Please help! Positive OPK then negative 5 hours later?

Hi,

Hope you can help! Feeling a bit confused/disheartened. I'm using One Step OPKs and have been taking them since CD6 - not peeing for 4 hours before a test and taking them between 1-3 every day. Negatives for 6 days and then today at CD13 got a positive at 2pm. Took another tonight just for curiosity and it's negative?

Does that mean we're too late to DTD tonight?

I lost my wee boy at 18 weeks, his due date is on Wednesday and sometimes can't believe I'm actually back trying to figure all this out...you'd think I'd be clued up on it all by now, haha. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks :)

@Hmmm22 Ahh that's amazing! How many DPO were you when you tested? Surely a line is a line so I have everything crossed for you! 🤞💕 Exciting! I'm ok, 8DPO and cramping like I normally do before AF so trying to keep my hopes safely at bay, haha xx

@KerryW87 10! But then I could've only been 9, it's a tricky one isn't it haha! I'm going to retest tomorrow 🤞🏻I haven't got any AF symptoms but I didn't really expect it last time, it just appeared haha.

Oh so you've got a couple of days to go, when do you plan on testing? Hoping you get good news! Xx

@Hmmm22 Ah I know, you wish you could know EXACTLY when you ovulated 😂 Ah this is so exciting, if it was a faint line at 10DPO then I'd say that's late enough on surely for it to be quite reliable? Let me know when you retest! 💕

I'm on another thread and so many of the woman have gotten BFPs now I'm thinking statistically it must mean I'm out, haha. Wish I could ignore the total desperation, haha 🙈 Ill be 10DPO on Christmas Eve so think I'll test then and then every day after until AF shows haha xx

I'm debating whether to go for it and test tomorrow or just wait for AF to rear its ugly head. I've been sooo emotional, which isn't really like me but not surprising given the current state of the world, so not sure if a negative would tip me over the edge!

Yeah that's a good plan. Have you had any other symptoms other than cramping? Xx

Ah bless you, that could be a sign? But yeah, it's just such an emotional time anyway and then with trying to manage your expectations but also desperately hoping and testing...it can totally throw your day off! ❤️ Whatever you decide to do I've got my fingers crossed! Hopefully it's a good clear BFP and then I'll just hope to catch some of your good vibes haha xx

@Hmmm22 Also no, just cramping which is getting stronger as the days pass which is a typical PMS symptom for me so I'm really trying to be realistic. So desperate to be one of those women who was "sure they were out" and ended up pregnant, though 😂🤞

@KerryW87 still nothing today so I think I'm officially out this month! So hopefully statistically that means it's your month to get a BFP! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

@Hmmm22 Aww I'm so sorry! 💔 How gutting, I think I'll be joining you as I tested today at 10DPO and it was as blank as you could get. We'll both maybe need to try this final day on the SMEP plan after all, haha. Make sure you have plenty Christmas booze and party food to make up for it ❤️❤️ I know I will be too! xx

@Hmmm22 I used the wee cheap internet ones, managed to get my BFP on them no problem with my wee boy this year so hoping they're reliable enough! Aw thank you, you just wish you could know either way to save all the emotions, haha. I'll keep you updated tomorrow, hope you're having a good Christmas Eve! ❤️

@Hmmm22 Aw thank you, merry Christmas and same to you, hope you're having a nice day? ❤️ Currently in my jammies cooking a very late Christmas dinner, but this year it seems everyone's Christmas a bit more relaxed, haha.

I know, I bet today would have been hard for you :( I feel the same too. Yeah, 11DPO and stark white BFN and constant cramps so there isn't a hope in hell. We can keep each other going for next cycle! 🤞❤️

@Hmmm22 Aw I know, sorry you were having a crap day :( It definitely feels as though it's happening for everyone else, doesn't it? And people telling you "it'll happen when it's right" might be logical but doesn't help when you're in it!

I had a pretty emotional day - experienced my first ever EVAP line which had me absolutely up to a hundred thinking it might be positive, and then AF arrived this morning so back down to earth with a bump 😂

Looks like we'll both be putting in that final day this cycle then! Haha. Fingers crossed this is the month for us both 🤞 xx

@KerryW87 oh god bless you, what brand was the Evap line on??

I will definitely be doing the last day haha. I'm also going to continue doing OPK's, last time I just stopped after I got my first peak. I have also gone wild and brought some Conceive Plus pre-seed! I've never used anything like that in my life haha but I decided it's worth a shot! Xx

@Hmmm22 The one step ones, which are all I use! Never had one once when we were trying for our wee boy and that was 5 months I used them for, that cycle there was our 5th cycle too and the first time I've ever had one. Made myself actually sick with nerves, couldn't eat my dinner and then it was game over this morning, haha. Feel a bit crap but glad at least I know and can move onto the next cycle.

Haha definitely, we can keep each other right with reminders to dedicate to the strict days 😂😂 Ah I have Preseed too, used it when we fell last time so pretty sure it's quite good! Can't do any harm anyway, haha. Here's hoping it works for you! 🤞 xx

@KerryW87 how are you feeling now? Least AF showed up quite quickly so you wasn't feeling anxious for too long!

TTC is just a whole lot of waiting isn't it haha. Waiting for ovulation and then waiting for AF! Xx

@KerryW87 yeah I will be as well haha, I'm cycle day 8 on Wednesday so the fun starts again! Hopefully we ovulate at similar times this month too so we can ride out the TWW together again.

I'm feeling ok, just impatient. It's a daunting thought that this could potentially be my life now for years and really feel for the girls out there who are years in! But as long as I'm ticking all the boxes TTC boxes then what more can I do haha xx

@Hmmm22 Haha yep, it's like deja vu every month isn't it? I'm only on day 2, our TWW will likely overlap...here for mutual support and symptom spotting anyway! 😂

Aw I know, totally natural for you to feel like that :( I know I was pregnant for 4.5 months in between but it's been 14 months now since we first started and it's draining. It can definitely feel like everyone around you is falling pregnant. It's the not knowing every month! We just need to remember that for most it will happen within a year, so we'll get there ❤️ Ticking every SMEP/old wives take box should do the trick, haha xx

@KerryW87 first day of SMEP for us today, so it's officially time to start trying again this cycle. What cycle day did you ovulate last cycle?? Xx

@Hmmm22 Also I got my positive OPK on day 13 last cycle so likely ovulated day 14? The cycle before that though it was 11! So I'll be testing from 8 just to make sure! xx

@KerryW87 yeah I'm feeling fine, I got my peak on cycle day 12 last time so I'm thinking I'll get it again in the next couple of days as I'm CD 9 today. Ordered a 50 pack of OPK's but I'm hoping I don't need to use them all haha! TTC is just basically dipping sticks into a pot of pee isn't it?
