Anyone want to join me?

I’m fairly certain we want to ttc #2, but I need to get my blood sugars under control first - need to get my HBA1C under 50 from 68.

My diet is also pretty crap and could do with improvement.

Would be great to have some virtual buddies so we can encourage each other/share progress!

Mine are almost 6 and 3. Would be similar ages to yours by time baby comes, all being well. Does that feel like a good gap? Feels like pros and cons, having a baby when both kids in childcare more or less full time feels like a piece of piss (I know the rest of the time will be hard!), but I worry about what will it be like when they are all older, will the things we can do be limited by having the wee one. But anyway have decided to make it work so maybe this isn’t the place for the ruminating!!

Mummyme87 · 15/11/2021 22:46

I’m all about the age gap! Wanted a 4yr age gap minimum 3rd time, love the older ones being in school when having the next baby. Definitely don’t think it’s a problem

pinkpirlie · 15/11/2021 23:39

@mummyme87
I'm going to start counting calories again tomorrow, as I think that is the only way for me to hold myself to account. When I see the actual number in the app.

I made low calorie soup for today's meals Lentils, carrots and celery. It was actually really yummy.
Whoever posted that thread a few months back about not wanting to eat the same meal twice in a week would hate living with me where we eat it every meal until it's gone.
The twiglets will be my undoing though. And I got a tin of mini cheddars too. Grin Going to try to forget they are in the cupboard.

I also went to a yoga class.
I work out so much which helps stop me getting bigger, but I just sabotage myself with food.

I also need to start being more positive generally. I find I moan a lot, get mardy easily, dwell on things for too long. I feel like I'm constantly PMSing. Someone said that stress is a huge factor in how easy it is to conceive so I'm going to work on that too.

If we continue to have issues TTC this time, I need to lose the 10kg to be considered for support through NHS. My doctor said BMI under 29.4. I think it's currently about 33. Which is about 10kg from my current weight.

Why is bad food so tasty?!

Welshgal85 · 16/11/2021 08:01

Please can I join? 😊 also going to be #ttc our first in January. It’s all new to me so any tips welcomed! I’ve read some other threads and find all the jargon confusing! 😂

I’ve been trying to lose a bit of weight as my BMI is 30 at the moment. Realistically not sure how much more I will lose with Christmas coming up but will try to be good before and after!

I’ve bought some folic acid so will start taking that now and already take vitamin d daily.

Mummyme87 · 16/11/2021 18:06

@pinkpirlie urgh, I know. I’m at work and there’s chocolate biscuits on the desk, I’m hiding from them and eating carrot sticks 😂 and Christmas is coming which means large amounts of tubs of chocolate 😩

Welcome @Welshgal85 super exciting times!! Folic acid and vit d is grand. I take vit b complex also as is known to help

chaosandcuppas · 17/11/2021 09:24

@chaosandcuppas woweee! That’s a super super positive positive!! Do you have regular cycles? Congratulations 🎉

chaosandcuppas · 17/11/2021 09:50

@Mummyme87 I can't quite believe it! No I have super irregular cycles. This year I've had cycles of 78 days, 45 days, 32 days, 73 days etc. I really didn't think it would happen this quickly. I'm a bit worried about the stomach cramps but will ask the doctor today...

Welshgal85 · 17/11/2021 10:06

Thanks @Mummyme87 😊 I’ll look into the vitamin b!

Big congratulations @chaosandcuppas ! Flowers

chaosandcuppas · 17/11/2021 10:15

@Welshgal85 thank you ❤️

Heruka · 17/11/2021 11:05

Oh congratulations Chaos!!! That’s wonderful news. I think crampy feelings are very normal during the first trimester.

happydays89 · 17/11/2021 15:47

Afternoon!
Am I too late to join?!

Looking at TTC #2 soon. Have a 19month old DD. Happened really quick last time.

But feel like circumstances were very different then 😂😂

x

Mummyme87 · 17/11/2021 17:13

@chaosandcuppas I reckon you’re a good few weeks pregnant based on your lines!! Exciting!!!

Confusedandtiredmama · 18/11/2021 20:51

Hiya this is an interesting thread, I was a single mum of a beautiful girl who is now coming up 5 and a half and then in March I met someone through work 🥰 We have an age gap of 11 years and he turned 40 in June. We are waiting until we move in together, saving money for our first little family home to rent and then I believe I will be getting this implant out of my arm. He always wanted children but his ex wife didn't want them. Hoping we will be ttc soon, im really getting broody now and I've wanted at least 3 kids ever since I had my daughter

Bluets · 18/11/2021 22:55

Hello! Hoping I can join, seems like a great group. Will be TTC for baby number 1 in the imminent future. No date on it yet but my partner and I are talking about it a lot so I think it'll be soon. I've also been preparing over the past few months by taking folic acid alongside my usual multi-vitamin. I've lost some weight this year too in preparation, 15 kg. It is tough so I totally emphasise with anyone also attempting to lose a bit of weight. I really wanted to be able to exercise comfortably during pregnancy so I'm glad I did it but definitely steps forward then steps back!

