First month TTC

Hi ladies,

I’m new to this and would really appreciate your help. This is my first month TTC. I’m currently on CD4 so still middle of my period. Just wondering what helped you all conceive in your first month of trying and any tips you have. I have clearblue OPK ready and have been tracking my cycles for a which vary from 27-34 day cycles with 2 random 45 day cycles one of them being my last cycle.

Anyone else TTC this month?

Thanks in advance x

@ToniRx18 Hey there! I’m afraid this is 1st month TTC and I haven’t experienced what you’re saying before, but I hope it sorts itself out and becomes clearer for you very soon what is going on! Feeling in limbo is so hard! Xx

ToniRx18 · 09/02/2021 09:25

@JoannaRose thanks for the reply I know think I might just take it as a period so I don't build myself up and get back to baby making which my husband will be made up over 🤭

greenfrogs1 · 09/02/2021 19:10

@BubblesNSnuggles thank you for your reply, it's reassuring. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that it can be a bit confusing! 🤯 thanks for sticking around to give moral support and advice too even though you have your BFP ☺️

@JoannaRose I tested again this morning and got another BFN on both a clear blue and FRER. Still 3 days until my period is due. Honestly I've gone testing crazy this month and decided next month I will absolutely not test until the day my period is due (easier said than done 😂). Otherwise I MAY need to take out a loan/remortgage my house to fund my current pregnancy test addiction.

I know what you mean. I had really bad cramps around 7DPO on and off for two or three days, which is something that never happens to me. Normally I wouldn't be too crushed if AF turns up (it's only our second month trying) but I think if she does turn up I will just feel really frustrated with my body as I feel like it is playing tricks on me, if that makes sense?

I didn't use OPKs this month either but I've been using a period tracking app for about 3 years and it normally gets my cycles spot on so I have using that to judge ovulation.

How is everyone else getting on? Anyone get snow? X

greenfrogs1 · 09/02/2021 19:14

@ToniRx18 I am not an expert but I have been reading a lot of old mumsnet threads today on when people got their BFP. I was quite surprised that many people didn't get their BFP until 5 or 6 days after their period was due. Have you googled implantation bleeding? I think it can happen around when your period is due but is normally lighter in colour. It may be worth doing another test in a few days to check whether that was your period or not x

Chels139 · 09/02/2021 20:06

Hey ladies, currently In ttw and not feeling too bad - although think AF might be coming as so clumsy. Been reading online that you shouldn't do spin or have a bath whilst in ttw which one done both so now worried I've ruined it. Do you think that's true or just over cautious?

ToniRx18 · 09/02/2021 20:40

@greenfrogs1 thanks for your reply 🙂 when I have looked it up I do have a lot of the signs I still am currently getting some cramp niggles on my right side so hope so , I have never experienced implantation bleeding before with any my other 5 children so it's a new territory for me unfortunately think I am just going to have to wait and see for now, baby dust to you all 💞👶 💞

PineappleSun · 09/02/2021 21:19

Still here as well girls just don't want to come across as a smug bfp person. I tested on the day AF was due and only got a very faint positive so it's definitely worth trying again if you get a negative early on.

JoannaRose · 10/02/2021 11:47

Hey @greenfrogs1 how are you feeling today?? I hope no sign if AF showing up! I am still having cramps and craving chocolate so classic signs of AF on the way but I’m not due apparently until 19th so I’m a bit perplexed!! I am wondering if she will show up early Confused I am trying to hold out until Sunday to test but I’m not sure I can wait that long! I think I will be the same as you and feel a bit crushed if AF comes as I am sure I’ve had symptoms but just want to know either way and get started on next cycle if it’s not this one. Really hoping for BFPs on this thread! I get so excited when I see others get BFPs! Xxx

@PineappleSun Hey!! How are you getting on?? How far along are you now? I personally don’t find it smug as you were in the same boat as us and I find it so encouraging! Xxx

@ToniRx18 how is it going?? Has your bleeding eased or are you still thinking it’s AF? Hope you’re doing well xx

Ladies, we are renovating our house and currently are waiting for plumber to fit a shower in so only have a bath? It does have a shower head attached to tap but that’s more for just rinsing hair in bath etc. I have heard that you should not have hot baths when TTC, but I obviously have to wash so I have been having warm baths instead of hot, warm that I can just get in straight away and don’t have to ease myself in kind of thing. Do you think even warm baths may impact TTC for the worst?? I am so worried! Maybe I am worrying too much? Xxx

Chels139 · 10/02/2021 13:49

@JoannaRose I literally posted about the same worry yesterday 😂 but I did some research and I think it seems fine.

PineappleSun · 10/02/2021 15:13

@JoannaRose the cramping never ends so it might not be an AF sign. I'm good thanks, 7+2, just about coping with the nausea and got an early scan on Saturday, hoping for a heartbeat.

Mum2Girls19 · 10/02/2021 17:33

Hi all

Can I join here?

I am CD6 today
Juts had my first period after my copper coil was removed last month :)
Taking my temp and opking once a day but what do I expect? How do I know when to expect ovulation as I dont want to miss it..

ToniRx18 · 10/02/2021 18:02

@JoannaRose still getting cramps now and again bleeding left me a day n half after it started so it stopped Saturday afternoon , all the is it af or isn't it is driving me insane so I am just going to keep trying and if I get anymore signs of pregnancy then I will retest , hope your well? I was using opks last month and I got my peaking the 21st but I find that very stressful, all my other kids were conceived without that so I think am going to leave doing that for now and just go with my bodies signals 🙂

greenfrogs1 · 11/02/2021 09:32

Morning girlies!

