...to stop themsleves from reaching for a test too early?

AF not due until Friday and I'm dying to test already...

Now I have hope again that my bfn today might turn into what I really want. Not due til Sun/Mon, and I ov late so its really too early, but I convinced myself that my cheap internet ones are more sensitive so will work earlier [hmmm]. They are 10 m-thingies, instead of 25 m-thingies.

I'm the same with symptoms - have had all the 'pg' ones and not been pg. Annoyingly, before had DS I never had any such signs, so I knew immediately I was pregnant from about 8dpo. First month ttc this time (4 mths ago) I was so convinced I bought a baby magazine . This month I'm going to buy tampax to ward of AF.

Am even having 'pregnancy brain' as I'm obsessing about it so much I can't concentrate at work and am making stupid mistakes.

toomuchtimeonline · 13/07/2007 14:44

Good to know that crampy pms feelings can still be BFP as I feel like that today..

spugs · 13/07/2007 14:46

my cheapy ones were 25s from accssess diagnostics - i think the supermarket cheapys are better. I spent £25 on ovulation tests and a thermpmetor this month ready for af, so was bound to happen

kayjayel · 13/07/2007 14:47

Treenie -
try looking on the peeonastick website - it has pictures of evap lines.
For what its worth, I had a really clear evap line on a ClearBlue a day afterwards (was def not pg). If you saw the Making a Baby programme when they showed a positive test for a couple, my evap line was pretty much the same as that looked. Was very convincing. I've heard that the cross style ones are worse for this than the two lines?

But - 10-15 mins is a bit different - my evap was clearer hours after, not mins. So if I were you I'd be a bit hopeful...

spugs · 13/07/2007 14:47

ooo, just noticed its fri 13th and something good has happened

Treenie · 13/07/2007 14:55

Thanks Kayjayel - am a wee bit hopeful now but I guess time will tell. So hard this waiting though! Have done next to no work in a week! All I can think about is babies!
x

kayjayel · 13/07/2007 15:10

Good luck with the hope - hope it grows into a huge fat line.

I have to confess that in a certain light, squinting and going into a bit of a trance, my BFN had a shadow. Sensible brain says 'evap line, strange visual illusion, mad TTC woman'. TTC Mad brain says 'ooh it could be maybe do another one tomorrow, or look at it again, try the bathroom it has better lighting'. I'm sure this should be a diagnosis. It'd be nice to be sedated for the 2WW!

Thinking · 13/07/2007 15:42

Yes, I know the Clearblue tests with crosses have loads of false positives...I had one last month it was dark line but really thin and off centre to the left, were as a real positive is thicker and central.

Ring the Clearblue helpline and complain and they will send you a free digital test instead...mine new digital is waiting for a suitable time

Thinking · 13/07/2007 15:43

luchinka · 13/07/2007 17:16

Hi everyone
I'm on day 28 of my first pill free cycle, so no idea when my period would turn up, but if it reverted to normal it would arrive next Saturday ish ( used to have 35 day ish cycles) I think I ovualted about 7 to 10 days ago (judging by EWCm and sore nips plus pink tinged EWCM ...(tmi)possible ovulation spotting?). Today I have slight periody cramps and achy legs but I think it's just my period arriving. Would be no point testing for about 2 weeks anyway due to weird cycles.

kayjayel · 13/07/2007 18:52

Oh go on - test! (tempting devil emoticon)

luchinka · 13/07/2007 19:08

how bizarre... just been to the loo sorry..tmi...(turning into a pant checker) and instead of what I thought was going to be beginning of period I have EWCM. Still feeling periody crampy though. Still think it's way too early to test...a week b4 I'm due on?

kayjayel · 13/07/2007 19:12

well if you ov'd 7-10 days then you could reasonably test in 4-7 days, but you can always unreasonably test now. Of course that is bad and shouldn't be done . I'm 8dpo and got a BFN for my silliness. Weirdly my CM is more like EWCM than anything else at the mo and am due on in next few days. Am also crampy. I've no idea what CM is supposed to do if you're pg, though?

duchesse · 13/07/2007 19:32

I've even stopped buying the cheapie Ebay ones. Just a waste of money. I can recommend it as a tactic... Not everybody is quite as barren as me though.

EllieG · 13/07/2007 21:50

Damn damn damn tested again after swearing I wouldn't! BFN. But still no AF. Think am going a bit mad.

luchinka · 13/07/2007 22:50

it really gets to you doesn't it? Here was me thinking we'd just come off the pill and see what happens but you turn into a bit of a ttc freak...and so soon. MIL asked this evening if there was any news! Only been married 6 weeks and haven't even told them if we're ttcing or not! She's a bit keen for a grandchild

PinkMartini · 13/07/2007 23:56

Hi Jimmychoos-
so far CD26 but feeling a bit crampy and unlucky but hopeful at the same time. God it f&cks with your head doesn't it?

spugs · 14/07/2007 08:00

Luchinka - i had mid cycle bleeding this time, which i hoped was ov bleeding and i think it may have been, fairly sure i oved after it though.

kayjayel · 14/07/2007 08:59

Oh well, at least i didn't get to waste more tests - AF here today . Now I can worry about how short my luteal phase is too (8-9 days this month). Another month of obsessing looms...

Hope others have better news.

monthlymayhem · 14/07/2007 11:13

I'm normally a rational, sane, patient person but this ttc is driving me up the wall and it's only the first month of trying! CD35 today and still no sign of AF. Have had really sore boobs for the last two weeks, and sore tummy cramps last week which have now gone away, but got BFN on Monday. What is really annoying is that because this is only my 2nd cycle after coming off the pill (took 50 days to get first af), I don't know if I'm late and might be pg, or if it's going to be 50 days again then I might be ov'ing around now? We're bd'ing constantly just incase!! I'm really not sure what to think, but determined to stick it out to Monday before testing again (am fairly sure it will be BFN so am really just avoiding the inevitable disappointment for another couple of days)

luchinka · 14/07/2007 13:42

what's a luteal phase?

Thinking · 14/07/2007 14:10

Luteal phase or LP is the number of days between ovulation and your period (AF)

It needs to be 10 days or more to allow for a successful egg implanation.
