Pregnant after miscarriage

Hi all!

I had a miscarriage in June 2020, it was early and I passed it fully at about 5 weeks, ive just found out im pregnant again which is obviously amazing but honestly im terrified, I feel so anxious that the same thing will happen again and I just need a handhold really. I know there's every chance it will be fine this time but im just so worried that I'll miscarry again and have to dust myself off and keep going 😑 any tips to stay relaxed? We are going to have a private scan all being well if things look okay in a few weeks but just until then I need to stay sane 💙

I could have written your post 2 years ago - my DS is now running around the house causing havoc! It is horrid what you’ve been through and does take the shine off of a new pregnancy. Not sure if this will help or not but I used to use this website to work out my chances of miscarrying again and each week it goes down. Sorry to hear these sad experiences people have been though. I had CP miscarriage 6th of jan this year and straight into my next cycle. I just wanted to know if anyone got pregnant straight after a chemical pregnancy?

Hi @MelisB1234 I'm sorry to hear of your chemical. I've never had a chemical but I have conceived straight after a mc (so no period after mc) twice

Oh wow 😁😁 thats nice to hear. I ovulated on 21st and 9dpo but i have no symptoms. Felt sick 2dpo but thats to early then i had cramping 7dpo and my temp had a slight drop but was up yesterday then a slightly drop today.
Just hoping really x

@MelisB1234 unfortunately the first time I conceived after mc it didn't work out, but I then went on to have a third loss so something is clearly wrong. Yes, I'm currently pregnant. Can't believe I'm saying this but I'll be 12 weeks on Monday, which is much further than we've ever got before. I'm on medication this time following a mc in November (then conceived that month again) so hopefully it's doing its job!

@MelisB1234 thank you. It's still early days and nothing is guaranteed, but hopefully this time it'll be the one!

I used to go absolutely crazy in the tww. I hate it so much! This is going to sound weird, but I did feel like something was just happening in there, they do say you can't feel it so it was probably in my head though! The only other thing was that I was getting up 3-4 times a night to pee for a couple of nights before I got my bfp (which was already 3-4 days before AF was due. Oh and the other thing was I had some brown bleeding from 5/6DPO for a few days

Im hoping this month works out for me. With my daughter who is 2 now i had nothing apart from leaving nipples the day before my AF which was random.

With the chemical i felt quizey here and there and had cramping 9dpo. Im hoping the cramps 7dpo was implantation as i never get cramps even when AF comes.
AF is due in 6days so will see x

Just thought I'd update! Scan went went, baby is measuring 6w6d and a little heartbeat 💓

Hey ladies! Thought I'd just update you on my crazy few days! My morning sickness was horrendous and was pretty much all day sickness. It got to the point where I couldn't keep a thing down and was vomiting 15+ times a day. I was admitted to hospital on Sunday and after 7 IV fluids and some good anti sickness and complete rest I feel alot better! Still a little nauseous but so much more manageable and im hoping we've turned a corner now. We have a scan at EPU tomorrow morning as I had some light brown discharge after a severe vomiting episode so please keep your fingers crossed for baby!

They scanned me during my stay but it was abdominal and I have a tilted uterus and my bladder wasn't all that full so they couldn't see much, she said she could see a heartbeat so im hoping all is okay

Baby is fine girls! Im so relieved! Measuring 8w3d and a lovely strong heartbeat 💓 seems completely unfazed by all the dramatics xxx

This is my 5th pregnancy - I have one DC and then had 3 early MC. I am now taking aspirin, folic acid, pyridoxine, fragmin (blood thinners) and progesterone. I am 8w today by date but had a scan and they dated me 5 days back. So I should be between 7-8 weeks pregnant. I am understandably very anxious and still check my tissue paper every time too!!

My next scan is at 12 weeks, I wish I could have one before but have not been given one. Bit surprised because at my last pregnancy I was offered a scan every 2 weeks. I don’t know if I should push for another scan soon...

Hi @AdriannaP is it an option for you to go private? I was offered an extra scan at 10 weeks because of my history (3 mcs, no children) but I've had to book several more private ones because I just can't deal with anxiety. I asked for an extra reassurance one when I had my dating scan, and the midwife very shortly told me no, I don't need one because everything looks fine, despite knowing my history. Absolutely no way can I wait until 20 weeks for another scan, so as soon as we got home we booked another two, each two weeks apart. I've had 5 scans so far (3 NHS, one due to bleeding, one extra reassurance and the dating one), and if we're still going at 20 weeks that will be scan number 8... they just don't understand because they haven't been through it. Luckily the scan clinic is half price atm!!!! If you had a scan every 2 weeks in your last pregnancy I would definitely push for that though, and remind them they offered them last time, why should this be any different?

I'm also on progesterone too! When are you coming off it? Is it making you bloat at all?

@Daffodil21 I didn’t have those scans during my last pregnancy, I MC at 6 weeks. They just offered them then.
This time they said not necessary to scan me before week 12 which is still 4 weeks away!!! My DH thinks it’s OTT to go private (he thinks NHS knows best) but doesn’t understand how anxious I am. All my MC started with bleeding and as long as I am not bleeding I am hoping for the best!

No idea re progesterone- nobody has told me yet. I assume 12 or 16 weeks? You? I don’t think I have any side effects from it.

@AdriannaP sorry, I should learn to read properly. But if they offered them then they should now surely, even more so??

I think my husband thinks I'm ridiculous when I keep wanting scans, but it's easy for the men to say - they don't get it, so really it's not up to them. He never says anything and doesn't protest, but I think he would have happily continued until the dating scan without any scans beforehand.

Mine says to go until 16 weeks, but the consultant said I could keep on it until 20 weeks if I wanted to, although she didn't think it was necessary. I have enough pesseries to keep me going until 20 weeks (if we're still going by then) so I may as well, but I might lower the dose and just take one a day rather than 2...

I hope at some point we get to all enjoy this..!

I think I will push again for another scan at 10 weeks and if they won’t give me one, just pay for one.
