Please help! Positive OPK then negative 5 hours later?

Hi,

Hope you can help! Feeling a bit confused/disheartened. I'm using One Step OPKs and have been taking them since CD6 - not peeing for 4 hours before a test and taking them between 1-3 every day. Negatives for 6 days and then today at CD13 got a positive at 2pm. Took another tonight just for curiosity and it's negative?

Does that mean we're too late to DTD tonight?

I lost my wee boy at 18 weeks, his due date is on Wednesday and sometimes can't believe I'm actually back trying to figure all this out...you'd think I'd be clued up on it all by now, haha. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks :)

@Hmmm22 Well day 8 so the start of another cycle for me! What day are you on now? Haha it totally is! I remember when I fell pregnant with our wee boy initially being so relieved to be able just to pee without collecting and testing it 😂 Fingers crossed for us both this month 🤞How you doing? xx

@KerryW87 I'm day 12 and had my positive OPK today! Been feeling pretty grumpy about it all to be honest, but much more positive now that we've got another chance to try again. Glad you're doing ok, and only a few days behind me so we can get through it together haha! Xx

@Hmmm22 Ahh great! Won't be long until you're on the TWW then, it is such a drag but also it does come back around quickly which is a good thing!

I know how you feel, going into the new year upset me a bit. I think just realising it's now "last year" we lost our baby and last year since we started trying again, but got to try and shake it off and stay positive!

@KerryW87 I think I officially ovulated today, so the TWW begins!! Still going to dtd tomorrow, skip a day then do the last day this time. Can't be having any regrets again haha. I wonder if your peak will last a bit longer this cycle! Xx

Definitely, I'll do the same this cycle and stick to the exact plan, don't want to chance it just incase haha. I know, I thought that too! Will definitely keep testing past my peak on the off chance I have a second one (hopefully not though!) xx

@Hmmm22 I'm day 11 now! Still no positive OPK yet but we covered day 8 and 10, we were watching tv last night and my partner turned to me and was like "SMEP the night, aye?" 😂😂 This is what it's turned us into, haha.

@KerryW87 hahahaha! Mine said the other night 'turned into a bit of a chore this isn't it?' The joys of TTC. Fingers crossed you get your positive OPK over the next few days.

I'm good thank you, one last go tomorrow and then that'll be it for SMEP this time. My OPK's have dropped back to low so I've definitely ovulated I'd have thought now. Also, pre-seed is pretty rank isn't it? Xx

@Hmmm22 Hahaha it's funny, the first time around I tried to hide a lot of the TTC jargon from him to try and "keep some mystery" but after our loss he's a full-on expert as well, both a couple of nutcases with it 😂😂 Thanks, I'm just out of work and have been feeling cramps all morning so hopefully it'll be soon, heading straight home to test!

Haha aye it's not great, definitely don't do what I did and use too much the first time, it was awful 😂 the NOISES 😂😂🙈 I only use 1g of it now!

@KerryW87 hahaha least he is just as invested in the cause. Makes it a lot easier having them on board with all the mad old wives tales that are about haha.

It's the smell of it which I think I might hate the most. I used applicators and I think they had like 4g in it? I mean anything for the cause but never again after I graduate SMEP haha! Xx

@Hmmm22 Well just tested and still negative but the cramps are very much here so hoping it'll maybe be tomorrow! I know, hopefully we're not too far off one another in the TWW!

Ahh I know the ones you mean, I got the tube of it with the syringes? It says to use 3g but it was awful so 4 must be a total riot! 😂😫 1 or 1.5 seems to be fine though so I'm ok with that if it's going to help. Hahaha exactly, putting in that extra effort 😂👩‍🎓 but yeah NEVER using it afterwards! xx

@KerryW87 fingers crossed for a positive today! I always find it so exciting getting a peak on the OPK. Makes you think what has life come to that I'm excited about a dark line on a stick I've just dipped in pee 😂😂 xx

@Hmmm22 Think it's aaaalmost there? Took this at 1, going to take another one after 5 if I can hold out and see if it gets any darker!

Hahaha I know, if someone told my teenage self that one day my daily life would be dictated by peeing on sticks I would be confused and disappointed....but 33 year old me is totally cool with it now 😂😂

At least after today you can say you successfully completed a textbook SMEP...and then hopefully that's done it! 🤞

I read something on a thread yesterday about slicing a pineapple into like 6 slices and eating a slice (including the core) for 6 days after ovulation to help with implantation and thought "that sounds insane" but also thought "F*#k it I'll probably buy a pineapple just incase" 😂😂

@KerryW87 oh it's definitely getting there! Do you use any apps to interpret the %?

Hahahaha to the pineapple thing! I've missed the boat with that one, but there's always next month 🤣 I do love the mad things that are suggested whilst TTC! Xx

@Hmmm22 I tried one called Premom but when I used it I had a blazing positive around when I'd usually ovulate too and it said it was "low" so it totally threw me off! 🙄 Do you use one?

The one from 5pm is much the same really! Will test tomorrow and see if it gets darker, and if it drops I'll take it as my peak but keep testing every day just incase!

Hahaha I know, here's hoping you won't need a pineapple next month! 🤞❤️ I'll let you know how I get on with chomping on pineapple cores later in the week 😂😂 xx

@KerryW87 the other one is use is Fomometer.

It might be because those tests look quite pale in comparison to some OPK's. The ones I use go quite dark (like the control line) but I have used that brand you're using and they looked the same as what yours do. Try Femometer as I think Premom bases it on their brand of OPK's.

@KerryW87 didn't try that OPK brand ever, but the color of both TC lines are quite faint. Maybe it is difficult for the app to read. Have you uploaded the test strips under the Other tab? It might be more accurate if you use the corresponding tab.

Yeah I'm feeling fine actually, other cycles I've had a lot of right sided pelvic pain / pain by my hip, but I haven't had anything. I've had 0 symptoms! So I'm trying to symptom spot but there's nothing to spot currently haha! Xx

Hi gals hoping I can join in on this thread as OPKs are currently driving me crazy 😂 my cycle varies from 25-29 days. Using clearblue digital tests and Femometer cheapies in between. Started testing CD9 and haven’t had a sniff of a smiley face yet even flashing! CD16 today and have sore boobs etc like usually ovulation but it’s driving me nuts! Internet strips did show high LH yesterday. Anyone used clearblue ones?

@Brightspark12 hello, yeah I use OPK's the same way as you do, so internet cheapies and then clear blue to confirm. I use to the ones which only show a static smiley though.

What time are you testing? I usually try to test at 1pm and 5pm. I once had a high in the morning and thought it was because I was ovulating but clear blue was negative.

Fingers crossed you get your peak soon, you must be going mad having to pee in a cup for the last week waiting for your peak! Xx

@Brightspark12 I just checked my clear blue one and yeah it does say to use anytime. I think the internet cheapies you're meant to use in the PM because your LH surge happens in the morning and the hormones don't reach your urine until the afternoon, but the clearblue is probably more sensitive whatever time.

I got my peak a couple of days ago but I saw a surge the day before 🙂 this was late afternoon xx
