but to be frank, a bit useless.

He asked me how long we’ve been trying, what my periods were like. Because they’re very regular, no spotting, last for a normal length of time he basically said I’m ovulating and they can’t do anything until the two year mark anyway so come back in two years.

He basically said I’m fine and it can take time, said he’d do bloods if I really wanted to but didn’t think I needed to go down that route yet. I trusted and believed him so didn’t bother thinking it’ll happen every month.

I wish I had taken up his offer of bloods because my bloods saga took like, 6 months. My hormones aren’t normal - everything looks ok on the outside but clearly there are hormone issues with my tests, that still haven’t been adequately addressed. I’m hoping the fertility doctor will just put me on thyroid medication after what the nurse said because ivf is likely and it will need to be lower than that. My prolactin level also scares the shit out of me because they don’t know why but it’s not high enough to be a proper, medical concern. Madness.

So, my advice would be don’t let them fob you off! I lost a year because of it!

Lauralozzle · 18/03/2022 14:18

So, just posting an update after my scan.

They didn’t really say much at all, started with external scan and then the internal scan. They spent about 20 minutes trying to locate my right ovary and ended up giving up because they couldn’t find it internally but had spotted it in the external scan.

I asked if anything was wrong and they said nothing major but that’s all. They just said they have to take time reviewing the scans and write a detailed report for the consultant.

So, I feel like something isn’t quite right. I heard them say transverse so maybe I have a tilted uterus (that would explain the horrible smears I have). Also heard the words tubal and fluid (not together) but no idea what they were referring to!

I hate the lack of communication!

Have got my appointment for consultation with consultant on 16th May now (came this morning) so I suppose I’ll find out then.

It didn’t hurt but the internal scan instrument looked like a massive dildo!!! 😂

Tinkerbell098 · 18/03/2022 14:27

@Lauralozzle I'm sorry the scan was a little confusing. I hate it when they say "nothing major, but need to review", which happened to me at the scan as well as the HSG. 16th May seems ages away just to get the result. Is there no way you could request it beforehand? When my GP ordered the scan, I was able to see the result on my NHS app a couple of days later, which gave me time to review the result and prepare questions to ask the doctor. Haha agreed about the scan probe. I think in the "Big Fat Negative" book they call it the "dildo cam".

Lauralozzle · 18/03/2022 14:47

@Tinkerbell098 I don’t think so cause it’s not been ordered by my GP or anything.

Might have to properly download the nhs app to see if it comes up!

Tinkerbell098 · 18/03/2022 15:12

@Lauralozzle worth a check. I struggled waiting a week to get my HSG results, so if I had to wait until May I'd cry. But that's just me being impatient!

apwilso · 18/03/2022 16:32

@Lauralozzle wow that's mad. I'll keep you updated on what happens. I'm hoping they don't. Read up on thyroid issues because I was curious andni think possibly I may have an inactive thyroid from the symptoms! Maybe j will get some answers!

Lauralozzle · 19/03/2022 10:09

@apwilso I Hope you get some answers. The hair pull of thyroid issues is when it’s like level 4.something and GP says it’s fine, fertility people say it’s not. I’m going to have to wait for my appointment in May to basically sort out IVF for them to prescribe me thyroxine. I might ask at the appointment if there are more thyroid blood tests I can have as well. GP won’t do them, my levels are ‘normal’.

apwilso · 19/03/2022 10:13

@Lauralozzle oh god I'm dreading this!

HopefulGlow · 19/03/2022 20:24

Hi all,

Test on Thursday didn’t go ahead, I’m heartbroken. Turned up and was told our doctors hadn’t give us the right label, the form or booklet to go into the appointment and they couldn’t do the SA. We have had to go back on the wait list…probably another 5/6 months. I’m furious and just numb.

On top of this we have solicitors, financial and his ex issues to make it extra fun. I need some time off and I’m sorry to jump ship.

