Just wanted to see whether there is anyone else out there in the same situation. Had ds in july 2006. He was conceived straight after coming off the pill. We weren't even trying that hard and didn't expect it to happen so soon. However, would really like to have second and have been trying for 6 months. Thought I would catch early again but no luck so far. Want to have the littlies close together.

That's another month gone down the drain. AF turned up on Wednesday 2 days early!
Although didn't really expect a BFP this month due to the problems I had with my back a few weeks back. Hope it's not going to take me 3 years this time. I'm going to use a CB Digital MOnitor this month. Is anyone else using one? Any tips or stories to hi-light?

Am in the same boat too!
DS born June 05, after 3 months of trying following a mc in June 04 (after 3 months of trying!).

We've been TTC number 2 since March. I caught straight away although I didn't know until my "period" continued for 2 weeks, and then discovered that this was in fact a mc. Despite losing that one, I felt quite upbeat then, as thought , great, caught dead easily with attempt number one. Guess what, still waiting for that BFP, 5 months later. And now its really starting to get me down.

Loads of my friends are either pg with number 2 or have just had number 2 and thankfully, I am fine with that. I had a big wobble at the baby clinic last week though. Took DS for a weigh in and every other woman there was there with baby number 2, or was pg with number 2 or in one case, telling her mate that she was pg with number 2.

i'm becoming a bit obsessive about it. So I am trying relexology this month to see if that may help and also calm me down. Its not calmed me down (see above!) but am currently on CD13 so am hoping that it may have a positive effect elsewhere. Second appointment on Thursday this week.

Am glad to find I am not the only one in this boat!

Also in the same boat. Took 4 months for DD born July 05, been trying 9 months now - had mc at 6 weeks a couple of months ago and started ttc straight away again. Feel the same as others - gap now bigger than I hoped and envious of friends etc who've already got no.2. One friend fell pregnant first month of ttcing both times!

Hi,

Am using CB Digital monitor and have had a peak reading the last 2 days so plenty of bding at the moment sorry if TMI. At least shows that I appear to be ovulating. After last time before DS I had been told that I didn't ovulate and that the best course of treatment would be clomid. Picked up the prescription only to find out 2 days later I was alrready pg! Here's praying (quietly but not wishing to get my hopes up) AF due 26th whilst I am on holiday but will try to hold out testing until early October if no AF by then. Could be a nice birthday and wedding anniversary present as celebrate both of these on 2nd October when still on holiday!

ladyhelen2 · 11/09/2007 11:16

I've been peeing on clear blue sticks for 4 or 5 months now between days 10/11 until the pack of 7 runs out. In all that time, I've only had one positive - on cd 17 following a 35 days cycle but then AF arriving on day 28 that month.
I reckon I am addicted to these blasted sticks even though they never produce anything!
I had some reflexology last Thursday which would have been cd 17, and the reflexologist said she was very drawn to my reproductive areas! They were "hot" apparantly! She couldn't say what that meant exactly thought - could be OV or something else..... Here;s hoping for a something else! I've got another appointment with her on Thursday so I wonder whether they will still be hot? If not then I guess it means I OV around day 17. For future reference!!
Now on CD 22, with AF expected next Tuesday. Anyone else got news/similar CD?

Hi, just thought I'd join this thread.
I'm 29 and have 1 daughter (born Oct 2004). I got pregnant in 6 months first time then had a m/c at 12 weeks. Got preg with my daughter 2nd cycle after m/c.

Have now been trying for baby no 2 for 2 years!!! I always wanted a 2 year age gap but it looks as if the closest they'll be now is 4 years apart!!!

I went to the doctor after 6 months but told them it had been 9 months, they did 21 day blood tests and sperm analysis on DH. Both were fine

I'm having a lap and dye this afternoon, I had an emergency c section with DD1 and I lost a lot of blood so they think my tubes might be blocked with scar tissue. To be honest I'm really hoping they are blocked cos at least then I have an explanation and can have an op to clear them.

Oh well fingers crossed and good luck to us all....

