First month TTC

Hi ladies,

I’m new to this and would really appreciate your help. This is my first month TTC. I’m currently on CD4 so still middle of my period. Just wondering what helped you all conceive in your first month of trying and any tips you have. I have clearblue OPK ready and have been tracking my cycles for a which vary from 27-34 day cycles with 2 random 45 day cycles one of them being my last cycle.

Anyone else TTC this month?

Thanks in advance x

@PineappleSun omg! How crazy is that! If it is a baby, I think we will have sufficient evidence to say that Nando's helps conception Grin
Have you developed any other symptoms? Morning sickness?

PineappleSun · 25/01/2021 19:52

@LiGigi must be that peri peri!
No morning sickness yet, I have noticed that I'm barely losing any hair in the shower and brushing it, weird but not much else to report.

shannonl26 · 25/01/2021 20:28

Hey ladies sorry I’ve missed a few days.

Hope everyone is feeling ok & those of you who are due to test soon, how are you?

My AF lasted 3 short days which is unusual for me, I’ve had periods last upto 14 days before! All PMS symptoms gone too so I’m just swaying ovulation now ☺️

I’ve had horrendous snow/ice, working on top of a mountain has it’s downfalls 😂 anybody else had bad snow?

BubblesNSnuggles · 25/01/2021 20:34

Hi all. 4dpo and not lost my marbles yet. With my little boy I got a positive test at 8dpo so by 7dpo Ill be itching to test 🙈😂

@VinoMerino I’ve had the same thoughts. I won’t be offered the vaccine for a while but I’ve considered what I’d do if I’m still TTC when the time comes. I suppose you’d have to weigh up the risks and it’d depend on your personal situation. Sorry, that doesn’t really help does it.

Also, really want a Nando’s now 😂

Kittysw · 25/01/2021 22:21

@shannonl26 We're back in the game :) Bring on the fun week. I love the snow but my DF hates it. I even tried to get him to go for a walk in it last night. He was having none of it. So I took myself out for a little walk today whilst he was working.

@VinoMerino like @BubblesNSnuggles said I think it really depends on your situation. I will be well down the list for vaccines so it isn't something I have given much thought. How much difference is the vaccine going to make to you personally in your work and life in general vs maybe age and situation with TTC. Again also not much help I'm sorry.

In other news with my life. Still furloughed but... the builders are in on Saturday to put up a wall between our living room and dining room and start our new utility room, and the electrician is in on Thursday to do lots of random bits including fitting lovely downlighters on the front of the house. (This is all I have to get excited about...Sad I know)

glassacorn · 25/01/2021 22:56

@VinoMerino

Can I ask, I'm on my first month ttc and I've been offered the Covid vaccine but would need to postpone ttc for 6 months Sad have any of you had the vaccine? Or are you happy to go ahead without it? I don't want to postpone ttc really Sad
Best thing to do is talk to your GP. 🙂 It's a balance of risks. It is known that pregnant women are slightly more at risk of adverse events if they catch it (with some demographics even more so), then any existing conditions (e.g. respiratory issues) also increase your personal risk. Some TTC women I know have been advised to have it, as the risk of them catching it is higher than the risk to a potential pregnancy and the chances (front line NHS) of being exposed to high viral loads is also high.
Dungareesandfreckles · 25/01/2021 23:05

This is exactly me too! And this is my first post :o... Confused

Eaststreet · 26/01/2021 07:34

Hi everyone!
I’m cd6 today, AF has finally buggered off and will be starting my opk’s again in a few days.

Feeling really nervous for this cycle, I know I’m still so early on (2nd cycle) but I was so positive last month and I think the realisation is setting in that it’s not going to be as easy as I thought.

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

PositiveParrot · 26/01/2021 08:04

@Eaststreet I feel you! Waiting for my first AF after coming off cerelle, feeling impatient.
I find the obsessing comes and goes 😂
Glad you’re nearly ready for cycle 2! xx

EllisRoses · 26/01/2021 13:13

How's everyone doing? It's my peak today! Only CD10 but confirmed by CM, the natural cycles app and by OPKS. I had sex Friday, Saturday and last night. Will probably try again tonight. It's my first month so I know it's unlikely but I'm excited to see. Last time I tested positive 17 days after ovulation, but my temp was rising everyday after ovulation so I had a feeling it had worked. Hoping for the same again Smile

Hallie91 · 26/01/2021 13:37

@BubblesNSnuggles I'm 4dpo too! Trying not to lose it. Luckily working a lot so it distracts me! I'm thinking I'll test on Sunday but not lose faith if BFN and retest when AF is due on the 5th. How about you?

Dungareesandfreckles · 26/01/2021 13:55

Hello 👋!

I hope you don’t mind me stopping by. I’m totally new to MN, and this is the first thread I’ve read, but I can’t tell you how much it’s helped me already. So glad to see some positive results, and it’s given me a lot of hope. I’m not sharing with anyone that I’m trying, because I think it might take me a long time with my underlying issues, so it’s so nice to write this down and share...

A bit about me... it’s the first time I’m TTC (think I’ve got that right Grin). I’m 30, and had an operation earlier in May last year to remove mild endometriosis. I also have PCO (lucky me!) but I have a regular 35 day cycle every month, and my gyno confirmed that I ovulate. It was my first month trying last month, and I went totally crazy with research, OPKs, tests that I think I put way to much pressure on the situation. I’ve had a much more relaxed month, and I’m focusing my efforts on the fertility window which I think for me is CD20-25 (very late I know!). I’m currently 3DPO, and using the Premom app, along with clue to track my cycles.

Wishing you all lots of luck!