Hopefully will be back soon once I’ve stopped feeling sorry for myself and can handle things again.

So sorry I’m not reading/replying to anyone. I really hope you are all well and I wish nothing but happiness and gallons of baby dust for you all.
Stay strong ✨💕✨

Lauralozzle · 20/03/2022 10:36

@HopefulGlow oh no I’m so sorry, that’s unacceptable that the GP didn’t fill in the right forms. Can you complain or anything?

I totally understand needing to take a step back, especially with everything else that’s going on. Hopefully you’ll get another appointment sooner than 5/6 months.

Wishing you all the best.

Tinkerbell098 · 20/03/2022 11:30

@HopefulGlow oh, I'm so sorry to hear this, it's really really annoying and I think you should definitely complain. I really hope you'll get an appointment in the next couple of weeks as it's not your fault that it didn't go ahead. They shouldn't put you back on the waiting list for something that wasn't your fault. Hope taking some time off will clear your head and make you feel better. Thinking of you xx

AZ1992X · 20/03/2022 14:34

@HopefulGlow I know you may not read this for a while as I completely understand you needing to take some time off. I’m really sorry you’re having such a tough time. Thinking of you.

Cannot begin to feel how heartbroken you must have been that it couldn’t go ahead! It’s not fair that you’ll have to wait so long when it was all their fault. I really hope they’ll be able to do something about it so you don’t have to wait so long.

Always here if you ever do want to talk ❤️❤️ Xx

Fra1991 · 21/03/2022 11:56

@HopefulGlow I am heartbroken for you after that wait. I can't believe they would put you back on the waiting list. You have every right to feel sorry for yourself. Be kind to yourself and sending you lots of love.

xx

LA9610 · 28/03/2022 21:20

Hi everyone.

Sorry been absolute radio silence from me but I've honestly just had nothing to say... Still not pregnant obviously 😂 OH had his SA at the start of Feb but he's still not heard anything re. results or anything. They said it would be max 3 weeks so no idea what is going on there. To be honest I don't even really think about TTC that much anymore, think I've mentally just given up - so to those that say the first month you stop trying it will happen, I can tell you it doesn't 😂😂

@HopefulGlow that's so maddening that they are going to make you go back on the waiting list for their F up. Definitely complain, that's not right at all 😫

@Tinkerbell098 sorry to hear you are now having to go through IVF but I do hope it will get you what we are all here to achieve 😊 3 months isn't too long to wait either.

Fra1991 · 29/03/2022 09:45

Hi @LA9610 and welcome back, I hope the break did you some good - sorry it didnt give you the results you wanted - I keep thinking to myself maybe if I just did this or just did that but I am getting to the point of just thinking no its bad luck and I'm allowed to feel sorry for myself and not feel like its something I'm doing. My OH SA took a good while I remember which is a bit crazy given dont they have to do the analysis like right away??
I actually do have some news - I got a cancellation at the fertility clinic so had an appointment yesterday and technically my 'treatment' starts today as its the first day of AF. So weird because it all happened so fast I was expecting it to be June! So waiting on the nurse phoning back to give me my prostap day but should technically be 3 weeks yesterday. Felt quite strange last night as its out of my hands for a couple of months and definitely not sunk in that I'm getting IVF.

How is everyone else?

x

Lauralozzle · 29/03/2022 18:13

@Fra1991 oh wow that’s fab it’s starting so soon!

@LA9610 my OH never heard back about his SA, the doctors we have are very much if you don’t hear from us it’s fine. Might be worth giving them a ring to see if the results are back yet.

Update from me: rang hospital on first day of period to book HSG. They couldn’t do it because they will only do it between cycle day 7-10 and the person that does it is off then! Have to call when this cycle is over.

