Anyone want to join me?

I’m fairly certain we want to ttc #2, but I need to get my blood sugars under control first - need to get my HBA1C under 50 from 68.

My diet is also pretty crap and could do with improvement.

Would be great to have some virtual buddies so we can encourage each other/share progress!

Ooooh we call it GB in our house, can never resist it Grin

Can I join? Hoping to ttc after xmas. My diet is also terrible. I lost 5kgs and was doing well with healthy eating but have completely regressed. Taking folic acid but nothing else. What are we supposed to take?!

Glassofshloer · 14/10/2021 19:33

Hi @Rrrob Smile

It’s so hard to keep healthy eating up isn’t it! But every day is a new day & we are here to encourage each other 💪🏻 I’m just taking the wellwoman prenatal vitamins when I remember but I think just taking folic acid is the main thing Smile

Any room for another?

We're supposed to be starting ttc #2, some moral support would be great, starting the vitamins etc next month. I'm 35 and worried I'll be sick 24/7 like last time, but with a toddler in tow?

TuftyMarmoset · 14/10/2021 21:01

Hooray for a functional kitchen @Glassofshloer! Med veg pasta sounds lovely.

Garlic itself is very healthy at least @Chihuahuacat Grin

Today has brought home to me that I really need to manage my stress better - got a nice double whammy of an eczema flare-up and a mouth ulcer Angry I looked up tai chi classes and really need to get round to signing up.

Mrsacemay · 14/10/2021 22:10

Ah fingers crossed for an easier pregnancy this time @LatteLatteLatte ...although with my second I do remember booking an early scan because I was worried I didn't feel sick Grin

I phoned to book to have my coil removed today eek! Shortlived excitement though because there's some weird booking system I have to contend with by logging in early in the morning so I'll have to try tomorrow.

AprilMayAnne · 18/10/2021 19:58

I hope you managed to battle the booking system in the end @mrsacemay Confused My first period off the pill finally came - hoping my cycles even out between now and Christmas and dont always clock in aroynd 46 days! What have others experienced when coming off hormones?

AprilMayAnne · 18/10/2021 20:14

@chihuauacat no tips here about finances but would also love to hear what others have done. Money's been a big part of our timing as we ideally need bub to come after September to tie in with an increase in my maternity package eligibility. We've just had to replace our car and now have to split roof repairs with the other flats, so it's brought budgeting into sharp focus!!

It took me a while for my periods to come back after I had the implant removed - 2 or 3 months I think? Same with bfing although I stopped at 6 months quite abruptly.

How are we all getting on ladies? Think I’m going to do a weigh-in tonight and see if I’ve shaved off a few pounds…! Diets been good this week so far & blood sugars have been excellent, so trying not to ‘reward’ myself with something! 🥐 🍰

Apparently they can't move my appointment yet as they're updating the booking system but I should phone back in a couple of weeks 🙄 Meanwhile I am not getting any younger 😂

Ah well at least it's a bit longer to get my diet under control.

HippeePrincess · 21/10/2021 22:03

Hi all,

I'm currently waiting til March/April time, DP and my first together but I already have DC.
We're waiting on enhanced mat pay, a house move and some other bits, ideally I'll lose a further stone or so on top of the 2.5 I've lost this year. I have started on some vitamins already and plan to both take ttc specific vits starting January.
I had my implant taken out and I use the ring so I can stop whenever, I am just waiting to how things progress before decided whether to take in out in advance and use condoms so my cycle can regulate and we will be able to ttc properly right away, or, whether to just wait. It took 3 months for me to get a period when I came off the pill 10 years ago.

AprilMayAnne · 07/11/2021 21:09

Hello! Just thought I'd check in and see how everyone is doing? I feel like time is passing so slowly, I just want it to be the new year already, so we can start TTC!! I'm keen to relax and enjoy myself in the meantime (healthy eating has definitely been put on pause!), but the longings are strong. DH understands but also worries I'm getting my hopes up early when it could be a long process. And he's not wrong! My second cycle off HBC is looking to either be another long one or anovulatory, I'm CD23 with no sign of ovulation yet. I think temping/OPKing is helpful overall to learn my cycle, but it also means its always on my mind. Any tips on distracting myself while we TTW?

Mummyme87 · 07/11/2021 22:27

Can I join please?!? I have two DC, DS1 is 7 and DS2 is almost 4. I had an unplanned pregnancy in July 2020 which resulted in an ectopic and losing my right tube. I currently have a Mirena coil in situ but about to book my smear test, hoping could can be removed at the same time (not sure as didn’t have it put in at GP surgery).

I’m overweight, and would really like to lose some, have lost 1 stone since January but need to move some more junk! I end up with late onset diabetes in pregnancy and have massive babies, plus a fair amount of complications which aren’t helped by being overweight, so a good incentive, but difficult nevertheless!!

