Starting IVF

Anyone is about to embark on this rather stressful journey? We are awaiting for our first consultation after being referred to the clinic back in June. Have mixed feelings as I am excited and can't wait to start, but also nervous and stressed out at the same time! Would love to have cycle buddies in this madness!

Hi @iwanttohaveababy thanks for asking, when we got there the embryologist told us we have 2strong pretty little embryos graded 5BA so they transferred one back and put one in the freezer for us. We were very pleased and now just enjoying the fact that we don't have to go to the hospital every other day, no scans, no injections, I know it sounds silly but I feel like we succeeded to some extent as we did create 2embryos and kept our marriage intact haha!
So now I am in the 2WW and I don't mind waiting (said nobody ever, I know).

hi @iwanttohaveababy thanks for asking, I am 4dp5dt today, nothing to report really, everything I feel is due to the progesterone so I am bloated, have crams here and there plus constantly feel sleepy and tired, moodswings, but as I said this is nothing that suggests I could be pregnant so I am keeping my cool for now :) Having acupuncture tonight to help implantation, this is my last session. I must admit I don't think I will miss acupuncture haha didn't manage to fall in love with it, but I believe it helps with the blood flow and stuff so hey ho at least there's that.

Have you got your period? What is the schedule?

Keep waiting! Try not to test early, a lot of girls do it... I will try to wait till the end too...

How many acupuncture sessions did u attend before the transfer? I got one booked for tomorrow- i don't like it either, i have been before and it hurts!
I got a bit of a spotting, hopefully my period will start today or tomorrow and i should go for a scan...

I had one after transfer the following day (transfer was this Monday and I had the session on Tuesday), then I have one today to help implantation, but I think it might be a bit late... who knows.
Exciting that you will join me in the 2WW soon! Did they tell you the grading of the embie?

It is exciting, i can't wait anymore. I will probably do another session before the transfer and then afterwards will see.

I got 1 excellent embryo and 2 average but from what i am reading it doesn't really matter. Let's hope so!

Yeah, hubby was quite hung up on the grading system and I told him it means absolutely nothing, he was convinced we will have a slow kid if we succeed as this one is 5BA and not 5AA so I tried to explain to him it has nothing to do with our kid's future chances to go to uni :D The one ended up in the freezer is 4ab so if it comes to that I need to find a way to convince him that is perfectly fine to use... He can be such a pain sometimes really, might be the progesterone talking LOL

You have to find an article that explains that. I didn't even tell mine about the grading, just told him good, average, excellent. He knows we got 3 embryos and that's all that matters. They are saying the grading is like a fashion show, they grade them by their looks not by the way they will eventually perform.
Men are pain without progesterone, trust me. I am trying to make mine complete some paperwork for the hospital since Dec. I think i will sit down and do it for him his weekend. TBH i haven't been too serious about it either- we both forget about things a lot.

I didn't tell him about this either, but then the embryologist sat down with both of us and told him so I knew this was gonna happen. He is quite a perfectionist and also didn't like that they did ICSI instead of IVF because the sample was "borderline" and then we got 4fertilised out of 9that was quite low fertilisation, but of course it is one of those things you will never know how it would have turned out with IVF.
But he didn't like the idea of the embryologist deciding basically which sperm to use as I know it is true they can pick the fastest, however it doesn't mean that is the genetically most suitable one. Anyhow, it is behind us, just saying he can be annoying haha

Hi @iwanttohaveababy thanks for asking, I feel not pregnant. Will test tomorrow morning with hubby, but I am having the PMS today that I would normally have plus sorry for TMI, but I am completely dry and that happens to a woman if not pregnant. No cramps, nothing.
So set up the plan for the negative as going to make a huge cup of coffee tomorrow morning, then going out for drinks at the evening.
Called the clinic to find out what happens if it's a BFN and they said we can try naturally in March and April then do a FET in May that am pretty happy with.

@Lily999 i am keep reading about girls with no symptoms that end up pregnant! Let's wait till tomorrow morning and see the test, then we can get happy/sad. I would probably think the same so you are not alone. Please let me know when you find out tomorrow.

Nothing new with me. Just going for scans, no medication, no nothing- that's the natural cycle transfer for me. Will see what's next, have no clue...

Did you take time off after the transfer? Are you off sick atm?

Thank you @iwanttohaveababy its still super surreal to be honest and just realised I have been focusing so much on how to TTC and now I have no clue about what to do when actually get pregnant...?
Hubby was funny when he said so from now on we learnt that when I don't feel pregnant it means I actually am. :) But seriously if you have zero symptoms and no CM please please don't lose hope as I thought deep down I know it didn't work. And it did. Will do another test tomorrow and Sunday as well just to see the progression, but it was unmistakable.

That's so crazy! I can't imagine how you feel! I would be confused too :)) Celebrate tonight, but without alcohol :)

Have stayed home after the transfer or you went straight back to work?

Wanted to come back, but my boss told me to take the whole day off and rest as he and his wife went through IVF so he knows. IT was very kind of him and I can highly recommend taking EC and ET days off, but nothing else. I worked through the 2ww and test day as well.
Will celebrate with non-alcoholic cider tonight! :) Hope your evening will go well too.
