@MIW01 that's good that you've got another go on the nhs, hopefully you've got more chance as it'll be after the op too!

@paintfairy it does me too, she even said yes you have adenomyosis and possibly endometriosis but it's not effecting fertility - erm how do you know that?!! It's very unfair you only get one go, I just don't know how they can justify it being su different in each area!

@Marvellouslymadmum the post code lottery is ridiculous. Where I am you get nothing if you are over 35! Seems crazy that she is just making assumptions about your fertility without testing or looking into anything, doesn't sound like a good Dr! Do you have any option for going elsewhere?

Marvellouslymadmum · 09/09/2021 13:23

@Motherofkittens28 the cut of for any I've assistance is 38 here, it just doesn't make sense to me Why it's all different. To be honest it just seemed like she wanted me out so she could get on with the next appointment. If I don't get anywhere with the clomid I will push her for a laparoscopy and if she still says no I will go back to the go for a specialist endo referral. The trouble is I could go elsewhere for an opinion but there's no way I'm paying thousands for a lap, I need to have that done so that any funds we have can go towards Ivf if we need it

Morning ladies!
So af arrived yesterday and I’m starting my FET this cycle! Yay! But then I asked about when my scans etc would be and she said that they don’t do scans during a natural FET!! So then I had a meltdown!! 😭😭
Does anyone know if this is normal to not have scans or be monitored during an FET?? I feel like they’re just going to shovel my one and only embryo in on transfer day and hope for the best without checking my lining or anything! 😩

@crazycatlady1981 I never had any scans for my FETs either and 3/4 embryos implanted, if that provides any comfort?

Juno231 · 10/09/2021 11:24

@crazycatlady1981 From what I've read about FETs you'd still expect to have a baseline scan and then 1-2 more scans to see if the lining is ready? In fact, one of the ladies on another bus I'm on definitely had monitoring scans for lining and transfer day got pushed back and her meds upped because her lining wasn't thick enough the first time. I'd call back and challenge them.

@Sunbird24 this was minster2012 for the FET scans just FYI.

Mini update from me - I got my funding approval letter through the post yesterday. It shockingly came with an appointment to get the ball rolling on TUESDAY already. I'm starting a new job on the 4th so asked them to delay the appointment to the end of Oct for me. That way by the time we start treatment it should be January and I'd be ready to go!

crazycatlady1981 · 10/09/2021 11:43

@Sunbird24 oh yes, that does give me comfort! Thank you! 💖 Did they scan you at the transfer before putting the embryo in?

@clolo yay! Nice to have some else along for the ride!! Yes it seems strange not to be monitored in any way! Everyone always seems to have loads of scans for both natural & medicated FETs! I’ve got a tonne of Pomegranate juice ready so hopefully my lining will be ok!! 🤞🏻

@Juno231 I’m going to contact them today anyway to ask about progesterone as no one has mentioned that yet and I’ll probably find out they don’t give me that either!!
Yay for your appointment though and roll on the new year for it all starting!! 🎉

Sunbird24 · 10/09/2021 11:50

@crazycatlady1981 no, they’ve got the measurements of my uterus from another scan I had done in the run-up to EC, so they use those to make sure they put the embryos in the right place. Seems to work so far!

crazycatlady1981 · 10/09/2021 11:53

@Sunbird24 ok that’s good!! I will try to stop worrying now and go with the flow! 🙂
It would have helped if they’d actually explained all this beforehand!!
If we don’t get a good outcome and decide to go again, I’ll definitely be changing clinics!!

Sunbird24 · 10/09/2021 12:13

Yeah, doesn’t sound like communication is a strong point with whoever you’re using at the mo! Fingers crossed for you 🤞

I’d been reading all the ‘biggest mistake of my life’ type threads and wondering whether I really wanted this or was just doing it because I thought I was supposed to, my parents deserve to be GPs, my BFF wants me to etc. Then yesterday a friend from my old workplace that I’ve not seen throughout the pandemic (and doesn’t know about my latest mishap) announced in our group chat that she’s 24 weeks, with a lovely scan pic, and it just broke me. So I guess that puts that doubt to bed at least…

crazycatlady1981 · 10/09/2021 15:51

@Sunbird24 oh hun, that’s so tough! 💕 But at least it’s made up your mind for you. It’s so difficult not to doubt your own feelings about having a baby when you been trying for so long, especially with everything you’ve been through with the ivf! I’m always having moments when I think I’ve had enough of ttc and then each month I go back for more!! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I haven’t decided what to do if the next transfer fails, but I’ll deal with it if the time comes!

