Hi might be a bit of a long one but I’m just so confused. We have been TTC#1 for 2.5years now. I have always used one step 10miu internet cheapie pregnancy tests but this month I ordered some different ones which are Clinical Guard ones and are supposedly 20miu.

I track ovulation on the Fertility Friend app and put my temps on there daily and also when I’ve had positive opk’s. The app has put ovulation as the 10th of Feb.

So because I hadn’t used this new brand of cheapies before I took one test on 4dpo and 5dpo with FMU, I knew they would obviously be negative but just wanted to see if they were bad for evaps etc so I didn’t get my hopes up nearer the time of testing. These were both white negative.

6DPO yesterday so I took another cheapie with FMU again and thought nothing of it, until it came up with a light but very clear pink 2nd line. I was completely shocked so kept taking them throughout the day yesterday but they all came back negative. So obviously I thought that one yesterday morning was either a severely bad evap or a dodgy test. So this morning with FMU I dipped three of them instead of the one, and all three have come back with a clear pink line, one is fainter than the other two, and those two are darker than yesterday’s.

Now I really don’t know what to believe we have been trying for 2.5years and I just feel like these tests have me more confused than ever, anyone been through the same please?

Thank you if you managed to read this far sorry it’s long x

I'd get my husband to dip one to see if it's a dodgy batch. Good luck OP!

milly26x · 20/02/2020 18:45

Still stuck in the same position I have been for a few days now attached a photo of the three tests I’ve just taken at 6pm after a 2 hour hold. 10DPO now. Haven’t taken any other tests as I’ve made myself promise I won’t go keep buying tests until period is due haha

BFP in mornings, BFN in afternoon/evenings helppp!

If you've tested strips on someone definitely not pregnant then there doesn't seem much doubt!

wannabemummy123 · 21/02/2020 05:31

Buy a FRER for sure xx

Jessie9323 · 21/02/2020 07:43

Is it the weekend you are due? I'd get a clear clue digital! That picked mine up early. My second was a surprise when my son was 6 months old 🙈. Now 27 weeks

HBThree · 21/02/2020 09:45

I don't get what the issue is Confused

You're clearly pregnant. Why are you doing nay more tests?

bernardswatchplease · 21/02/2020 09:49

I'm also confused you've posted numerous pics of positive pregnancy tests. If you really don't trust them but a FRER?
Not sure what the issue is....

milly26x · 21/02/2020 18:28

Woah why the rude comments? If you don’t like what I’m posting there is not reason you can’t just scroll past and not leave a rude comment? FYI I’ve been trying for 2.5years so to suddenly get “positives” on a load of tests but negatives on others it’s very confusing, sorry if you “don’t know what my issue is” but we are all different and feel things differently. I’ve never had children before so yes it’s confusing for me to be getting positives on some and negatives on others. I’m not “clearly pregnant” if I’m getting negatives on FRER.

Didn’t know it was such a crime to comment on a conception board about trying to conceive.

Jessie9323 · 21/02/2020 18:40

Ignore them @milly26x if they didn't like it they shouldn't have commented. I'm here for it all!

milly26x · 21/02/2020 18:43

Thank you, just rude and if they speak to other people like that they might not bother asking for help or advice again for fear of thinking they’re going to get rude, unnecessary comments. There’s lots of things I see on the internet that I think certain things about, but I’d never say them out loud or type them with the sole intention of upsetting someone.
Costs nothing to be kind :) x

Are you sure about your ovulation date? I'm sure I have heard something about negative tests happening later on in pregnancy because something happens called the Hook Effect, which is when there is too much hcg for the test to handle, which could well be happening with a more sensitive test like a FRER, as the cheapies are usually much less sensitive and to get a good strong line on one of those takes quite a few weeks after ovulation.

Mimiwish · 21/02/2020 18:57

I'm going through something similar but almost the reverse, as I had two positives on cheapies then the next day all negatives on them, negative on Clear Blue, but positive on FR.

Have to say though, for 6-9DPO, your tests are crazy dark - quite incredible! Must have been quite an early implantation. I'm now 10DPO so we're quite close in this! Good luck to you - it looks very VERY good for you, tbh - because I've never heard of dud tests manifesting like this. It's perplexing for sure - but hard to explain other than pregnancy?

