Just thought I would start a new thread for everyone about to enter into their fertile window for this month so we can chat (then go crazy in TWW together! 🤣)

Love catching up with the bigger threads but everyone is at different stages so will be nice to have a small group of us here.

I am 29, OH is 31 and we are now on cycle 3 of TTC first baby. CD10 today and FW starts tomorrow. Ovulation predicted as Thursday-Saturday depending on which app I go off.

I will be attempting to track CM, using OPKs since yesterday and also BBT wherever I can to get a clearer picture!

Mine isn’t always correct either! I can be a couple of days either side of what my apps say!
Yes we’re doing opks too. Mine seem to go from really light one day to blazing positive the next day so I’m probably going to test twice a day from tomorrow to make sure I catch it x

Lori23 · 17/05/2020 00:21

Yea good idea. I got a darker line the day before which was weird then today it was really faint, I thought they were meant to get darker every day not fluctuate! Confused I think quite a few months we haven't BD at the right times as I've been confused at when I've ovulated.. just trying to read my body each month too. Hope it's all our months 🤞 will speak to the doctor once it's been a year xx

musiceverywhere · 17/05/2020 00:37

Can I join? Not quite in same situation as we l cant TTC this month, but as I've just had the lUD removed a couple of days ago I was hoping to do OPK this cycle to see what's happening (AF day 6 now...Hmm- maybe due to coil removal?)
I'm 39 with DD (6) and DH literally just agreed a week ago to try for DC2! So feeling the clock ticking for us, but trying to stay positive. Will be asking for OPK advice probably (if period ever finishes Confused)

musiceverywhere · 17/05/2020 00:39

I was hoping to use Clear Blue digital but don't want to waste tests ££- is there any point in checking for ovulation if still bleeding (as not sure if due to coil or AF?) 🤷🏻‍♀️ My app says test from Monday.

IndigoJam · 17/05/2020 06:08

Hi,, I'm 32 and trying for 2nd baby. 5 months trying, first time using Clearblue ovulation test. I got a static smile face on cd12. Does the face go away after 48 hours? The instructions say not to use the same holder again but ive seen others say they do... any suggestions on what's best?

And has anyone tested after the smiley face? Should I do that or should I stop?

Em994 · 17/05/2020 07:36

Is anyones partners taking any vitamins aswell? I bought my OH some what do you all think to mens vitamins? I did my research on whats best for fertility. I'm taking the advised folic acid, vit D, vit C. I've also heard COQ10 like @Ltay2 mentioned is good for fertility aswell. I use fitbit to track my period and ovulation but not sure if its very accurate x

Ltay2 · 17/05/2020 08:05

@Em994 OH isn't taking any vitamins at the moment, we might give some a go if it doesn't work out this month. Don't want to add to the pressure by introducing vitamins too early as I feel it will make him think there's something 'wrong' that he has to supplement for!

OP posts:
musiceverywhere · 17/05/2020 09:19

Oh do they? That's interesting- I wonder if that's right as I was just going to go by instructions to use once but they're so expensive! Will google!
I think once you've had the static smiley, that's the peak and not to carry on testing.
I think I'm going to have problems tbh, not even sure if I'm still ovulating at my old age Sad

LS2020 · 17/05/2020 09:22

@Ltay2 ooh I haven’t heard of the Zita West one but similar just started COQ10 and Vit D this cycle, I had only just been taking a normal vitamin tablet (one without Vit A in). I’ve seen a lot of people mention Angus Castus about lengthening cycles - mine are only about 27 days but pretty regular so not sure if it’ll make a difference?

@JoesM12 yes, I think it was called the Fertility hormone check. It was quite thorough, did LH, FSH, oestrogen, testosterone and thyroid I think. A GP gives you advice on your lifestyle which was quite useful too.
I know it’s so frustrating waiting, makes me wonder why I spent 10 years trying not to get pregnant when it’s this hard to do!! I’m a bit annoyed at myself getting so stressed about it as the reason we started last year is because we have two friends who both took over a year to get pregnant and while we didn’t want kids immediately, it was in the 1-2 year plan so this is why we started but it still feels frustrating even knowing that.

