So looking at my app I am due to take a HPT mid January. Would anyone like to join me?

@myttcjourney yes I'm starting to wonder if they're very wrong too! How does it even work out my fertility window if my periods vary that much each month?! I hadn't considered taking anything no , only because I am breastfeeding my 35mo and my periods only returned when she was 21mo so I have assumed the last year or so of lengthly cycles & AF fun has been down to still breastfeeding and my hormones not always knowing what's what.. who knows..! Do you feel what you've been given is helping you become more regular? X

@Ellabella234 how frustrating for you, have you tried testing cm as a prediction method? Always seems to have worked for me. Altho since having ds cervix does seem lower and more open normally so less easy to predict that way. X

@Ellabella234

I've only really worked out how wrong they have been the last 2 months. I had a scan on CD30 which showed I had recently ovulated..so well over a week out from what the opks said.

I've been put on clomid which seems to be making me ovulate earlier which is good. When my cycles are long if I can't pin point ovulation it's a disaster as there is no way we will be DTD every other day for 35 days 🤣

I have also been taking infolic- it contains myo-inositol and folic acid which can help irregular cycles..apparently safe to take when breastfeeding. May be worth a try x

Hey peeps.
It’s been a few months! Recognise a few names from previous threads. waves
Have been ‘trying not trying’ since October as TTC since Jan with nothing to show for it was getting a bit much.
However, I realised on Xmas eve we DTD 2 days before ovulation, this is closest we’ve go to ovulation in a long time. So now my mind is racing with all the same emotions I used to experience when ‘properly’ TTC.
So testing around 6th... which I know isn’t strictly mid January but I don’t think I will be able to hold off much longer haha.
Am 27
TTC #1
Trying since January

Thanks @myttcjourney I'll look into that and have a think, maybe pop to see gp.
Yeah I've tried going by my cm but I don't understand really as sometimes judging by that it seems like I ovulate twice or something so I've given up! I have another OPK question before I give up on them altogether too...😂 Lets say I do have a surge and ovulate tomorrow (31st or the 1st) so my OPK is dark tomorrow. Should today's be showing a little/are they progressive? Or is it literally negative one day, then next day dark or darker line (positive)?? X

Report
Elly88 · 30/12/2019 16:51

@Ellabella234 I think you get a gradual rise 2-3 days before your peak. So you may see a faint line getting darker until its as dark as or darker than the test line. Tho I always forget if the dark line is the day you ovulate or 1-2 days before?! Anyone? I'm using the clear blue OPKs this month but CD 10 and still the empty circle. App predicts I'll ovulate on CD 14 so I'm hoping to get the flashing smiley face to say levels are rising tomorrow.
So you get literally egg white like cm more than once in your cycle? That's interesting, but yes very confusing for you! It's such a minefield isn't it x

Hello everyone,

AF is due 10/01 but could test as earlier as the 05/01 however trying to resist the urge to POAS and just see if AF turns up

Is our first month TTC so don't want to get my hopes up but it's so difficult!

Good luck everyone Grin

@Elly88 i might be wrong but I think the dark like means you will ovulate in the next 24-36 hours after you see the second dark line. I'm not sure what's going on with me I guess if I'm having periods then I'm obviously ovulating each month, right..?! Just...when? Surely I can't ovulate way earlier than this (currently CD27) and then wait as long as CD41 (or later sometimes?!) for period to arrive? Surely it has to be nearer the time AF arrives. Do I sound frustrated ?!😂 I'm slightly frustrated.... As we all probably are in some ways x

@Elly88 @Ellabella234

The LH surge is before ovulation, and normally when you get a positive you ovulate within the next 36 hours, and then you can still be fertile 24 hours after you've ovulated. It can be quite easy to miss but I've read that between 2pm and 4pm are good times to test on opk's. I try and do it 2/3 times a day around when I think I'm going to ovulate so I don't miss it

Think the sperm meets egg plan says DTD every other day until you get your positive opk then every day for 3 days miss a day then DTD again x