Welshgal85 · 18/11/2021 23:24

Welcome @Bluets 😊 well done on losing some weight, I’ve been trying to but it just seems to not change much and just fluctuates around a certain point, maybe I’ve hit a plateau and need to change it up a bit to speed things up a bit?!

Mummyme87 · 19/11/2021 07:08

Welcome @Confusedandtiredmama
Welcome @Bluets well done on the weight loss! It’s so tough.

@Welshgal85 I’ve just done a 5 days challenge as was having the same issue, it was really good and did shake things up for me and get me down a few lbs, it’s on Facebook, they name is Alannah Robinson

Bluets · 19/11/2021 07:39

Thanks for the welcome @Welshgal85 and @Mummyme87 ☺️ and well done on completing your 5 day challenge!

They do say variety in the spice of life! So a shake up of the usual routine can be great. Even if it's just mentally to get back into a groove.

I used WW in the end. It's not revolutionary and it's not for everyone, but I think the structure helped me build a habit and be consistent which is what I'd always struggled with previously. The other big issue for me was eating the same amount as my partner because why should he get more than me 🤣

Welshgal85 · 19/11/2021 11:19

Yeah I’m the same, have been trying to have smaller portions! 😂 I went for a run this morning and going to try and mix it up and do something new on the weekend maybe.

Mummyme87 · 19/11/2021 18:04

Soooo coil came out today when I went for my smear. Receptionist had made me book a separate appt but nurse today was like, I can do it now it will be a few extra seconds.
Boom, done. Eeeeek

Mrsacemay · 19/11/2021 19:38

Congratulations @chaosandcuppas! Lovely news.

And that's exciting @Mummyme87, I had mine out a couple of weeks ago and just about to head into my first 2ww.

Mummyme87 · 20/11/2021 20:34

@Mrsacemay that’s exciting! Although equally, urgh. TWW is long!!

pinkpirlie · 20/11/2021 21:32

@chaosandcuppas congratulations on that BFP amazing news!!!

@Mummyme87 I had similar experience getting my coil out. Went to the doctor to enquire on the process and she said "can take it out now" 1 min later it was out. Never been so happy in my life, as the thing had made me miserable for 2 years and I didn't realise that was the cause.

AF is due any day now, and after that we will start TTC properly again. Been rubbish with food and vits this week. Getting back on that tomorrow.

Bluets · 20/11/2021 22:12

Well done on the run @welshgal85 😁 After quite a break I'm feeling a rising motivation to start running again too!

Congrats on the coil removals @mrsacemay and @Mummyme87 that's great news. Good luck with the TWW as well ✨🤞

I'm not having to contend with removing a coil or ending other hormonal contraception but as a result I'm now finding it a bit awkward to move from stopping trying to not get pregnant, into actively trying to get pregnant, without that definitive "I've stopped the taking the pill now" moment. We'll be trying for our first so I've not had that conversation before and classic me I'm making it awkward 😂 How to move from the theoretical (and anticipated, discussed and excited for from both parties) to 'let's actually start doing this thing' - I think I'm also a bit nervous to make it real! Has/does anyone feel this way?

pinkpirlie · 21/11/2021 08:16

@bluets
I feel the same as you.
I had my coil out 6 years ago (due to the issues it was causing me) and I haven't been on any hormonal contraception since.
Although we did start TTC last year, I seem to have gone around in circles in my head following the break in TTC due to me starting a new job. And I'm now in the "are we doing the right thing?" camp. I'm terrified in a way I wasn't last year or even earlier this year.
I'm not sure what has changed. Perhaps it is the financial implications (my new job has much lower OMP than my last place which gave 6 months full pay, new one is only 12 weeks half pay). Being the higher earner my some margin makes stopping working scary. As does worrying about the impact on my (second) career. I retrained into this field in my 30s so I'm still finding my feet like someone 10 years younger would be.

Just find a nice quiet time when you won't get interrupted to start the conversation. Perhaps lay a few foundations before you get there, subtle hints.
For us, my DP got a bit tipsy one night when we were celebrating my birthday and brought it up. Wasn't the best timing Grin