@Em994 my OH started taking the seven seas perfect men tablets about two months ago and he seems to like them, partly from feeling like he’s doing something to help. I’ve seen a lot of stuff about taking large doses of zinc but then also seen that too much can be bad for him so I haven’t encouraged him to take anything more. Felt an idea to be able to leave something for down the line as well if we don’t conceive!

LS2020 · 17/05/2020 09:26

@IndigoJam I stop using them once I get the smiley face. I’m doing the SMEP so that says DTD the next 3 days from that so don’t bother with needing to know I guess!

@musiceverywhere I use a website called zoom baby (use zoom15 for 15% off), to get internet cheapies both OPK and tests and they are so much clearer. My advice would be pay for 1 month of CB and get a bag of cheapies, run them side by side as cheapies are harder to read so you know what to look out for, and then you can just that going forward if you want to use OPKs. Otherwise you could try various calendar/bbt methods I know others like to use Smile

musiceverywhere · 17/05/2020 09:48

@LS2020 thanks for tip, will look into it!
I haven't mentioned Vitamins etc to OH- it took 6 years to convince him to try for DC2, so I'm keeping his involvement as minimal as possible so as not to put him off! Grin

musiceverywhere · 17/05/2020 09:52

@LS2020 if you don't mind my asking, how much were the private blood tests?

Ltay2 · 17/05/2020 10:00

@LS2020 The Zita west ones are some fatty acids I think, I've lost track of what I'm taking and why but I definitely researched them all throughly first! I'm definitely going to suggest vitamins to OH next month if we don't get BFP this time, I think it would be nice for him to feel like he's doing something other than deposit sperm 😂

Ltay2 · 17/05/2020 10:03

If using IC's and not sure what you're reading then Fermometer app has an intelligent recognition section that reads a photo of your IC test and tells you whether it's low positive or peak!

OP posts:
LS2020 · 17/05/2020 10:29

@musiceverywhere sorry meant to say the cheap OPK are cheaper, not clearer! But they aren’t too hard to read I don’t think.
TBH I looked at zinc rich foods which I heard was the main thing for men and we ate a lot anyway so you could always try changing dinner up In the first instance?
The test was £79 but if you don’t end up taking, they’ll refund £72. It’s a bit expensive but I weighed up as had been looking at Ava and those cups which all seemed to be in £100+ bracket and thought there’s no point in spending that much if I get a year down the line and get tests done and I’ve spent £200 on stuff that wasn’t going to have worked. Plus now I’ve gone the other way and know everything’s fine so why do I need any of it?

@Ltay2 yeah I think that’s where my OH got to, saw me rattling like a pill bottle and testing every drop of urine and wanted to feel like he was helping something more than just getting off haha
Ooh that’s interesting, I might give it a go, my OPKS barely show anything and then suddenly have a bold blue line but would be nice to see when it thinks it’s a low positive

musiceverywhere · 17/05/2020 10:40

@LS2020 that's do-able for me. I think at my age, having already had one ovary removed due to a cyst Sad and a not great uterine lining leading to awful menorhaggia (prior to IUD) I think our chances are slim, so bloods would be helpful to rule out anything basic. Sooner we consult a Dr the better (if needed)

LS2020 · 17/05/2020 10:52

@musiceverywhere the test has to be done day 2/3 of your period so I would encourage to try let your cycles normalise after coming off before doing the test as you don’t want a false reading. I’ve actually heard that your fertility can actually peak after coming off contraception so I would deffo keep up with DTD and have fingers crossed for you. Maybe give your body 2/3 months to get back to normal, do the test and then you’ve only got 3 months til you can go to GP?
Let’s get checked.com do a progesterone test for £69 which tells you if you ovulated, while not much can be done about it at that point, again may be helpful in a month or two if you think things are regulating?

