good morning all

TJ sounds like a good way of spending a day. not much you can do re pressure, I am not in the camp of let's wait to tell, people surprise you with their kindness and support, as for the others just ignore them.

coolkat fingers crossed for your mum. unfortunately one can never predict when IT is going to hit youthinking of you.

this has been a strange weekend as I have clearly been ovulating, seems odd so soon afetr mc and since the ones before where busy ttc and this time we were avoiding it despite having very strong feelings to just ditch protection and go for it iyswim, still I rather wait. all very confusing

we went to Kew gardens Carol service on Saturday which was lovely and frozen and I am now feeling as Christmassy as I am likely to feel.

Christmaspartypoppers · 17/12/2007 10:41

Hi SFXmum ooh sounds like you are all Christmassy there - I am off work yipeeeeeeeee - going to wrap prezzies, do some girly lunch and work on feeling glad to be alive

Hey Wheely good luck with the NCT-ers - you will go to heaven lady!

Fingers crossed for your Mum collkat

Hi Jules how are you? Still on a high after the scan on Friday? [fsmie]

Coolkat I hope you get good news from your mums scan. I have been there so I know what it is like to wait and pray and hope for good news. Take it easy and make sure you and your mum enjoy yourselves with treats regardless of the test results.

Pops enjoy your time off and Ronshar let us know about your shopping trip

Wheely you are a brave girl to see NCTers with new babies and bumps. I was almost in tears at the carol service last night as there were a few little babies and several 6-7 mths old ones. Our baby would have been 7 mths for this first Christmas .

On a positive note though I went to the GP to pick up my results. My FSH level was 5 which she said was good and certainly did not give her any reason for concern. She run down all sorts of other figures and I am not sure if I got it right - progesterone level at 40.7? Overall she said that I was fine and as soon as DH did his sample and the results came back she would refer us to UCH. The waiting list is about 8 weeks. ?and DH has promised me he would do his sample today! He has even stayed working at home so he can do it but he is going to have to take the bus to hospital to drop it off as there is no parking. I hope he gets there within the hour!

TJuice · 17/12/2007 12:54

good luck, gilly - hope it goes well with the buses and the sample! so 8 weeks for first consultation? not too bad.

hi jules, pops and sfxmum. i think i need a carol service to get all christmassy. i am getting there but i need the english thing to really get me in the mood. for example, i haven't yet heard that classic slade merry xmas song - for me that is the mark of Xmas!

telling my parents went quite well. my mum called me back and was really chuffed, so there you go. when you expect the worst, you get surprised. i think they got used to the idea before and were quite gutted about the miscarriage so i don't know why i was anticipating more drama. anyway, its just a relief and now I am really looking forward to going back.

feel totally spoilt today - although i missed all the xmas party gossip and intrigues, i got a nice gift from my work ( a book and private consultation with this famous danish stylist chick) and then a separate gift from the team i worked late on the alzheimer's project with - a lovely Marc Jacobs top! in its lovely marc jacobs paper bag from the brand new shop and everything! and its all loose and flowey so i can wear it while fully up the duff (the woman who chose it knows but no-one else does). makes all those hours seem totally worthwhile . . . .

ronshar - i want a rabbit myself. my friend says its the best thing ever and she uses it loads with her dp too. my mum even got one (i know, too weird huh) but she got the smaller one. while i was in there with her, i bought some heart-shaped black sequin nipple tassles because i found the ttc-sex was getting too boring

and they are 10 pounds as opposed to Agent Provocateur's which are 35

www.agentprovocateur.com/pasties/index.html/range/pasties/style/heart/colour/red/

Get some!!!! but most importantly have a fab day in Brighton.

DUSTIN · 17/12/2007 15:32

Not been around much but I do have a quick lurk now and then to see how everyone is doing.

Justjules I am reaaly pleased your scan went ok. I am keeping everything crossed for you.

Tjuice Parents can surprise you! I am glad they were pleased for you.

I am just hoping that 2008 is a better year for me. Today has been horrible! I had to have my 14yr old dog put to sleep. She has always been there when I was getting over the mc's and now she has gone it just brings everything back. 2008 has got to be a better year.

TJuice · 17/12/2007 15:47

dustin - i am so sorry. its just the most heartbreaking situation - i had to do the same thing with my 14 year old cat and i still well up when i think about what a character she was and how much a part of the family she was too. really feel for you right now. big hugs xxx

KashaSarrasin · 17/12/2007 20:25

Evening everyone!

Dustin so sorry to hear about your dog

ronshar hope you had a lovely shopping trip! I've never been brave enough to go into Ann Summers either .

coolkat I hope your mum's scan goes OK. It must be really worrying for both of you.