AF due tomorrow and I THINK I'm beginning to get a few AF like symptoms.

Tbh just looking forward to her showing up now so I can have a nice glass of wine 🍷 and then start a fresh cycle. I'm banning myself from early testing/symptom spotting next month!

@Mum2Girls19 welcome. I'm afraid I can't advise on the OPK tracking as I haven't done it yet. Hopefully someone else on here can fill u in.

Eeeek let us know how your scan goes @PineappleSun. So excited for you!!

Xx

greenfrogs1 · 11/02/2021 09:34

Also I haven't heard anything that says you can't have a bath when TTC? I know you're not supposed to have mega hot baths though. I may google it x

LiGigi · 11/02/2021 13:37

@Chels139 I think the idea is that sperm don't do very well in hot environments so from what I understood you should try to keep cool to preserve any sperm that might be lingering around waiting for an egg and maybe for 48 hours after ovulation. But if the egg has been fertilised, I dont think temperature has much of an affect after that? Not a doctor here, but unless you have boiling baths I think you'll be OK :)

I'm due to ovulate in 4 days. Going to DTD tonight and get started with OPKs tomorrow. Would so love a November baby! I read earlier that a few of you won't try in March as having a birthday around Christmas isn't great... has anyone changed their mind?
I was thinking along the same lines initially but then thought what if March is my month and I get to meet my gorgeous baby in December? So I think I'll be TTC in March as well if it comes to it :)

FieldView · 11/02/2021 16:55

Hi @LiGigi,

I've been lurking in the shadows a bit this cycle. Currently halfway through the TWW and trying to stay but cooler about everything this time around.

Definitely still planning on trying to avoid a December baby. My cycle is quite long though, so based on predicted ovulation, it would be due end of Nov and for the next cycle would be due first week of Jan - both of those are out as I wouldn't want it to be early or late and then end up in December 😂

It goes against everything to be delaying it further, but a December baby would be a nightmare for us in the long run! DH has children that we have on Christmas Day every other year, and our respective families don't live near each other (mine are further away). It's quite tricky trying to juggle things over the festive period to keep everyone happy, and adding another grandchild/birthday to the mix would complicate things even further.

December is out for us, and I think my due date for a January baby would be the first week of Jan which is also pretty rubbish, so I think I'm out until Feb!

FieldView · 11/02/2021 16:56

Definitely each to their own though, and if our set up was different I probably wouldn't fuss too much!

Eaststreet · 11/02/2021 18:56

Hi all
I’ve been so quiet on here recently but starting to lose my mind again in the tww.

Last month I was symptom spotting loads! I had convinced myself I was going to get BFP and obviously didn’t. This month I am feeling absolutely nothing 😂. Not a single symptom.

How is everyone else? Is anyone else in the tww?

Dixie1488 · 11/02/2021 19:52

Hi everyone! How are you?

Just like @Eaststreet I have also been quiet for a while. Had a break from chatting after AF arrived mid Jan. I am currently 7DPO so a little while longer until I can test! I also have no symptoms @eaststreet other than REALLY thirsty. No idea if that’s a thing? Haha.

Has anyone else become a bit obsessed with OPKs? 🙈

Eaststreet · 11/02/2021 20:41

@Dixie1488 I’m 6DPO so just behind you!

And yes also obsessed with opk’s, even my OH said ‘why aren’t you peeing on those sticks anymore Shock’ which led me to having to explain the whole bloody conception cycle to him again. He also keeps asking when ‘the window’ is coming back , literally days after ovulation. I’m probably just being harsh but it’s doing my head in that he can’t remember all of this 😂. Maybe he’s trying to take an interest 🙈 .

Dixie1488 · 11/02/2021 20:46

@Eaststreet ohhh we are around the same time then!

Haha mine said the same to me! I think he’s pleased I’ve stopped because I was always moaning I was thirsty and desperate for a wee when I had to hold it for 2 hours and avoid drink 😂

Atleast yours take an interest, mine just “performs” when needed and asks no questions 😂 I tried to explain cycles, ovulation etc but he looks so bored!

What TTC cycle are you on?

FieldView · 11/02/2021 20:55

7DPO over here! I've been good at not symptom spotting this time around but I'm getting a bit impatient now to see if AF will arrive 😂. No symptoms though!

I don't know if thirst is a sign @Dixie1488! You'll have to keep us posted!

Dixie1488 · 11/02/2021 21:12

@FieldView That’s good! Well done 😊 I haven’t been really either but I have been so much thirstier than usual for the past few days, I think it’s a bit odd! No matter how much I drink, it feels like I’ve had no drink at all!

Are you planning to wait for AF or test early?

LiGigi · 11/02/2021 21:38

@FieldView that makes a lot of sense. Sounds like its a crazy time for you already! Fingers crossed for that late November baby :)

@Dixie1488 'performs' when needed Grin I know how you feel! I feel like I'd have to sit him down for an hour to pass on the information that took hours and hours worth of Googling.

Due to ovulate on the 15th... so extra excited for Valentines day this year :D

Chels139 · 11/02/2021 21:39

Hi everyone

@Eaststreet I'm the same, symptom spotting and waiting to see if AF arrives. AF due in 8 days so really resisting the urge to test. I've noticed a couple of 'signs' or so I think. Probably just symptom spotting.
