Hi ladies,

I’ve been lurking for a few days, just seeing what the deal is, trying to work out some of the terminology used, mostly going to post but then getting scared and carry on lurking haha.

I don’t really have anyone I can talk about the TTC journey with in my real life as we aren’t telling anyone as it stands so I’m hoping maybe I can make a few friends here that I can obsess and stress out with 🤣

I’m currently CD 7 in my first cycle so tracking with OPKs every day right now so that I can get a clearer picture of my cycle each month.

I’m 30 and this will be our 1st,

If anyone has any advice/is in a similar position to me or just wants a natter I’d love to hear from you 😊

Xx

@Peachycream It’s so true, I always want what I can’t have!

I think I will but just once a day for the first week. In my last cycle I think my body tried to ovulated on CD12 which would be a week after 🧙🏻‍♀️ so I want to catch it in time! Hopefully using the BBT thermometer will give me a better chance of nailing it too?

Peachycream · 15/06/2021 18:02

@HRP1990 I know right?!

I only tested once a day through all of it, by my surge was slow over 3/4 days, the only day I tested twice was when my CB gave me a static but I still wanted to fill in my graph 😂
Does yours go straight up and down in 1 day then? I ordered the BBT thermometer earlier, should come tomorrow.

How are you feeling about a new cycle? I’m kinda at the point now where I just wanna start a fresh one 🤔

OP posts:
HRP1990 · 15/06/2021 18:10

@Peachycream Mine was the same, Premom says it’s a gradual surge? My peak only lasts like 12 hours though at most. I’m hoping once I use the thermometer and my temp drops I’ll know I’m 100% ovulating. (I think that’s how it works..)

I felt abit crap this morning however they say 80% of couples conceive in 12 months so I can’t be too hard on myself during the first month! I’m just happy AF is here, everything is working properly and I can crack on again!

You must feel abit in limbo with the not knowing? That’s certainly how I felt over the weekend x

Peachycream · 15/06/2021 18:19

@HRP1990 yeah mine must be the same as I had my peak and then when I tested again the next day it was lower, still high but lower than my peak, then the next day it was all back down on the floor.

Hopefully using BBT will help you get a better idea of it all. It warns you for 🧙 as well doesn’t it? Cause your temp is supposed to drop then too? Although I have no idea how because for the first 2 days of my 🧙 I feel super hot at night haha.

Yeah that’s exactly the way to look at it, everything turned up when you expected it to so at least you know you’re not dealing with long cycles/irregular and whatever else. I think you can do all you possibly can do but at the end of the day, it really is just luck of the draw I suppose.

Uhm, I’m not sure I feel in limbo, just more bored and fed up with it now? I’m pretty comfortable getting my BFN this morning, I know it’s only 10DPO but I haven’t really noticed anything untoward over the last 10 days so it was kinda expected, plus the fact that my timings would have been so squeaky this month I went into the TWW knowing it was a super long shot anyway. So I’m just kinda done with it………if that makes sense?

@Babyghirl welcome to the thread and I’m so sorry to hear about your losses. Everything crossed for you that you get a sticky BFP ASAP, it sounds like the doctors are finally doing something helpful.

I use BBT and yeah your temp drops just before/day of your period, although it can dip sometimes in the 2WW and that’s normal too. It’s been helpful for me as I can see when my body attempts but fails, and otherwise I’d assume I’d ovulated and be wondering where AF was!

I was planning to start OPKs today but forgot until the second I finishing going for a wee after work. Going to try and do them around 4pm so I’ll start tomorrow. Not a big deal as I won’t be ovulating for a while anyway 🙄 this bit is so boring.

Peachycream · 15/06/2021 18:36

@SkeletonSkins I started doing mine in the afternoon but found they were generally better in the morning/early afternoon, mostly because I drink like a fish!

I found the pre ovulation bit far less boring than the TWW if I’m honest. But that’s possibly because it was my first cycle trying and I found the whole thing exciting 😂

OP posts:
SkeletonSkins · 15/06/2021 19:01

Ooo interesting maybe I need to do them in the morning, just a bit of a hassle as I’m often out and about with work.

KayL1988 · 15/06/2021 19:05

You've all been so busy chatting! Feta is amazing @HRP1990

@Babyghirl sorry about your losses .. welcome! Sending you lots of positivity xx

Yes the easy@home Bluetooth one is amazing and if you don't want a Bluetooth one they say go for one that has a backlight ... because otherwise you need to switch the light on to check your reading!!

Yes my temp dips before my temp rise .... My LH level rises a lot before it spikes so I think I might getting better warning .. but the temp has definitely helped. If your temp doesn't rise after ovulation it signifies you might have produced LH but not released an egg.., that was the bit I was most intrigued about!

HRP1990 · 15/06/2021 19:09

Exactly - everything is working the way it should so that’s the positive to take from it.

Yeah totally get it! You just need to know either way don’t you so you can draw a line under it and look forward to the next month! Luck of the draw like you say @Peachycream

@SkeletonSkins that’s good to know re BBT. I’m actually quite excited to try it actually lol another item to add to the kit 😂

I keep my OPK’s next to the loo so I remember to do them when I wake up in the morning!

