I got a high today due to an estrogen surge! Cd9 😮

@Carastarchild does that mean ovulation or do you still need to wait for LH surge too? Cd9 is very early, hopefully ovulation not too far behind for you! As you say, time to get busy!

I was pleased to see flashing smiley, around same time as last cycle. Not too excited yet because last cycle I had a flashing smiley for NINE DAYS before static! So not getting my hopes up but will be very happy to see static when it appears, and fingers crossed a few days earlier than before.

Although given I was flashing (so to speak) for so long last cycle I think I'll be in for a bit of a wait. It feels good to be getting to the business end of the cycle though!

I am just home on lunch and I just did a cheap opk to check. The estrogen surge comes before the LH surge, so it will depend on my body when it occurs. I didn't like seeing it on cd 9 to be honest, as I do not want to ovulate early again this cycle. The opk is still wet, but it is faint, so thankfully ovulation will probably be in a few days.

@Skyla01 and @RachRainbow I have only ever used the cbfm and the cheap opks, so I don't have experience with the other cb ovulation tests. I hope you won't be waiting too long for the static smiley 😊✨😊

@RachRainbow we have dtd twice, so again in the morning. I haven't told my DH that I got a high, as I honestly can say that we usually have better dtd when the pressure is off. An omission of knowledge will be OK 😜😅

Hi everyone can I join? I'm a bit of a fraud because I'm not really doing the SMEP neither I nor my dp would have the stamina for that! 😂 But you all seem like nice supportive people. I'm 7dpo at the moment. Feeling positive and trying not to symptom spot too obsessively but can't wait until next week!! 🙏

I am CD20, had my flashing smiley Fri morning and still Oblivious to when I actually ovulated. Although I did have the tiniest pin prick of red in the underwear yesterday.

Ok and TMI alert....
I noticed a tint of blood in my urine and when wiping after dtd last night. Has anyone else had this during the time around ovulation?

I'm Cd13 and still a low on CBFM and also cheapie OPK. I think I usually O around CD17/18 though. In the past when using CbFm have had lots of highs beforehand but doesn't seem to be the case this time around!? Will keep peeing on the sticks and waiting around! No other signs of O yet anyway so pretty certain I've got some days ahead of me yet

We dtd on Cd7, cd11 and then today so we're still trying to do SMEP but we've kinda been doing the 'odd' number days now instead of the evens!

On a more personal note... how does everyone keep things 'interesting' with dtd every other day? I find it hard to make it feel completely natural when I know I'm actually following a plan!

Does the fertility monitor give you a high with rising oestrogen and then a peak when it detects LH surge?

I haven't had any ewcm yet so suspect I'll be waiting a while too. Only DTD every 3rd day but from tomorrow we'll switch to every other day & smep proper.

@Carley321 do you mean you had static smiley on Friday?

@catsandkid I'm afraid there's not much romance here. We just get on with it... But we should probably try a bit harder. I remember first month ttc, we would have all this "special" sex imagining making our baby. Fast forward 5 months all that is out the window!!

@Skyla01 a high reading means it has detected the estrogen surge, and hopefully it will be high again for the next two days, as I need my eggs to mature sufficiently. When it detects the LH surge it reads high. My cheap opks are very faint, so I am holding on the notion that I won't ovulate for another 4 days. I just think men produce more when it's more exciting if you get me 😜.

@Carley321 I often get a little bit of spotting the day after ovulation! Looks like you ovulated 🎉✨🎉

@catsandkid we dtd yesterday twice, and the 2nd time I felt was more us having S** than baby making. Guess which was better 😂

@carley321 this is my first ever cycle! Hence feeling optimistic ha ha 😅😂 ask me again in 5 cycles time and I'll be smepping all over the place. Just figured out that if it doesn't work out for me this month then this time next week I'll be having a large glass of wine, stuffing myself with cake and watching bake off. Doesn't actually sound that bad...

@skyla01 I just use the no smiley or smiley CB sticks I found the flashing ones drove me a bit crazy after having 13 flashing smileys.

So yea I had the smiley face on FRiday am.

Well every bank holiday this summer I have been in ttw and for the last one of the year I will again be NOT drinking alcohol! Oh well any suggestions of other exciting things to do on a summer bank holiday?

@Carastarchild didn't know the oestrogen was maturing the eggs. Hopefully you won't get positive for a few days then.

@Skyla01 oestrogen thickens the lining of the womb. The developing follicles secrete oestrogen and when the primary follicle matures it secretes even more oestrogen, which signals to the body to release LH which further develops the follicle before it releases an egg. I am worried that if I ovulate too early then the egg might not have enough time to mature enough.

@Carley321 that's why I try to dtd right before I get ovulation pain as it is not very comfortable to dtd when in pain, or if I have spotting.

Interesting about the surge I also didn’t know that so maybe I didn’t actually ovulate this month as I only got a high not a peak, but I was using cheapies on Premom not the Cm digital. I feel like the digital will stress me out lol.
I’m feeling much better though and ready to get going again, when AF arrives, I feel like with each month I’m getting nearer 🤞

On the romance side of things, we just kind of get on with it, we are the kind of couple that just laughs about things so it’s never really too romantic anyway lol, although I must admit, towards the end of it we both wasn’t really ‘there’ it was more of a get it over with which wasn’t very nice so might have to get some tips for this month. I think for me sex has become literally for making a baby and it’s horrid but I can’t seem to take my time mind out of that mode, especially when the dtd is scheduled. I guess I’ll have to invent something to make it more fun and not just about ovulation times lol