I haven't posted since my evening out last week - it was so nice, and a good reminder of why I actually married DH . I hope we don't have to wait 2.5 years for another night out though!

And I have some good news - despite the complete crapness of my GP who said he didn't think the hospital would see me with "only" 2 m/cs and in any case it would be months, I got a letter from them on Saturday to say to ring the appointment line. Rang this morning and I have an appointment (wait for it) THIS THURSDAY!!!!! I hope they'll at least do some blood tests to rule out any PCOS/thyroid related problems, have to wait and see. The only downside is that I have to go to the same ward where they run the EPU and where my mc's were diagnosed and where I had my ERPC last month, so it will bring back some bad memories.

Have to go now to persuade DS it's time to sleep!

kate2179 · 17/12/2007 21:47

Kasha that's great news! Seems like it's SUCH a lottery what treatment you get, how long you have to wait etc etc... Really hope it goes well for you.
I had my blood test results on Friday, apparently everything pretty normal. I didn't ask about PCOS, do you know what tests that shows up on? Or would it have showed on my scans?
I have 2 other questions ladies, if you can help.

  1. My GP told me the odds of it happening next time are 1 in 16 - 1 in 4 the first time then 4x4 so 1 in 16 the 2nd time, but I'm sure I'd read that the odds of having 2 in a row were WAY smaller than that... Any ideas???? I know statistics are generally a load of bollocks and can be pretty much made to show whatever you want them to, but I can't help taking comfort from ones that sound positive, iyswim....
  2. Am currently on CD8 and have a terrible cold. Cycle before mmc was always about 34 days but 1st af following erpc was 27 days after bleeding stopped. Really want to start ttc-ing again asap which I think means later this week. Been taking ibuprofen & paracetamol for cold. Am worried whether the drugs or the cold could affect the quality of the egg I release (assuming I do)... What do you reckon?
Is the theory that it's best to be bd-ing every other day from day 11 for a 28 day cycle? DH will think christmas has come early! Sorry for the long post, really need some advice, going a bit crazy (crazier) Been away for the weekend and all of this has just been going round and round in my head - can you tell?!? Hello to everyone {{{waves}}} hope you're having a peaceful evening.
TJuice · 17/12/2007 22:11

hey kate.

i don't think the egg quality is affected by that kind of thing. according to dp, egg quality is pre-determined (but they do get old and deteriorate).

i was on some serious cold medication when i conceived. i don't even think being run-down will affect implantation (just thinking of all the women with low immune systems around the globe who conceive).

anyway, good luck with the bd-ing. i also did it every other day, although my gynae told me to do the stick thing. we thought it was more fun that way . . . well, initially at least

kasha -good luck for thursday. hope its not too horrible being back in the same area. i had the same thing a couple of times (and in fact tomorrow i have a scan there) but i thought it was kind of part of the process in a way.

sfxmum · 18/12/2007 09:31

good morning all

Dustin so sorry about your dog

Kasha it is wonderful news, sometimes it works I hope you get some progress soon.

Kate as for PCOS blood test and scan are the norm.
I guess you were talking about miscarriage odds, sorry am not very clear. but if you are to the best of my knowledge every pregnancy has a 1 in 4 change, having one mc does not make it more likely to have another one but neither does it lower the odds.

all ok here, quite cold and busy, hope you are all well. not long this this year is over and done with on to better things I say

DUSTIN · 18/12/2007 11:17

TJuice Kasha sfxmum Thank you for the condolences. TJuice they are very much part of the family. It was sad having to clear away all her stuff last night. I work in the animal rescue sector so I keep being asked if I will have another dog-don't think I could handle it at the moment.

Kasha Good news and good luck for Thursday.

Thanks Jules It's really sad when they get old, you just want them to go on forever. It's nice there are animal lovers on here- I thought people were going to think I was crazy getting so upset over my little dog.

Oh well better go back to work otherwise they will have me stuffed and put on wheels!

splishsplosh · 18/12/2007 14:40

sorry about your dog, Dustin
We just have my mum's old, mad dog who must be about 16 now, and she's v independent and her main interest in us is as a food source, but I used to have 2 border collies who were the sweetest soppiest dogs ever, and I still miss them now. 1 died 3 years ago, the other 1 year ago, so I know how sad you must feel {{{hugs}}}

Coolkat, hope your mum's results are good news.

I'm so disorganised, only now got round to checking internet supermarket shopping delivery, and all seems booked up til after Christmas, so now face dragging dd to the shops each day to load up the buggy, as have no car. Oh well, maybe it'll help me have a slimming Christmas as won't be able to carry too many treats

Hope everyone else is well, and wrapped up warmly. At least the freexing weather feels Christmassy.