Oh and a question about a sensitive topic (excuse the pun)... but I was wondering if anyone else has sensitive breasts around ovulation? I never do normally, but I have this cycle, very confusing!

X

FieldView · 26/01/2021 16:22

@Eaststreet I totally understand! CD9 here - last cycle I was full of optimism and excitement but this cycle is a different story. Admittedly it's only cycle 2 but I fully understand the rather overwhelming realisation that this may not be straightforward (or quick!). I think what makes it extra tough is that it's something I don't have complete control over! It doesn't matter how many times I wee on an OPK or how religiously I remember to take the folic acid, it's still a bit out of my hands. Not an easy thing to come to terms with if you're a crazy planner like me!

To add a bit more pressure, I'm hoping to avoid a Christmas/December baby for various reasons (no offence to any Christmas/December babies out there) so I think based on my cycles, if it doesn't happen this month then I'm tapping out until May.

Hoping to see some more BFP's this month to spur me on!!

FieldView · 26/01/2021 16:23

@Dungareesandfreckles and welcome to the group! x

Grace185 · 26/01/2021 18:15

@FieldView I’m the same. We’re not that keen on a Dec / jan so probably wait until May/June to start up again after this cycle

Eaststreet · 26/01/2021 18:54

@FieldView @Grace185 so funny me and OH had the exact same conversation this week. His sister is 24th December and his dad is 1st Jan (in my opinion awful birthdays😂).

I am the same! A crazy planner and it feels so out of my hands, I told myself I would relax this cycle but it’s easier said than done! I think after a few cycles it might be easier but I’ve gone from being so excited to so deflated by it all. Fingers crossed for everyone this cycle !

Dungareesandfreckles · 26/01/2021 18:59

@Eaststreet @FieldView @Grace185 Where are you on your cycles? Good luck to those testing soon! X

Dungareesandfreckles · 26/01/2021 19:05

Thank you, nice to be here!

Grace185 · 26/01/2021 19:07

@Eaststreet yeah I know a few on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, NYE and New Year’s Day and if it happened it would be fine but I’d rather try to avoid. Plus I think about me being a mum having to buy birthday and Christmas presents haha. A February baby would get a lot of presents from the sale 👌 but OH would rather wait for March onwards. Haha yeah I’m the same with the planning. I’m an event manager do my whole life is planning and I can’t control this one 🙄

@Dungareesandfreckles I’m only CD4 on my second cycle. Our approach this time to avoid any stress is dtd every 2-3 days from like the weekend until the end of the cycle so can just focus on fun and def catch the window and beyond. Will make ttw more fun too haha!

Eaststreet · 26/01/2021 19:23

@Dungareesandfreckles hi and welcome 😊
I’m CD6 today. Going to start DTD from maybe Friday. We both have a long weekend off work so hoping I can keep things fun 😂. I am still using the opk’s this month and going to use the clear blue one for the first month too but not telling OH as I think it stresses him out so will just engineer it myself when I know I’m ovulating!
When are you planning on testing ? Will you wait for AF or test early? Also can’t help on the sensitive boobs I’m afraid! I’ve (fortunately) never experienced that with PMS or ovulation.

Dungareesandfreckles · 26/01/2021 19:33

That’s what happened to me! The first month I made it way too stressful giving OH all the details about exactly what my body was doing, and made it WAY too scientific. This month, it was so much better but still did the OPKs in secret haha!

I’m probably just over sensitive too all the feelings in my body, and hoping for symptoms that aren’t really there! I have some tests arriving tomorrow, and whilst I should be waiting till next Friday, I think I’ll cave this weekend... although given all my issues I think it’s unlikely to happen very quickly for me! But I’m remaining positive... sometimes!

@Grace185 - that’s a great way of doing it. I’ve been trying to DTD a couple of times a week before ovulation, and then either every day or every other day during the peak fertile period.

Next month, I think I’ll add taking my temperature to the list of fun operations - does anyone else use this method?

Eaststreet · 26/01/2021 20:02

@Dungareesandfreckles yess I agree it all got a bit much for my OH I think! He literally didn’t have a clue how any of it worked before we started. I think I turned it into what sounded like a science experiment rather than having fun with it 😂. Although he didn’t complain I could tell he was a bit bamboozled by it all.
100% still going to do the opk’s, mainly because they make me feel like I have some sort of control just by doing them everyday.

Ah yes you need to try to remain positive. This thread does help so much as there is always someone who can relate when you’re feeling a bit down or overwhelmed and of course great to share in the good news of the BFP’s and spurs you on a bit!

I haven’t done the temperate thing, not sure I will it seems a bit technical and I have avoided looking into it yet as I was so overwhelmed with everything at the beginning. But I might read up on it.

Grace185 · 26/01/2021 20:32

I’m the same ladies, oh said I was milking him like a cow last month haha. I just said let’s do it a lot over the next three weeks and try and catch it and he’s happy with that. Then we’ll have a few months off to avoid December/January.

I really do think I may have had a chemical pg last month as I felt so different in the run up to af and then af was STRANGE. TMI, but very very clotty and the cramps on the first day were unreal. Put it down to me never knowing and I’d it was it can be seen as a good thing as at least his swimmers found my egg :)

now to wait for af to bugged off and have some fun!

BubblesNSnuggles · 27/01/2021 07:13

@Hallie91 I’ve no idea - I’m just trying to make it through each day without testing 😂 I want to leave it as late as possible but it think my Friday (7/8 dpo) the temptation will start so maybe Saturday or Sunday.
I’ve done really well this week not thinking too much about it so hopefully I can last 😬