Had my blood test for AMH today. Appointment with fertility clinic on 16th May. All tests need to be done by then so hopefully they can get on with the HSG in April sometime.

xoJellyBean · 29/03/2022 22:29

Hey everyone, I've been so absent from mumsnet! Don't think I posted since I started my first round of clomid, it didn't work for me so I was naturally heartbroken and had the worst period of my life! Currently 2dpo after my Dr upped my dose to 100mg and I ovulated on CD14🤞🏼🤞🏼

How is everyone doing? Will have a quick catch up through the thread 🥰

@HopefulGlow just read your update, that is completely unacceptable. I'm so heartbroken for you - definitely put in a complaint with your GP and hopefully they can do something about the waiting list. ❤️

Longbin · 29/03/2022 22:34

@HopefulGlow this happened to us 3 times unfortunately 😔 my partner kept getting referred to the wrong clinic somehow. We gave up in the end after 2 years. I would make a complaint now so that they resolve it for you, we never made a formal complaint as we kept being reassured it would be done immediately and I believe if we had we might have got the correct appointment the second time

Tinkerbell098 · 30/03/2022 15:07

@LA9610 hi again how's the puppy? thanks, yes, I'm feeling better about the decision now and I think it'll get us some answers. Could you ring up about OH's SA? Was it the GP who ordered the test?

@Fra1991 that's great you've heard back so soon. Did you have to ring up to ask for any cancellations or did they ring you? I'm still waiting for a letter from the clinic for a first appointment.

@xoJellyBean sorry the first round didn't work, but it is trial and error, so hope the increased dose will do the trick.

No update from me, just waiting for a letter to turn up from the clinic at some point, hopefully soon so I can start treatment.

Fra1991 · 04/04/2022 09:26

@xoJellyBean aw so sorry it didnt work - fingers crossed it works this round.
@Tinkerbell098 I have gone private so not sure if its different if its NHS although my clinic does do NHS appointments. But basically I was waiting and waiting to get my nurse's appointment where you go through it all and pay for the treatment and they kept messing me around. But presumably they get a few cancellations every month so they hold off booking everyone up just to see if they can fill any cancellations they get - sadly I wouldnt be surprised if they try to fill them with private clients. x

Hey ladies, hope ur all well wow there's so many on here :)

Been TTC for 4years now had a mmc almost 2years ago, oh my it's exhausting, after having children young never actually thought that TTC would be hard, I've 2 boys 1 of which I got pregnant with pretty much as my implant was being removed haha so I just assumed it would just happen. Daaang I have a whole new perspective and respect for women who struggle that I didn't truly get/or appreciate before. 🙇🏻‍♀️ 🙇🏻‍♀️

So here's my rant for you gals, after a loooong time of using IC and seeing all the lines evaps and even the lines that I just make myself believe are there for hope, this morning I took my usual IC not expecting anything just to feed the load obsession (even did an opk..🤷🏻‍♀️ why..who knows haha) and shockingly there was a Pink second line. Not dark but deffo not a faint evap!! I was shocked and excited so I grabbed my frer that Ive had a while saving to confirm...and it's negative!!! WWWWHATTT THE TWWWWIG!! 😞

Stupid Tw**ing thing
Stupid Shirty pointless...rrraaah

Top pic attached is the IC with the neg frer underneath.

Sorry ladies I just needed to get that out
Rant over 🙈

LA9610 · 25/04/2022 15:52

Hi everyone, hope you are all okay?

@Tinkerbell098 puppy is doing great thank you. It's definitely starting to get eeasier for sure and he's a really good boy so far, love him to bits.

We finally heard back from DH's SA which was normal (81mil count) and I was told next step is is HSG for me and to book it at the start of my next period.

However, my period is 2-3 days late today so I did a test this morning.... 2 tests actually and they are both positive!! Can't believe it 😮 first time I've ever seen 2 lines. They aren't that dark but neither is the control lines, I think my urine must not have been very concentrated even though it was held for 5 hours.

Didn't really expect it to be honest as we only dtd a couple of times during FW but obviously we are both delighted and praying everything works out okay.
