Guys I don't drink alcohol anyway but I do drink perhaps 1-2 cups of tea and a can of Coke Zero most days... (amongst a LOT of water!). I've seen someone say this can decrease chances of getting pregnant due to caffeine? Surely not?! Are any of you cutting this out?

Skyla01 · 28/07/2019 13:53

@november90 I've seen mixed messages about caffeine. Some people certainly think that caffeine can interfere with implantation, and ttc in general. The evidence isn't that robust. However I think it's possible caffeine may have a negative impact so I'm trying to cut back a bit. I don't have a lot of caffeine in my diet anyway- your intake doesn't sound excessive either. I try and stick to 1 coffee or 2 teas a day. Easier in warm weather! Not sure if it necessary or not but every little helps.

whatsthecraic91 · 28/07/2019 14:18

@november90 I’m a Diet Coke addict and I’ve changed to the caffeine free version Grin

Frozeneverafter · 28/07/2019 16:38

I'm totally addicted to Diet Coke. Have cut down a lot since TTC but it's really hard. I'm currently 7dpo and have no symptoms other than the CM I'd been having. I guess it is still too early.

Rachieg88 · 28/07/2019 18:56

Hi guys! Can join?! AF due 4 August and I am already counting down til I can test! Blush

whatsthecraic91 · 28/07/2019 19:17

@Rachieg88 I am also due 3rd/4th Aug! When are you going to test? I really myself every month I’ll wait til AF is late but it never happens Blush

Rachieg88 · 28/07/2019 19:21

I have no idea!! I have a test upstairs but I know it's silly to do it so soon.....

When are you thinking? I will just do it the same day as you!!

NamiSwan · 28/07/2019 20:36

Gosh I didn't know that about caffeine, another thing to stress about Hmm would struggle to cut down as well as get massive withdrawal without my tea!

CD4 and I'm so impatient for ovulation to hurry up...I usually don't ovulate till day 18/19/20 though so have quite a long wait Blush

Macbless · 28/07/2019 21:23

I was reading the NHS guidance for infertility- someone really helpfully posted it on another thread and it says there is no evidence that caffeine has any impact on fertility... where as smoking/obesity/being under weight/drinking do have an impact. It reassured me as I can’t live without tea... I do drink some decaf but it doesn’t take so good!

Macbless · 28/07/2019 21:25

Meant to say this is my first post on this thread - hope it’s ok to just jump in!

@Rachieg88 I have tests in the house too!! At the earliest I was thinking Wednesday morning but I really want to wait until the weekend! I’ll see how I get on! Have you any symptoms?

Rachieg88 · 29/07/2019 07:06

@whatsthecraic91 I have just ordered a FRER which is due to arrive Thurs / Fri so I will do it then I think!! I have no symptoms at all but I only had symptoms after AF was due with DD1 so hopefully that doesn't mean anything! Why do the days go sooo slooowwwlly in the TWW?!

november90 · 29/07/2019 12:39

Urgh feeling really down today. How does everyone keep their minds off it? I think because my sisters just announced her pregnancy everyone's talking about it and it's just a constant reminder. Can't seem to get out of this slump! Plus my cycles are so long AF not due to 3rd sept and that's only if it isn't delayed again!! Ovulation may not be for around another 3 weeks :(
Gonna try and have a really healthy month. Last month I was a bit naughty and put about 5 pounds of (my bmi is normal and no where near overweight) but can't help but wonder if this caused a delay! I have suspected pcos.

Macbless · 29/07/2019 12:55

@november90 it sounds really hard, especially when your sister is pregnant. This might sound silly since this is an online thread but i’ve Found doing craft things I enjoy really helpful to be a distraction and stop me from endless searching on the internet and thinking about TTC. Is there something that you enjoy like that which could distract you a bit? Xx

Anny27 · 29/07/2019 13:16

@november90 sorry to hear that you're feeling down :( i certainly have those moments too!
Things that help me keep my mind distracted are planning days out, decluttering/ doing house projects. Crafts sounds like a good shout as well!

I usually allow myself to be wallowy and sad around AF started but then i try and perk myself up and get positive for rest of month.

Had your sister beeb trying for long? And do they know you are ttc?

secretllama · 29/07/2019 13:40

@november90

It is really hard to hear other people announce they're pregnant ... me and one of my besties started ttc at the same time , after 3 months we both had our realisation that it doesnt happen instantly and we could be in it for a while ...but now she is pregnant and while I'm so happy for her , I had a lump in my throat when she told me and it wasnt out of happiness..Sad

Agree that it's good to wallow at the start of each new cycle, then I try think new start let's do this! But it's not easy Shock

kahstorm · 29/07/2019 15:26

@november90 it’s a horrid feeling isn’t it when you are happy but also really down about someone’s news. My sister is due in December and asked me to take her for her scan next week. I felt so upset because the last time I went for a scan I found out my baby had died. Sounds crazy but I do a lot of sewing and dressmaking. It really takes my mind off it. I’ve also deleted Facebook because I can’t be dealing with cookies and personalised adverts! Try and keep positive and know that our time will come. We just have to work that little bit harder to get there 😊

november90 · 29/07/2019 16:20

Thank you so much for the lovely replies! I'm gonna screen shot them all and read them when I'm feeling down! It's just so easy to feel alone and anxious.... I think a healthy mental and physical month is just what I need! Over indulging last month has knocked my self esteem as well which won't be helping! Thank you again xx

Louise190 · 29/07/2019 17:29

Oh @november90 I'm sorry you're feeling so down! It's so easy to fall in to a negative headspace isn't it! I think focusing on mental and physic fitness is a good and positive distraction. I've rejoined the gym and focussing on our diet and I have found that has helped distract me and give me a more positive mind set, I'm feeling a lot better in general too. Self care is important I think.

I'm 9DPO today and I promise I have been super relaxed but the HPTs caught my eye just now and I couldn't resist! BFN obviously! But I'm feeling ok, I don't think it's going to happen for us any time soon and I have sort of made me peace with it!

Hope everyone else is doing well!