I’m quite anxious we will have issues conceiving now I only have one tube and I’ll be 35 in January. Need to start on folic acid, and I’ll get vit D going aswell

Mrsacemay · 07/11/2021 23:11

Welcome @mummyme87. Sorry to hear about your ectopic pregnancy.

Ridiculously when I got my coil put in i had to go and have a smear test the same day but a different appointment at a different clinic. Hopefully you don't have the same issue!

Well done on losing a stone that's a huge achievement. I had suspected late onset diabetes in my last pregnancy and a massive baby, so definitely need to get my sugar intake under control but it's not easy.

Mummyme87 · 08/11/2021 07:15

@Mrsacemay urgh I hope they just whip it out for me, I mean you’re in there already. If not will get it down at work, which is where I had it put in.

In my second pregnancy, well prior to it, I met an amazing bunch of women on MN in a ‘getting ready for a baby’ thread, just like this… we all have 3/4yr old babies now, and still chat allll the time on WhatsApp and have met up quite a bit also. Would be lovely to get the same 3rd time 🥰

Rebsx · 08/11/2021 12:53

Room for 1 more? 🙋🏼‍♀️

New to the forum and will be TTC next year once I've lost a few pounds. So reassuring to hear so many of you going through the same thing.

Can anyone recommend any vitamins they've started taking in preparation?

Mummyme87 · 08/11/2021 14:36

@Rebsx I’ve just purchased folic acid 400, vitamin d 10 and vitamin b complex.

HippeePrincess · 09/11/2021 20:17

Ooo hopefully the little group will grow, for some reason I don’t get this in the threads I’m on section!
I got a well woman and omega vitamin to take between now and the new year and then I’ve already got some proceive on offer ready for just before we start.
We’re no closer in the things to sort which is frustrating but I’m trying to be self compassionate about that as I’m in a new role and haven’t worked full time regularly for over 10 years and I’m knackered!

Mummyme87 · 15/11/2021 15:38

How is everyone doing in their preparation?
I’ve started my vitamins, folic acid, vit b complex and vit d. I’ve started a 5 day programme in losing weight with a few to continuing the plan on a less extreme level (it’s very clean eating and portion control). Smear test on Friday and coil removal a week Wednesday… it’s a different nurse that does family planning related stuff 🤦🏼‍♀️

Then I guess that’s it!

chaosandcuppas · 15/11/2021 15:50

Hi, please can I join?
We are planning on TTC our first child after Xmas but seeing what happens from now really, no formal tracking or anything. I have irregular cycles (I believe PCOS but need to call doctors to get diagnosis sorted) but think im in my tww currently - ive had stomach cramps though so think AF will come. I've been taking the 7 seas trying for a baby for the last month and trying to eat more vegetables and fresh food.
I just wondered if you'd be able to ask my question, those of you who have already had a baby... when you ttc the first time, when you dtd, did you do anything 'special' after? Like how long did you lie flat/legs in air or anything?

Mummyme87 · 15/11/2021 16:06

@chaosandcuppas hey, so my first was unplanned so definitely didn’t do anything special, and second time didn’t do anything special either. The month I got pregnant we dtd every morning whilst on holiday throughout fertile week and two days after

chaosandcuppas · 15/11/2021 16:15

@Mummyme87 thank you for your reply 😊 ok cool. I'm so new to this world of TTC and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed! DP and I try to dtd every other day but sometimes not possible. Although not 'trying' yet I reallllly hope this is not a long journey so have fingers crossed, as I'm sure we all do!

pinkpirlie · 15/11/2021 20:18

Hey all,
I'm 38, TTC#1 again from December.
We did start TTC towards the end of last year, didn't have any luck, then I got a new job in the summer, so had a break of a few months so that I will quality for company mat pay (I earn 50% more than OH, so will really struggle if I don't qualify).
Possibly not wise given my age, but I thought I would use the time to lose weight and have failed.
I'm about 30kg overweight (but need to lose 10kg to get BMI under 30 in the first instance).
I'm struggling to curb the sugary treats. We were doing really well up until we went away on holiday in September and I've failed to get back on the wagon.
Was supposed to be starting again today, but demolished a Xmas tin of twiglets Sad
Going to start back on the vitamins tomorrow as I also failed to keep going with them.
All in all, didn't do so well with the TTC-prep. Angry

Heruka · 15/11/2021 20:37

Hi all, I’ll join you, we’re about to start trying next month I think, was going to be this month but realised it would impact some summer plans so decided to wait a month, lose a few more pounds and exercise etc. I’m 40 and will be number 3. We have always conceived first month so need to plan quite precisely but maybe that will change now I am ancient!

Mummyme87 · 15/11/2021 20:48

@pinkpirlie I know that feeling of struggling to stay on the weight loss wagon!! It’s really tough. I demolished a back of smarties today.. like those big Christmas tubes!!!

@Heruka what’s the age of your youngest? I have a 7yr old and almost 4 yr old
