An introduction to this thread. It has been running for many years and has proved a saviour for so many of us who have suffered recurrent miscarriages as we go through this incredibly tough journey.

Discussions cover NK (natural killer) cells, thyroid issues, PGS and many many more.

I'm now having a tiny bit of pink discharge when I wipe. Hope it's not my period coming in early as I won't get my gonal-f until Tuesday 😑

Crystal2020 · 16/05/2020 17:31

I would give them a call first thing Mon @Ultra26 - sometimes it takes a few goes to get the nurses but I’ve always managed to get through.

Argh @HoldingOn2Hope I hope it’s not. What day of your cycle do you start the Gonal-F? X

Countrygirl220 · 16/05/2020 17:33

@Ultra26 no I didn't I've just gone with the pred and the progesterone and keeping my fingers crossed, although I did double the dose of progesterone as I had some spotting

@HoldingOn2Hope I had some spotting immediately after the bfp and thought that was it, but it didn't carry on that time so fingers crossed it's just a fleeting thing

Ultra26 · 16/05/2020 17:56

Thanks @Countrygirl220 @ got a BFP yesterday and trying to book in intralipids for Monday but have had a little brown spotting today even though AF is due tomorrow and I am on cyclogest. It's hard to imagine that this is anything but bad news. I've never really gotten beyond 5 weeks.

Countrygirl220 · 16/05/2020 18:59

@Ultra26 gentle congrats to you, it's the first step! To be honest that is exactly what happened to me this time round, I had brown spotting but it went away after a two/three days, I kept going with the cyclogest and tested a few days later and it still said preggers. So it could be just then implantation bleeding, particularly if you have tested early at 10dpo? My history is also not really getting past 5/6 weeks either. Am keeping everything crossed for you x

HoldingOn2Hope · 16/05/2020 18:59

@Crystal2020 I'm not due on for another 5-6 days and only ordered the gonad-f this morning but won't get it til tuesday. Meant to start in day 2 so I'm just hoping it stays away otherwise I'm F'd for this month! They are such a fortune too! £400-600 each month on top of the scans and other meds :(

HoldingOn2Hope · 16/05/2020 19:01

@Ultra26 congratulations! They will defo get you in for intralipids when you call them Monday so try not to worry. My testing always fall on a weekend and nurse at clinic has always assured me they would get me in on the Monday it was a bfp as long as I could get there the same day. Also the intralipids are recommended working first 4 days of a bfp so you have Monday/Tuesday to get in xx

HoldingOn2Hope · 16/05/2020 19:02

@Countrygirl220 my test was bfn yday at 10dpo, the pink spitting started today so I reckon AF is on the way!

Ultra26 · 16/05/2020 19:09

Thank you @Countrygirl220 and @HoldingOn2Hope. I'm also hoping it's implantation bleeding but I don't need to tell you how whole thing is so hard. @Countrygirl220 how much bleeding did you have if you don't mind me asking? I think I'll double up on the progesterone tomorrow too. We have decided to not test tomorrow and only test on Monday morning, if it still looks good then we'll head down to Epsom.

Countrygirl220 · 16/05/2020 19:59

@HoldingOn2Hope I think there is still 'hope' as it's so early, and that would be pretty early for a period right? So implantation bleeding is a possibility even without a bfp. Do you typically have spotting before a period?

@Ultra26 no of course I don't mind, it was very light, mostly when I wiped, I'd describe it as brown spots and streaks if that's not TMI. I then did the progesterone in the morning and same in the evening (via the back entrance). I think that sounds sensible I also left it a few days before the next test to see what happened.

Also I was a bit ginger the next few days, didn't do too much apart from sitting down (obvs don't know if it did anything, probably didn't) but I think gravity does worsen the spotting and that tends to send me into an anxious panic, which makes the whole thing worse!

I'm keeping all my fingers crossed for you ladies x

HoldingOn2Hope · 16/05/2020 20:35

@Countrygirl220 yes defo early for a period although I've had a period at day 26 once, about a year ago! The thing is symptoms are the same for periods and early pregnancy aren't they so it's so hard to tell. Im getting a headache like a period headache and getting a bit snappy 😐 my husbands noticed although I didn't lol!

On a positive I've managed to get a Waitrose home delivery after 8 weeks of trying so I've ordered lots of comfort food for next week when I'm feeling a bit crappy! Was getting fed up of eating the same food from Sainsbury's!