LoveAngel · 12/09/2007 19:38

Hi there. Hope you don't mind me joining. We've got DS, born 2005 (conceived after only one cycle of trying) and have been ttc no.2 since June. Took a break from the conception boards this month after getting my hopes up majorly last month (AF was a week late), but feeling much more chilled out now. Hoping for a BFP before the new year. Doubt it will happen this month as haven't 'done it' much, as moving house on Friday and been very stressed out! A Christmas positive would be nice :-)

ladyhelen2 · 24/09/2007 10:04

THought I'd bump this thread with an update. Still no BFP here. Af arrived last Weds. I was really gutted this month as I've had three reflexology sessions and was really hoping they would work! I guess you can't expect miracles though. I had another session on Saturday and as I am not pg, she was able to really work on the relevant areas on my feet. Boy did i get a pummeling (sp?)! Fingers crossed for this month but the bugger is that I am on call for work from Fri 6pm until Sun 6pm which is CDs 10 and 11 for me, so not sure when we can fit some baby making in then.

Just wondering if anyone else has had any luck this month? I really hope there is some good news out there!

Do feel better and slightly calmer (although not about getting pg) in general. Like you EVERYONE i know has had no 2 or pg with no 2. I go to the park with DS, or to our toddler gym class and everyone has a 2nd baby. I am obsessed.

Babadooba - I am the same age as you and pregnant with my second, although it took just over a year to get pregnant. I went to the drs and really had to insist on tests after 6 months. I was also told that the NHS will not fund IVF once you hit 40 and that at this age the chances of success are only 10% per cycle. Don't mean to put you off, just letting you know my experiences. Good luck .

ladyhelen2 · 24/09/2007 11:26

Happened to one of my mates - decided to start trying for number 2 in a very half hearted way thinking it would prob take 6 months and bingo. Pretty much attempt number one. She's a close friend and I'm chuffed for her and not envious (thankfully). I think its because her DD will be 15 months when she has no 2 and that will be hard work!
I'm thinking of going down the acupucunture line if there is no joy this month. Does it hurt??

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 24/09/2007 12:39

Hi there. Thought I'd jump on the thread as well. TTC No3. Am sprightly 37 year old (well in my head in anycase). DD1 - 6.1yrs (with ex-h) took 4 cycles TTC, DD2 - 20months (with new improved, younger DH ) complete shock as not even trying. Now we've decided that we'd like another, and big fat negative every month.

Am taking agnus castus to help ovulate, vits, gealthy eating, don't drink during week, peeing on sticks to check when ov. Ugh. It's all getting a bit strsful round here.

Periods haven't been regular since DD2 born in Jan 06. Range from 24 to 33 days. So not even sure when AF will visit. Although assume sometime soon as am getting those dragging pains in my tummy.

Am same as everyone else on thread. Looking wistfully at preggers ladies and counting how many of my mates are PG and about to drop. Sigh.

Anyone recommend reflexology? Does it work? Are you supposed to go at certain point in your cycle?

LadyHelen - Have had accu before and it doesn't hurt as much as you think it wil. More like tiny tiny sting when needle goes in.

Hope someone has some good news soon.

Hi, can I join you? I have a DS, 3.5yr, and been ttc for quite a while. And, oh, yes, I am a grannymummy. It's CD1 for me today, very sad. I have a question for HTGG: when do you take Agnus Castus? As I am due to start it, do you take it throughout the cycle or just after ovulation? I think I have a short luteal phase with some kind of progesterone defect.

ladyhelen2 · 24/09/2007 16:15

Georgie, I'm on the reflexology trip at the mo and one cylce in, not yet worked. I'm sticking with it. Its nice and can't do any harm! And am obviously hoping for a success this month.
Thanks for the acupuncture comments. Will be signing up for that next month if no BFP.
I'm on CD 6 and counting!!

ladyhelen2 · 24/09/2007 16:16

PS What is agnus castus? Never heard of it!!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 24/09/2007 16:16

Mamalex and Hey there georgie girl,

Do not self medicate with AC; it can make some hormonal imbalances worse. If you really want to take AC you should seek out the advice of a qualified medical herbalist.

If your periods are irregular this is often due to hormonal imbalances. A common culprit in this regard is a condition called polycystic ovaries. A blood test can be done to see what your hormone levels are like.
If you have been ttc for quite a while now I would have a blood test done. If your hormone levels are awry then ovulation will be affected.

With regards to the blood test it should be done early in the cycle (day 3 or the 3rd of the month) and the level of LH (luteinising hormone) should be compared against that of FSH (follicle stimulation hormone). If your LH and FSH are awry then progesterone will be affected as well.
