@Marvellouslymadmum yes, fingers crossed the scan shows it working!

paintfairy · 02/11/2021 09:55

Jeez, this is hard. It already hasn't gone as well as I hoped. Only 5 fertilised (8 were mature). And we have to wait until Saturday now (transfer day) to know if any make it.

polejunkie · 02/11/2021 10:12

@paintfairy it is hard, I remember it all too well but don't be disheartened - We went straight from 8 to only 2 fertilising overnight! One survived and that one was transferred and I'm 20 weeks pregnant today. I can't tell you how I felt waiting until transfer day as I didn't expect there to be anything left, hang in there, 5 is great x

paintfairy · 02/11/2021 10:15

@polejunkie really? God I can't imagine how stressful that must have been for you! You are right though, it only takes one. I guess the worry is that you won't have one but there's absolutely nothing you can do about it, but sit here panicking. 🤦‍♀️ What you've said makes me feel a little better though, thanks.

polejunkie · 02/11/2021 10:24

@paintfairy of course you panic, I was up and down like a yoyo and even with people telling me I only needed one I really didn't think one go would work. I so desperately hoped for a transfer AND some to freeze, but it really did only take one Smile thinking of you and all I can say is be kind to yourself, there's nothing you can do to help between now and sat except look after you x

paintfairy · 02/11/2021 10:45

@polejunkie yes I think it feels easier to go onto it, knowing you have a back up. Having it resting on one is a massive pressure. I'm pleased it worked for you though. That's amazing.

kerrym87 · 02/11/2021 15:59

@Marvellouslymadmum opk are notoriously unreliable for pcos sufferers even with things like clomid they advised me to not bother. If clomid doesn't work I suggest you ask for letrozole as although it's unlicensed at present it's actually showing better results than clomid. So far it's brought my ovulation right forward and I don't have nearly 2 weeks of failed attempts to ovulate resulting in a 2 week fertile window! We were both knackered 🤣

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/11/2021 16:44

@thislittlebird well the scan showed nothing as she couldn't find my ovaries 🤦🏼‍♀️ she just about managed to find the right one after fiddling around in there forever, but could only make out one follicle, said there could be more but she couldn't see and couldn't find the left one at all!

@paintfairy that's still 5 chances 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

@kerrym87 as far as I know I don't have pcos but as no one can ever find my ovaries who really even knows! I do however get failed ovulation 3/4 times most months which is a nightmare.

becarefuloutthere · 02/11/2021 18:04

@paintfairy 5 is really good honestly. I had 4 in the end so hopefully these 5 all hang on until sat or even if one drops off you have 4 ready n waiting 🤞🏾will be thinking of you x

@Marvellouslymadmum that's a pain, has anyone ever said why they have trouble finding your ovaries? Surely that must be an issue in itself?

paintfairy · 02/11/2021 18:16

@becarefuloutthere the drop off rate is 50% though, so I think if we get 2 we'll be lucky? 3 would be a bonus. I'm panicking we won't get any. 🙄
@Marvellouslymadmum what? How can she not find them?

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/11/2021 18:27

@becarefuloutthere both times they've said I have very excessive bowel gas which doesn't help (basically bloating) but she also said the one she did find was right over to the side, I did discuss if it could be endo related keeping them in strange places and she said it could be yes

@paintfairy I've no idea!! I didn't think it was a thing that your ovaries could just be off in a jolly somewhere 🤷🏼‍♀️ so we are just going to carry on dtd and hope for the best. She also said that they want me to have my day 21 on day21 no matter when I ovulate so that won't really help much to find out if it's worked either!

OP posts:
thislittlebird · 02/11/2021 18:52

@Marvellouslymadmum yeah it happens. They float around in there. Is this your first or second internal scan?

On my first ever scan my left ovary was off on a jolly somewhere floating above my uterus or something. They can get stuck too.

thislittlebird · 02/11/2021 18:53

@paintfairy five is good, fingers crossed they’re all ok in a few days

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/11/2021 19:01

@thislittlebird second, last time she couldn't find them at all, this lady did a lot more jiggling around to get to them - I am not happy with my absent ovaries, it's like they've taken early retirement and I'm not having it! They can damn well in-retire and get back to work 😂

OP posts:
thislittlebird · 02/11/2021 20:49

@Marvellouslymadmum they’ve literally floated off 🙃. Did they ever suggest they could be stuck to you? Since this is the second absentee scan, because endo can cause that and yet again they really should be putting you forward for a lap.