Don't give up yet - you're still really quite early to test - it's all to play for. Let us know. Wishing you luck

milly26x · 21/02/2020 18:57

@littletandme yeah I think so my last period started on the 28th of January and was normal, and then I started having positive opk’s on the 8th and 9th of February, so with that along with my temps my app put my ovulation date as the 10th of February. So yeah as far as I know :/ I honestly think there is something dodgy with these tests if I’m honest as there is no way the other tests would be negative if these are such clear positives it’s awful! X

milly26x · 21/02/2020 19:02

@Mimiwish if you had a positive on a FR that seems really good! Which day did you take it?
Yeah at first I did think it’s finally positive and real and then as time has gone on and two negative FRER’s I’m just not believing it anymore. Yeah I’m 11DPO today so just a day ahead of you!
I’m expecting the worst but thank you I hope all goes well for you too Flowers

OP posts:
Mimiwish · 21/02/2020 19:11

@milly26x I took it about half an hour ago... But I really don't think it's good news as it's very faint. And I'm thinking the cheapies can't go from lightly positive to not at all positive unless something has gone amiss :(

It's so frustrating being in this window, isn't it? I totally understand why you feel how you do. I have to say, if you're not pregnant, this is the most wildly strange 'false positives' debacle ever! Never seen anything like this not be real.

Do you feel pregnant? Did anything feel different this month? And have you asked a friend who can't be pregnant to test them?

milly26x · 21/02/2020 19:20

@mimiwish do you have a photo of the test? Maybe it’s just light because it’s 10DPO for you? Tbh I don’t have just faith in the cheapies at the moment so id go by what the frer is saying lol.
Yeah it’s awful to be in this situation and it’s been going on since 6DPO but my period is due either tomorrow or Sunday so i won’t be in this window for much longer. I don’t really know if I feel pregnant because I don’t know how I would feel if you know what I mean as I haven’t had children before so thats why it’s so confusing at the moment. I can’t get anyone to test them as I don’t want anyone to know we are trying :/ I’ve dipped two in water and they were negative but that’s the best I can do lol x

OP posts:
Carley321 · 21/02/2020 19:38

Hey op can you dip it in DP urine? Just to try it.

As someone who’s been trying for 2 years and never had a hint of a bfp I’m thinking you might be lucky and this could be your time 🤞. After af is due if the same is happening get to your docs and so for a blood test. Good luck hun x

milly26x · 21/02/2020 19:49

@carley321 I didn’t really want to ask him to do that I don’t want to get his hopes up, he doesn’t know I’ve been testing or about any of this. That’s kind of why I come on here for advice to ask about these things because only myself and my husband know we are TTC, not a single other person knows, so I’ve had no one to speak to about these things for 2.5years, and then get rude comments on here too from those other people lol.

I really really hope it is my time I just feel like the chance of that is slipping away, tomorrow or Sunday I’ll get my answer one way or the other we will see :) x

OP posts:
bernardswatchplease · 21/02/2020 21:50

My comment wasn't rude you are being defensive. I'm genuinely curious and I don't see what the issue is?

milly26x · 21/02/2020 22:04

I have explained more than enough, thank you :)

OP posts:
elc19 · 22/02/2020 07:42

Hey OP

I'd say you are definitely pregnant looking at your tests! Maybe your hcg fluctuates and is stronger in the morning than the afternoon/evenings which is common in early pregnancy, I'm the other way around and get positives in the afternoon and faint in the mornings.

Congratulations xz

milly26x · 22/02/2020 07:55

Thank you but my temp has had a massive drop this morning just in time for AF this weekend, the frer’s must have been right and the 40 internet cheapie positives have all been false.

So yeah for those people commenting further up wondering “what my issue is” and asking what’s my problem I’m “clearly pregnant”...this was my issue

OP posts:
elc19 · 22/02/2020 08:18

@milly26x sadly could of been a chemical, it's so unlikely to get so many positives even on the cheapies. Good luck on your journey xx

milly26x · 22/02/2020 08:28

Clearblue and frer were negative with the same urines that I was getting these positives on so it’s got to have been the tests. We aren’t going to be trying anymore it’s been an extremely difficult 2.5years we’ve given it this long but it’s just too cruel, but thank you :) x