@Ellabella234@myttcjourney thank you! Gosh I didn't know it was that short of a window. CB ones say to use fmu wee once a day? Top many what ifs isn't there 😂 I'll let you know if I get a smiley face in the next few days. Yes I had just read about smep. We try to dtd every other day when ttc anyway but if I can pin point when I ovulate well give the 3 days running and day after a go :)

myttcjourney · 30/12/2019 18:42

@elly88 ohhhh yes clear blue is once a day only. I don't use those ones at all anymore

The fertile window is longer as sperm can live up to 7days so good to try do it every other day as well before the positive opk

I knowwww, there is just too many different things to consider. At least once a month I think f**k this I don't want to try anymore 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I find it all so unenjoyable

Hi ladies. Ta for info re: ovulation and the testing. I seem to be having some kind of cramps! Yesterday and again right now. My sure what that's about. Opk doesn't seem to be showing darker line today (like app predicting) so could be that I'm due to have a shorter cycle than usual and I ovulated way before now and period is coming? Who knows. Argh. So frustrating that they keep differing so much in length...! My periods came back over a year ago and in that time I've only had two which were 'normal/average' length of 30 days, so its possible that could be happening again. Or something else going on....?🧐 x

So OPK still negative but got ew cm 🤔 dtd in case! So frustrating when you get mixed results isn't it! Just wish I could know if I'm at least timing it right 🙈 let us know what happens @Ellabella234

Report
myttcjourney · 31/12/2019 23:47

@elly88 I think ewcm can be up to 5 days before ovulation, I do the same though and DTD just incase with every little symptom 🤣

I had ewcm about 4 days ago and got a positive opk this evening

I did 4 opk's today 2pm/4pm/7pm/9pm and the 9pm was the only positive. Shows how easy it is to miss is 😫

@Ellabella234 I would keep testing every day

Sometimes it's only when AF arrives that you know you ovulated earlier or later etc. So difficult with irregular cycles

I have heard Angus castus can help with irregular ovulation, May be worth a google

Just tried another okp this evening as so sure I'm ovulating and got a flashing smiley face :) so hoping to get the static high peak tomorrow or Friday. We dtd yesterday but need a rest today lol so hopefully we'll time it tomorrow with my hormone peak!

@Elly88 great stuff !! It's a minefield! I keep getting faint lines yesterday and today . I know that's not a positive for ovulation and to dtd but does it indicate it's building or does it literally mean absolutely nothing? Also for you ladies who use opks when is best to test during the day?xx

Report
Elly88 · 01/01/2020 20:54

@Ellabella234 if the lines getting gradually darker then I'd say hormones are rising but I think there will be faint lines all throughout the month as we always have hormones. It's the real dark line you're looking for. The CB digi has test sticks you put in and you wait for the smiley face but when you take the test strip out of the test holder you can see the lines underneath and I think there's always been some form of lines on there but only this eve it flashes a smile on the digi response? And I wouldn't say the line tonight appeared any darker than before? So I can see how it's easily missed! I'm just praying that not dtd today won't mean we miss our chance 😣 why do we have to have jobs lol, got to wait until tomorrow night now 😂

Hi all am I OK to jump on board.
TTC cycle 1, me and OH trying for baby number 4 and I'm cd16 and officially 1dpo. Was going to use opks but realised it would be a waste of time and money as I spot around ovulation so I use the spotting as an indication ovulation is happening. I plan on testing from 10dpo so 10/11th Jan.

@Elly88 Boo! Frustrating and confusing!
I'm trying to figure out when I maybe ovulated this month as I'm CD30 now and opks are still negative. So maybe there is a chance if we happened to around the time I actually ovulated, without knowing it. Although I'm not sure what the pains were that I had the other day...my cycles are so strange...time will tell I guess ladies, time will tell! X

I know this is negative in regards to ovulation in next 36hrs etc and a surge but does this second line mean anything at all? Does it mean ovulation is coming soon or does it literally mean nothing? I might give up on this opk business.......xx