Ronshar, Me and dd went to Brighton too yesterday. I went to see my sister and niece, which was nice, but sooooo cold.

Kasha - great news about appointment, I hope it goes well

aquababe · 18/12/2007 15:32

been v busy lately but spent today hibernating.

jules glad to see things are ok
*lissie congrats on appointment
coolkat hope your mums brain scan went ok fingers crossed for thursday
dustin sorry about your dog

i'm dead jealous of all those christmas parties. best I'll get is the bd party we just had for dd(2)
hubby's got 3 but we've noone to babysit.
still bloomin well bleeding granted it's just a very small amount but I just wish it would stop.
I too have had my bf tell me she's pregnant but I didn't mind as she's had a mc
also another really good friend who's had trouble conceiving and then suffered a late stillbirth so I can manage to be happy for them.

but get peed off when people seem to 'fall pregnant.

cricri · 18/12/2007 19:18

Hello everybody,
I'm back after a weekend in Scotland for my sister's wedding. What a fantastic time! I got quite emotional - my baby sister getting married!
It took me a while to catch up on all the posts...
Jules So pleased everything is OK with miniJules and hope your dog is OK.
Kasha Great news about the appointment - hope everything goes OK.
Dustin So sorry to hear about your dog Non-animal lovers find it difficult to understand how upsetting it is to lose a pet but they're part of the family aren't they?
SK How are you doing?
And Lcy? Hope you're both OK.
Well, CD32 for me and no sign of AF yet. Sore (.)(.) and strange cramping sensations as though she's about to make an appearance so I'm not getting my hopes up.
Hope everybody else is OK this evening.

TJuice · 18/12/2007 19:27

yes - lcy - how are you doing?

Verso · 18/12/2007 20:22

Hello everyone. Have been v the past day or so. I think it hit me afresh and I haven't yet heard from the hospital about my consultant appointment. Ok so it's only two weeks but I'm 37 and not getting any younger. Someone said about eggs deteriorating after 35 and that's exactly what's been worrying me.

Actually not sure if it's my messed-up hormones but feeling very very anxious and weepy today . It's most peculiar and not very nice.

Spotty face and still bleeding (but not much). Just don't want to have to wait forever before trying again - but don't want to go through another missed m/c if there's a way it could be prevented.

Sorry. Am rambling. Have had some nice Christmas parties in the meantime so it's not all bad. Except it is .

TwilightSurfer · 18/12/2007 22:32

Hi ladies. I just wanted to pop by and let you all know 1st that I'm so thankful for the support I received here and 2nd let you know that my miracle conception (17days post-mc) seems to be sticking. Doc took a picture yesterday at 5+2 (check my gallery). No MC is going to stop me!! The power of the Avengers is too strong. Keep your eye on the prize ladies. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

kate2179 · 18/12/2007 23:19

Wooo hoo Twilight! FANTASTIC!! Looking forward to more photos of your miracle bean over the coming weeks and months

Verso so sorry to hear you're feeling terrible. I know we've all been there, but that doesn't always help that much when you're going through it... Take some time for yourself if you can, my skin which is always a bit dodgy was TERRIBLE just after my mc and with all the hormones flying around as well it was just one thing too much to cope with so I know exactly how you feel. Can you go for a facial? I'm always amazed how much better my skin is when I do, and I always feel incredibly relaxed afterwards which makes it doubly worthwhile, just wish it wasn't so expensive! I know it won't be anywhere near the answer to everything that's worrying you, but it seems to me that when there are so many big things to worry about that you can't do much about sometimes it helps to do something positive about the little things that you can do something about! Haven't put that very clearly I'm afraid but I hope you know what I mean...

TJuice thank you so much for your post last night, you know that is exactly what I wanted to hear, made me feel a lot better.

Dustin so sorry to hear about your dog, and sorry I was too self obsessed to say so last night. Our spaniel is 3 and I totally can't imagine life without him.... Really hope you're ok.

kate2179 · 18/12/2007 23:20

PS how was your scan today TJuice?

sfxmum · 19/12/2007 09:39

Twilight - fabulous news, very pleased for you

Verso - so sorry you are feeling low, all part and parcel but very hard to take. Indulge in things that make you happy and bring you some comfort

cricri - a shindig seems like just the thing, glad you had a good time

slishsplosh - I am still to do a huge part of shopping incl. presents, at least will be away for the big day.

aqua - it is quite hard so bitter sweet, I like hearing of happy successful baby stories despite the inevitable twinge of sadness.

all ticking along ok here

take care all