Have you still got some frozen embryos or would you have to start another fresh round?

Sunbird24 · 10/09/2021 16:00

@crazycatlady1981 I’ve got 3 more - if none of them make it I think that will be it for me though. I’m too old to be allowed another round of egg collection so double donor would be my only option, and I really wanted some biological connection.

crazycatlady1981 · 10/09/2021 17:00

@Sunbird24 that’s good to have 3 left still. Hopefully the tests they’re doing will give them some idea how to help for your next transfer🤞🏻

Marvellouslymadmum · 10/09/2021 19:07

@crazycatlady1981 oh that surprises me! I really thought frozen would be similar to fresh!

@Juno231 when they decide to get going they really do go fast!

@Sunbird24 three is a good number! And like @crazycatlady1981 says, with the tests they may work out something that needs changing too 🤞🏻

polejunkie · 12/09/2021 06:59

@Juno231 yay for the funding! How do you feel now it’s happening, quite surreal isn’t it? Did you son to them about pushing back slightly?

@Sunbird24 any ideas when you may receive answers to the genetic tests, I hope you’re keeping well? Are you back at work yet?

@crazycatlady1981 how are you feeling? My fingers are crossed for your next transfer 🤞🏼

@clolo how about you, short protocol will fly by!! Will be thinking of you!

I had my 12 week scan, all ok - just awaiting combined results and crossing fingers for a low risk outcome. Honestly the waiting never stops 🙈

Positive vibes to all, you’re all amazing and mustn’t underestimate the journey you’re on 💫

@Sunbird24 3 left is a good shot! That's what we have frozen too and so thankful as we always wanted two.
@polejunkie congratulations on the 12 week scan, very pleased for you ♥️
@clolo that is soon! So much luck and love to you, I hope all goes well 🤞🏾

We went for a private scan last week for reassurance and to find out the sex, we're having a girl! 💖 Very happy with that, I thought it'd be a boy due to the embryo grade stats being higher for boys. I hope everyone's ok and having a nice weekend.

Congratulations @becarefuloutthere on your little girl.

@clolo the worst part for me was the 2ww ! Never has it felt so long in the 3 or so years we've been ttc! Wishing you the best of luck. I wasn't told what grade my embryo was either, jist that is was very high quality

Thank you @kerrym87 how are you getting on?

@polejunkie glad to hear 12 week scan was all OK

crazycatlady1981 · 12/09/2021 19:14

@polejunkie so great to hear your scan went well! 💕 Hopefully the test results will be ok too!
I’m trying to just keep calm and just be excited about the fet, but worries keep creeping in because it’s our only embryo and last shot unless we go for another round!

@becarefuloutthere aah that’s wonderful news! Congratulations on your girl!!

@clolo my transfer is likely to be in 2 weeks as well if I ovulate around cd14 😬

Theawkwardblonde · 12/09/2021 22:57

@becarefuloutthere congrats on the girl! How far along are you now?

paintfairy · 13/09/2021 13:38

@clolo @crazycatlady1981 not long to go!
@polejunkie excellent news!
@Sunbird24 It is hard to grasp how you feel sometimes. Until something specific happens.

crazycatlady1981 · 13/09/2021 13:53

Another question for FET folks! Do you usually get prescribed progesterone for an FET?
Nothing had been said about progesterone, so I queried it with the clinic because of my usual post ovulation spotting and I’ve managed to get them to prescribe me some pessaries, but otherwise I wouldn’t have had any at all!! I thought it was standard to have progesterone support for all transfers! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Juno231 · 13/09/2021 13:56

@crazycatlady1981 did you ask them about scans again btw?
