Sybil - you are funny - "around 16 June" - do you have an EDT (estimated due time) I always thought giving birth at lunchtime would be nice so that you could be home in time for tea

Gilly - yay - lets start a knitting thread!

toomuchtimeonline · 10/10/2007 11:37

ha ha sybil the scarf lady!

I haven't really tested my abilities so I may have to join you as too much the holey piece of square knitting lady

PiggyPenguin · 10/10/2007 11:41

re edt, I always (well last two times!) start labour in late evening. 1st time took 30 hours so delivered early morning two days later, second took eight hours so delivered slightly later in morning next day. I am therefore confidently predicting a late evening start to labour and hopefully (please god) a slightly later evening or very early next morning birth.

See, I haven't thought about this at all hardly yet have I?

toomuchtimeonline · 10/10/2007 12:01

Sounds like you have it all sussed

Sounds like a plan Gilly..

I knitted a lovely yellow cardi and hat and mittens - which ds did wear, including on way home from hospital .

Sybil - hats too big???? I don't think so! We always have to buy at least one size bigger, and have problems with some jumpers and tshirts as the neck is narrow (I wish you could still get envelope tops to fit - makes getting on easier)

Having April baby, we did need jackets/ cardis etc, but vests and sleepsuits most required items. I was remarkably good and only bought essentials (vest and sleepsuits) and knitted one jacket and relied on hand-me downs (some never used) and gifts. About the only significant purchase I made early on was shorts dungarees and matching shirt to wear once he'd had his Christening robe taken off (before it got too dirty).

Have you shopaholics checked out the 'babybanz' site? You'll go weak at the knees! We made lots of heads turn going round in buggy at under 1 with snazzy sunglasses on!

shoesarefab · 10/10/2007 13:24

I am going to be in Dubai until end of Jan at least and will defo be there over xmas - flights back are to pricey!

toomuchtimeonline · 10/10/2007 13:36

MT that is so good - actually knitting stuff and having it done on time for bringing the baby home! I am very impressed!

shoesarefab · 10/10/2007 13:41

mistlethrush - talking of buggies i've been looking everywhere online for a leopard print or gold one. lol

shoesarefab · 10/10/2007 13:50

Can't help on leopard print buggy, but ds did have a leopard print wrap for his washable nappy (always smiled when I sent him in it to nursery!)

mistlethrush · 10/10/2007 16:38

sybil - could be like me - start 4am, go into hosp 1pm, put onto syncotin 7pm, emergency section following day at 12.00 (not much of an emergency - nothing to panic about, but no baby appearing...) Good time eventually, but could have done without quite so much run-up to the event...

mistlethrush · 10/10/2007 16:41

www.esunproof.co.uk/idx/idx-head-img/babybanz.html - try this for cool site!

Love the debbie bliss books - her stuff is so cute I'm not a very good knitter - I started a scarf once (read about 20 years ago) - it's still only about 15 rows long and still (I think) in my Mum's embroidery box But I'm willing to try again with you guys