HoldingOn2Hope · 16/05/2020 20:37

@Countrygirl220 I don't get spotting like this, this is like pink mucus whereas when I have had spotting before a period it's red. I did have 5 dominant follicles this time so I guess my body is behaving differently! Who knows? wish we had cameras to insert and check up there! 😆

peperethecat · 16/05/2020 20:41

Five dominant follicles?!

Are you doing super ovulation?

HoldingOn2Hope · 16/05/2020 20:51

@peperethecat yes I'm on the SO plan with Dr S

peperethecat · 16/05/2020 20:55

Can you tell me more about it? What is his theory behind why it might work? Presumably recurrent miscarriage patients can ovulate on their own, so why does he think it helps?

HarrietM87 · 16/05/2020 21:42

@peperethecat it doesn’t help recurrent miscarriage, it just helps you conceive by increasing the number of follicles per cycle. I had 4 this cycle and conceived 1 baby so I guess 3 weren’t fertilised/were of poor quality. I’d turned 33 a few weeks before we conceived so don’t think of myself as old. I just did it to boost my chances.

peperethecat · 16/05/2020 21:44

Doesn't that massively increase the risk of multiple pregnancies?

HoldingOn2Hope · 16/05/2020 21:46

Hi @peperethecat

I had all the tests done with Dr S which showed although I dont have abnormally high Nk cells, they do become elevated in a state of pregnancy so I was put on his 'complex' plan which means steroids from ovulation and intralipids from a bfp.
The reason he's put me on SO is because all 3 pregnancies that I did go on to mc were a result of clomid. I do ovulate on my own and tests show that I do but have had no success with falling pg. I think these last few scans have also showed that I ovulate and even with the help of meds such as letrezole and gonal-f my follicles just weren't getting to the size they should have - that usually means a very small chance of success. I've been on a higher dose of gonal-f this cycle and produced 5 dominant follicles which he said was amazing as my last scan was 'disappointing'
My never cycle he's lowered my dose a little as didn't want me to produce as many follicles due to multiple pg risk - but if this is definitely a bfn I may speak to him about that!

HoldingOn2Hope · 16/05/2020 21:47

@HarrietM87 My OH has drove around to all the supermarkets and managed to get the FRER test for me to do in the morning! Our locals Sainsbury's had none but Asda did so he's brought a few!

Crystal2020 · 16/05/2020 21:55

Ah good on him @HoldingOn2Hope and best of luck for tomorrow morning!

And @Ultra26 hopefully it is implantation bleeding. Fingers crossed for your Monday morning test.

Lots going on for everyone at the moment it feels like. X

peperethecat · 16/05/2020 22:09

Thanks for the explanation, I guess that makes sense. I'm wondering whether bringing my ovulation forward by a couple of days might help.

HarrietM87 · 16/05/2020 22:12

@peperethecat the multiples risk on letrozole is 7% vs 2% in general population so still low. Mr S won’t let you trigger above 3/4 follicles usually - don’t know how @HoldingOn2Hope slipped through the net.

HoldingOn2Hope · 16/05/2020 22:24

@HarrietM87 haha I think it's was my negative attitude when I worked into the clinic! As it was 3rd round on gf I just said to him if it's not a good response I'm not repeating them. He gave me a very sarcastic reply 'oh do you have plan b then?' To which nurse kind of just said to him that the previous scans haven't been great and I think (me) wants to discuss other options available as in ivf.
He did tell me that one of my choices after the scan was to abandon cycle and also said 'but you've come a long way to get this far so you're not going to are you?'
He gave me the trigger to take home and do myself so I guess he was also covering himself? Nurse came and said to me as I was waiting that I should definitely trigger and not abandon!
I think he's decreased my dose for next cycle so that I don't produce more than 3-4.

HoldingOn2Hope · 16/05/2020 22:27

@Crystal2020 I know bless him think he just wants a easy life lol! Better he got the tests than listen to my 'what shall I do?' all evening!

I'm getting period symptoms though! Headache, lots of watery cm too or I'm just paranoid!

Crystal2020 · 16/05/2020 22:39

It’s hard to know the wood from the trees with symptoms isn’t it @HoldingOn2Hope. I don’t know what’s real and what’s not any more because of the meds we are taking. I have promised myself I’m not going to google symptoms this cycle...let’s see how long I manage to keep that up! Normally I’m going down rabbit holes all over the internet & driving myself potty!
