Hi might be a bit of a long one but I’m just so confused. We have been TTC#1 for 2.5years now. I have always used one step 10miu internet cheapie pregnancy tests but this month I ordered some different ones which are Clinical Guard ones and are supposedly 20miu.

I track ovulation on the Fertility Friend app and put my temps on there daily and also when I’ve had positive opk’s. The app has put ovulation as the 10th of Feb.

So because I hadn’t used this new brand of cheapies before I took one test on 4dpo and 5dpo with FMU, I knew they would obviously be negative but just wanted to see if they were bad for evaps etc so I didn’t get my hopes up nearer the time of testing. These were both white negative.

6DPO yesterday so I took another cheapie with FMU again and thought nothing of it, until it came up with a light but very clear pink 2nd line. I was completely shocked so kept taking them throughout the day yesterday but they all came back negative. So obviously I thought that one yesterday morning was either a severely bad evap or a dodgy test. So this morning with FMU I dipped three of them instead of the one, and all three have come back with a clear pink line, one is fainter than the other two, and those two are darker than yesterday’s.

Now I really don’t know what to believe we have been trying for 2.5years and I just feel like these tests have me more confused than ever, anyone been through the same please?

Thank you if you managed to read this far sorry it’s long x

Congratulations! Thanks

Ignore the darkness of the line. That doesn't mean anything. A positive test with FMU is definitely good news. Especially now you've got 4 positive tests!

Jessie9323 · 17/02/2020 20:37

To give yourself a rest and some piece of mind I would not test with anything other than fmu. I would also leave it for a couple of days before you test again. If the cheapie comes back positive then I would go out and buy a more expensive test. Keep hold of the same fmu and test that with the expensive test. I myself have never had an issue with cheapies that I purchased off of eBay.

Jessie9323 · 17/02/2020 20:38

Also fingers crossed for you!

milly26x · 17/02/2020 20:41

Thank you I’m just getting worried because I’ll have positives with FMU and then not the rest of the day :( this mornings tests were darker than yesterday mornings but all are very visible and definitely pink, which is why I can’t understand why the PM ones are negative unless it’s because it’s early I’m 7DPO. Strange Hmm

Any news op? Fingers crossed for you

milly26x · 19/02/2020 17:10

I don’t think it’s great news tbh, I’ve had 6 more positives just now with the internet cheapies, but bfn on frer. My hopes aren’t up anymore there’s clearly something wrong with all these tests I’ve had 22 strong positives on the cheapies over the past four days it’s just awful. Thank you for checking in though :) x

Hey @milly26x
It sounds so much like me 😏
I had ovulation around 12th of February, been trying for over 2 years now for our 1st.
I had strong positive yesterday morning, bfn evening, same today.
I'd say frer isn't as sensitive, I think it's about 25miu, so there's still hope for us.
Also morning time urine would be a lot more concentrated and more likely to pick up hcg.
Fingers crossed xx

milly26x · 19/02/2020 17:44

Aww I hope this is a true positive for you! Fingers crossed lovely. I’ve been getting positives in the afternoons too which is confusing me even more, 12 yesterday evening after a 3.5hr hold, and 7 this evening after a 1.5hr hold. There has got to be something wrong with my cheapies as I’m not getting positives on frer so frustrating. I’ve just dipped two cheapies in plain water to see if the lines showed and if they’re all false but the two I’ve dipped in water haven’t got a positive line so no idea now. My internet cheapies are different to yours mine have a pink handle with hcg on it so don’t worry I’m sure yours is real fingers crossed for you! I can’t post a photo of mine just yet as I had to make a new account 2 days ago lost the password to my old one xx

Don't worry hun, I'm sure u can trust them, once u have so many positives already.
I'm sure ur still in x
How many dpo are u?

Peggy91 · 19/02/2020 18:17

Hi OP

Fingers crossed for you!
I will be testing around then also as will be around 10dpo.
I hope it's good news for us all xx

Peggy91 · 19/02/2020 18:18

Sorry I commented on the wrong post 🙈

Jessie9323 · 19/02/2020 18:40

I'm still hoping you are in ThanksThanks

Jessie9323 · 19/02/2020 18:44

I just read a post that said that frer tests although accurate work best on the day of your supposed missed period. But before that they can take 24 hours to come up with a darker line. I'm not trying to give you false hope but it just seems odd to have a full bad batch of cheapies!

milly26x · 19/02/2020 18:46

I’m 9DPO today it’s just horrible not being able to be excited and happy about all these positives because they’re only on the internet cheapies and ones that claim to be more sensitive are bfn it’s so stressful! Really needed to know if I am ASAP because of work but will just have to see how things go, period is due either Saturday or Sunday.

I’ll try and upload my tests in a few hours when I should be able to upload them so you can let me know what you think lol xx

Yeah you just see everyone with their lines on frer tests! So confusing. I dipped two of the cheapies in water earlier and they didn’t come up positive thank god lol gives me a glimmer of hope haha x

These are my photos of some of my “positives” from the last 4 days. I’ve literally had 24 “positives” now. The first photo is three photos I put together. So confusingggg

They look very clear positives - I’m not sure it’s time to lose hope yet.

northnorth · 19/02/2020 20:38

milly26x those are VERY positive. I don’t think you can doubt that many positives BUT at 9 DPO it’s super early to be testing. If you can, maybe wait till a missed period until you test again. I hope you get your answer very soon xxxx

milly26x · 19/02/2020 20:50

Yeah I know it’s still very early, it’s because I had never brought this brand of cheapies before and I’ve had evap lines with other brands in the past, so I took one on 4dpo and 5dpo and I knew they wouldn’t be positive so I could see if this brand gives evaps so I wouldn’t get my hopes up at 12dpo if you know what I mean, but then when I took one 6DPO that’s when these positives have all been happening. It’s just hard because with my work I need to find out and tell the management ASAP because of risks but now I’ve had 4 days of wondering anyway lol x

Jessie9323 · 19/02/2020 22:15

I don't think they are dodgy tests to be honest! They look exactly like mine did early. I took a clear blue digital to be sure.
I understand your issue with work, I'm an installer with a big industrial company so have to have risk assessments straight away!

Christmastree43 · 19/02/2020 22:20

Good luck OP! Keeping my fingers crossed for you Smile x

justdeckingthehalls1 · 19/02/2020 22:38

6DPO (if you're sure if your dates) does seem very early. It would make me distrustful.

However, I wouldn't expect a positive FRER til around 12DPO at the earliest for most.

If they are accurate at 6DPO way before a FRER you can expect the whole of Mumsnet to be asking for the link so they can get some too! 😆

Good luck

MummyNWife · 19/02/2020 22:39

They look positive to me, fingers crossed in a couple of days you'll get a positive on another brand of test.

Smellbellina · 19/02/2020 22:43

I thought they always recommend you test in the morning because the hormone (or what ever it is) concentrates in your urine over night, so a positive in the am and a negative in the pm would be quite normal especially this early on? Have you had any negative first wee of the morning ones?