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/11/2021 21:04

@thislittlebird I asked the scanner today if that could be the case and she said yes it could as it does happen. So I'm hoping that'll be more evidence towards getting a lap! But they've never suggested it themselves.

OP posts:
paintfairy · 02/11/2021 21:43

@Marvellouslymadmum yes I was just thinking the same actually. Ovaries are free and do float. So move. But continuously not being able to find it, doesn't seem right. It's really annoying that you have to push for everything.

Annny27 · 02/11/2021 22:27

@paintfairy keeping everything crossed for you!!

@marvellouslymadmum how strange! My ovary was stuck on the scan which suggested endo and that's why they out me forward for the lap

Annny27 · 02/11/2021 22:28

P.s my period was sooooooooo heavy after the lap, like 5 days of heavy bleeding vs the one day of heavy and 4 light that I usually get! Hope it was s good clearout haha.

Not dtd yet, too scared 🤣

Marvellouslymadmum · 03/11/2021 09:12

@paintfairy it's so frustrating! The right one was definitely not where it belonged and as she couldn't find the left I'm guessing that was off somewhere too it wasn't just the gas getting in the way.

@Annny27 I don't think she even put on the notes anything other than gas which is annoying as it won't add weight to me needing a lap 🙄

🤞🏻 for you dtd this time could've really helped!

Motherofkittens28 · 03/11/2021 16:19

@paintfairy everything crossed for you. I got one egg collected on my first cycle and it made it to day 5 and got put back, the percentages are just averages so don't read too much into them!

paintfairy · 03/11/2021 17:24

@Motherofkittens28 thanks. I guess you always assume the worst. One making it all the way though is pretty amazing!

becarefuloutthere · 03/11/2021 21:37

@paintfairy ah yes you're right. I think 8 fertilised for us and we got 4 so that makes sense. 3 would be fab! I'm sure you'll get at least that 🤞🏾 hard not to panic though. Few more days to go!
@Marvellouslymadmum hmm how interesting! Yet they still won't speed up your lap, so frustrating for you 😣
@thislittlebird mine was stuck to my bladder due to endo, madness isn't it.

crazycatlady1981 · 04/11/2021 07:44

Hi ladies! Just having a catch up on everything! Hope everyone is doing ok!!

@paintfairy good to hear that the EC went ok and still having 5 embryos at this point is a great number! We got 5 eggs, 4 fertilised and then 2 made it to day 5/6, so 50% of them! Hopefully you’ll have 2 or 3 🤞🏻 but there have been a few success stories on here with only one so don’t give up hope!!
The wait until day 5 is a killer though, it would be so much easier having a daily update on those little embabies!! Wishing you lots of luck for Saturday!!

@Annny27 good luck with dtd this cycle!! So exciting that it could be your month now that you’ve had the lap! 😬

@Marvellouslymadmum that’s so crazy that your ovaries go missing! I always thought they were fixed in place but obviously not! 🙃 Fingers crossed for you this month with the clomid!

This is the first month that I haven’t tracked anything in about 18 months and it was really nice to not have to think about temperatures, poas or timed dtd!! Just enjoyed ourselves! 😏
Had our follow up call with ivf clinic yesterday and she seemed quite positive that it would eventually happen and it was likely just bad luck that our last two transfers failed and that it’s only our age that’s against us (just turned 40 in October) but we had a good fertilisation rate and good quality embryos. Planning to do another round in Jan, I just need to phone them in Dec to give them the go ahead! Sounds like there will be quite a few of us doing ivf in January! 😊

paintfairy · 04/11/2021 08:46

@becarefuloutthere @crazycatlady1981 Saturday still seems so far away! Its so hard not knowing anything. This is our one and only shot though, so no pressure like. We can't afford to go again and age is against us too.

Yes I think there will be a fair few people in January! All systems go.