HRP1990 · 15/06/2021 19:10

That’s so interesting @KayL1988! I read somewhere what 1/2 months a year your body doesn’t actually ovulate so that’ll be interesting to be able to read into that with your temperature.

Our bodies are amazing!

Peachycream · 15/06/2021 19:11

@SkeletonSkins yeah that’s my problem too so I found it easier to do in the morning then what I do in the evening just because I can’t always be consistent, it’s worked for me.

Hellooooo @KayL1988 how has your day been? Any exciting goings on?

There should be a test to check fertilisation has occurred, it must produce some kind of hormone or chemical when it happens? At least you’d then know in the TWW you’re actually waiting for something! For all I know I could have been sitting here for 10 days twiddling my thumbs and produced a dud egg! It’s like playing one of those arcade grab machines for 2 weeks while being blindfolded and wearing earplugs 😂😂

I was supposed to tag you in that @HRP1990 🙈 what a moron haha

OP posts:
Peachycream · 15/06/2021 19:16

That’s the one I’ve ordered today @KayL1988 when did you start using it in your cycle? Is it worth doing it straight from the day after 🧙?

OP posts:
Babyghirl · 15/06/2021 19:28

@SkeletonSkins @KayL1988
Thank you for the warm welcome 💚

KayL1988 · 15/06/2021 19:31

Yeah they say you can temp test everyday because it tracks the pattern!

Our bodies are amazing and yes it says you don't ovulate a couple of months a year... so I'm obviously over any test that can help. Apparently cervical mucus and temp was how they used to do it back it the day!!!

Heyyy @Peachycream nothing exciting just been working.. nearly home now .. such a long day!! Ready for a nap!! Also there is a test for ovulation confirmation!!! It's called a PdG tests... but super expensive!

Peachycream · 15/06/2021 19:37

@Babyghirl where are you in your current cycle? I’m sorry it’s been so long for you, sorry I’ve only just caught that message 🙈

@KayL1988 I’ve seen those (I spent a good 3 hours trying to find out what they were when my premom app told me to do one 😂) you can get urine strips to do it which are masses cheaper BUT! From what I’ve found you can only get them in America and they don’t ship over here! The only ones I’ve found here you have to order, gob in a pot, post it back and wait a week for an email, by that point you may as well just wait the extra few days for either 🧙 or a BFP haha!

Bless ya with work though, are you back in the office now then? I’m assuming it’s an office, it could be a boat for all I know 😂

OP posts:
SkeletonSkins · 15/06/2021 19:39

This was my BBT for the last (really long) cycle that I ovulated, it’s really clear the increase in temp post ovulation, in comparison to the second graph which was last cycle, when I didn’t ovulate but my body made a couple of failed attempts with EWCM etc. I think I might have pvualtednif I hadn’t started taking the conceive plus, as that seemed to do a recent and I started spotting almost straight away. Final graph is this month so far 😂 so it’s handy because without temping I might have though I ovulated last cycle cause I got EWCM and a period, I’ll be interested to see if I get positive OPKs too when my body tries but fails (although best scenario is that stops happening!!)

SkeletonSkins · 15/06/2021 19:40

Those that opk in the morning do you just do it for your second wee if the day?

Peachycream · 15/06/2021 19:46

Gosh that looks confusing?! I think someone is gunna need to talk us temping newbies through all of this? Me for certain.

So here’s a question I never thought I’d ask out loud (or typed online for the rest of time) has anyone had a little……..root about to check cervix positions?

OP posts:
Peachycream · 15/06/2021 19:49

@SkeletonSkins it depends on what ones you’re using, The CB digi ones ask for FMU but the strip ones I use on second, I’ve read that LH starts secreting after 4am so I would say as long as it’s at least an hour after that maybe it doesn’t really matter? But don’t take my word on that because it’s only 1 thing I’ve read on it

OP posts:
SkeletonSkins · 15/06/2021 20:09

It’s pretty straight forward once you’re used to it I promise, basically after you ovulate your temp goes up and stays up till your period, which you can see in my first graph at the end, if the temps stay up you’re probably pregnant…

SkeletonSkins · 15/06/2021 20:10

Brill thanks I’m going to do it tomorrow AM!

Peachycream · 15/06/2021 20:18

@SkeletonSkins so basically you’re looking for a dip for ovulation and then a dip for AF? Big dips I’m guessing? Small ones are just normal fluctuation?

OP posts:
Babyghirl · 15/06/2021 20:19

@peachycream
Im cd9 today norm ovulate between cd11/13 so not long to go I use to do temp but it was stressing me out. Some ladies will c a drop in temp the day ovulation occurs then rise the nxt day if you do temp download fertility friend and that will give you a crosshair for ovulation once it detacts 3 days of raised temp It gets easier after a while of doing it but remember you need to do it same time every morning before moving out of bed don't even drink anything before taking it and can I say better taking in vaginally as you get a better reading as doing it by mouth can be off if u sleep with ur mouth open 💚

Babyghirl · 15/06/2021 20:22

@SkeletonSkins
I use to use the lh strips they say from 2 to 8 is best time to test with them and try nt to drink for a few hours before hand as they say your hormone for them rises during the day so won't be in ur system early morning 💚