CEW19 · 17/05/2020 12:09

Hey 👋🏼 32 and TTC first baby. Hubby and I both started taking boots his&hers conception vitamins when I came off the pill in October but didn’t start actually trying until March. Currently CD10, not tracking ovulation or anything just planning on DTD every other day until AF! Had initially been using Fitbit to track fertile week and only having sex in that week, but that may be off so going a different route this month. Really don’t want to start tracking ovulation and temp, think it would stress me out too much! Hate the fact that I have no control over what is happening, anyone else?

JoesM12 · 17/05/2020 12:46

@Lori23 there’s so much to consider with the right timings etc isn’t there. I think tracking ovulation etc of course helps but i think it’s also down to just pit puck a lot of the time! Fingers crossed 🤞

@IndigoJam I used the clearblue ones for about a month along side some cheap easy @ home ones from amazon and they matched up. I also used the same holder as I read you were meant to. I’ve stopped using them now because they’re quite pricey and I was getting the same results from the cheaper ones!

I was taking pregnacare pretnatals but recently switched to just folic acid, iron and Vitamin D.

Hey @cew19
You’re probably best doing it that way and just dtd throughout the month. I’ve found once you started tracking you can’t stop haha! It is really hard not knowing when things will happen. I’m just trying to be hopeful that it will happen soon x

Lori23 · 17/05/2020 13:29

Hey @CEW19 I'll be 32 next months. We are also taking the boots his and hers! I am doing OPK and BBT but I still feel like I'm not getting it right each month! I hate the fact we have no control, and even if you do it at the right time the % of pregnancy is relatively low. I've learnt to just try not to let the stress get the better of you! This is our 10th cycle xx

Whilstwewait · 17/05/2020 18:06

Hi everyone.

Hoping i can join. Just started my fertile week due to ovulate on Wednesday. Ive ovulated same day last 6 cycles but tried soy isolvones this cycle so worried it may change it slightly. This is cycle 11 since getting married last May. Its our wedding anniversary next week. I really thought we would have a baby or be pregnant by now. So feel quite sad. I've had tests done and im ovulating and DH has super sperm so really can't understand why its not happening. We have been referred for fertility just before lockdown because in 34. Doctor said if i was younger they would just tell us to keep trying.

For anyone looking for supplements for their other half my husband takes conceive plus then a seperate vitamin c tablet. They contain everything that was recommend by the nhs before his sperm sample. I know we arent pregnant yet but he was way above what was considered normal. xx

musiceverywhere · 17/05/2020 22:08

Hi@Whilstwewait it's so frustrating isn't it, watching every month go by. It's good that you're speaking to a Dr though. We conceived DD after only 3 months and now 6 yrs later (and older!) I can see such a long road ahead of us. But have to try and think positive! Still AF ongoing here though.... Angry

jaxs23 · 18/05/2020 05:58

Hi everyone.
Started FW this week. CD 12 and ov on thursday according to apps. I'm 34 TTC baby #1. This is cycle 6 for me. Had a CP last month and made me want to get a sticky bean even more.
I am using IC opks and bbt tracking. Also doing the SMEP. Have started doing fertility massages and fertility yoga.
The tww is hard, but the waiting to ov is a close second for me.

Em994 · 18/05/2020 07:17

@jaxs23 what does CP mean? I'm sorry I'm trying to get used to what these abbreviations mean. I even googled it but came up with alsorts haha. How often are you having your fertility massages and when are you doing your yoga ?

@Whilstwewait happy wedding anniversary for next week! All the tests you have had sound very positive its just a waiting game which is so annoying!!!

@Lori23 deffinatley don't let stress get to you, your right but its so hard not stressing when you want something so much.

Has anyone tried a specific diet whilst trying ttc ? I've heard there's things that can boost your fertility ? Xx

jaxs23 · 18/05/2020 14:05

@Em994 Chemical pregnancy. New to the TTC comunity as well and it took a little time getting familiar with all the abbreviations as well.
